Maka was lonely. The cold winter air was painful as it wipped through her. Her body felt weakened as she walked through the deserted streets of Death City. Most of her friends were out visting their families for Christmas, however she was left alone since her father was out on a mission. It was Christmas Eve and she was bored. She decided that she would go to the academy to read some books. She sighed deeply as she clenched her jaw to keep her teeth from chattering. She let out a sigh of relief as she saw the academy come into view. She scurried inside and shook the snow from her body.
Maka's head lifted to see Black Star. She smiled gently as she put her coat on the rack. "Evening, Black Star." She greeted kindly.
"What are you doing here? I thought you left town like everyone else - even Lord Death is at home." Black Star stated, putting his hands behind his head.
"Well, Papa is on a mission, and it's dra

Five years after Amaterasu returned to the Celestial Plain, she felt beaten down. Her mind often drifted to thinking of the one person she had ever felt feelings toward; Okikurmi the warrior.

"My, chèrie... just go and see him."
Amaterasu jumped, she had not realised Waka was there observing her.

Maka, Soul, Kidd, Black Star, Tsubaki and Crona all went for a walk through the woods. When they left the city it was warm, but now it was freezing. On their walk through the woods, Maka and Black Star had gotten into a bit of a fight.
"Black Star would you stop already!" Maka yelled furiously; after the fifth snowball was whipped at her head, she was finally done.
"C'mon Maka, it's just a little bit of fun!" Black Star yelled happily.
"I don't care, keep me out of it!" Maka sighed.
"What is wrong Maka, you seem tense." Tsubaki asked as she rested her hand on Maka's shoulder.
"I-It's nothing Tsubaki, really." She forced a smile.
"It's uncool to lie Maka." Soul broke in.
"Were we talking to you Soul?" Maka snorted.
"Maka stop being such a party pooper." He said with a laugh.
"Yes Maka, a little bit of fun once in a while is good for you." Kidd s

"Never! You first!"
"Aww, you're crying!"
"No, you are!"
"No, I'm not!"
"Ugh would you two shut up?" Maka screamed as she gripped her head to try and calm the pounding against her skull.
Black Star and Soul were staring intently at one another. For the last hour they had been constantly trying to beat each other in a staring contest; currently the score was even, 7-7. Maka was only watching because, in her tiny apartment with Soul, there was only so much to do.
"Just blink already!" Soul groaned, his eyes twitching from the dryness.
"God's don't lose, and neither do I!" Black Star annouced happily, his eyes not nearly as close to their limit as Soul's were.
Soul finally gave up and closed his eyes. Black Star cheered as he jumped up bragging on and on. Soul on the other hand flopped down onto the back of the couch and rubbed at his eyes. "Never again!" He mumbled, his eyes stinging.
Maka giggled from her chair as she watched the boys in their victory and d

"Like I'll be able to sleep now." He groaned and got up from bed. Taking a look over his attire, he remembered that he took off his shirt but was far too tired to bother with his jeans.
His mind drifted in thought of Ayano. She was downright annoying and loud, but there was apart of his heart she had stolen away and he wanted her to take it all; help numb the pain of his first lovers passing - he wanted to feel love once more.
"Ayano..." He breathed and placed his hand against the window as he stared down at the city below. After a few moments, he gathered his shirt, jacket and shoes, pulling them on before going outside and lifting off the ground and heading towards the Kannagi reside

Tsubaki and Soul suddenly came running toward Maka, they looked panicked.
"Maka!" Tsubaki yelled as she approtched her.
"W-what, w-what's wrong?" Maka asked her; she could now see she had been crying.
"Black Star is missing," Soul explained.
Maka snorted. "Why are you so worried, that idiot runs off on his own all the time, he's probably fighting," Maka stated with an irriated sigh.
"No, Maka, you don't get it!" Tsubaki cried.
"B-Black Star left in pain... h-he wanted to train with the enchanted sword, a-and I said no... he's been in so much pain lately because o-of it, and he was in a lot of pain this morning before he left too, I-I'm worried he's collapssed somewhere," Tsubaki sobbed.
Maka's eyes widened. "Y-you've checked everywhere?"

She listened as her partner sighed for what sounded like the tenth time; he wanted nothing to do with today's mission.
"But this is so uncool! Can't they send someone else?" Soul had been going on and on saying stuff like that over and over, and Maka had finally had enough.
"Soul! Shut up!" His eyes widened at her.
"S-sorry Maka..." He lowered his head and continued to walk.
From behind Maka and Soul, Black Star and Tsubaki were walking with them. The four had been asked to go and investigate a sighting of Medusa in the far end of Death City. Kidd and the girls were supposed to go as well, but Lord Death put them on a different mission at the last second.
"So where is this stupid snake lady?" Black Star asked the group.
"She was apparently last seen just up here." Maka said.
The four came to a halt. The area seemed deserted.
"I don't see any sign of her here..." Tsubaki said
