The gun was set against my temple. My heart was beating quickly, pounding like a caged bird against my ribcage, and I could feel the perspiration rolling down my back and sticking my hair to my neck. Blood was leaking steadily from the wound in my leg, coating my hands as I tried to apply pressure. I looked up into the dark eyes of the boy asking me the question.
I had been so kind to this boy. I'd smiled at him just yesterday and said good morning. He'd nodded and reciprocated the smile. We were practically friends by Columbine standards. I looked to the boy standing beside him and frowned. I was also kind to him. I didn't get it. Why were they doing this? Why were they hurting us when we'd done nothing to them? I'd only ever been nice, but maybe that was the problem.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked at Richard. He was sitting against the building, his hands locked in prayer. His lips moved swiftly and I could tell he was sending one last message u

Ah, well. Welcome one and all to my slight break from writing Fanfiction (I swear I'll get back to it soon, I just need to get that stupid part for my computer at home, since I have no time to update/no way to reach my betas at school. 'Mutters darkly') to lend a helping hand to anyone who's interested! If you didn't get the concept in the summary, I'm WingsOfMorphius and I'm here to offer you some tips and tricks to character creation to help you avoid the dreaded Mary/Gary Sues.
To start, I'm gonna educate you guys on exactly what a Mary/Gary Sue is. (We all have to learn somewhere, after all…) Generally speaking, these are characters that are too 'perfect' to be believable. They're the ones that are the smartest, prettiest, strongest, fastest, most charismatic person in the world and who have no flaws whatsoever. The main character usually falls in love with them on sight,

Caught by a Cobra
It was over. The Joes had lost the war against Cobra and their base was taken over by the end of the first day. Most of the troops had been captured, and some had been scattered to the winds. Snake Eyes was one of the few that hadn't been caught yet, but living on the run was certainly no fun for the black clad ninja. The last few months had been sheer hell, running from cave to cave in the higher mountains of the Rockies. He had to keep moving though, never staying in the same cave for more than a night. The lower mountains were crawling with Cobra operatives, and even setting a foot outside of the caves during daylight hours was going to get him captured just like the others.
Snake Eyes had been listening into the conversations fro
MaskedTunnel Rat returned to their Cobra Truck, pockets filled with edibles. The others would most likely turn up their noses at what he found, but at least he wouldn't be eating canned peas for the fifth time in a row. He jumped back with a start as Snake Eyes fell from the sky directly in front of him. "Man! Again with the scaring me thing!"Masked4 years ago in Romance More Like This
The swordsman stood predictably voiceless.
"Ah don't tell me you can't stand a little outdoors stench either," Tunnel Rat bemoaned. Not too long ago, he'd actually been 'politely' asked to find somewhere to shower before even thinking of boarding the Coyote. It didn't smell that bad.
Receiving a small shake of the head, the shorter man wondered why Snake Eyes was blocking his way into the the truck. He obviously wanted something, but gave no indication as to what, and of course didn't say a single word either.
"So you can't say, like, anything, right?"
A curt nod.
"Is that by choice, or did you take some grievous wound to the throat?"
He was ign

Wade stood up, pulling his red hoodie over his head, shoving his hands in his jean pockets as he turned onto the sidewalk. He glanced at the watch he stole a few weeks ago. It was around four-thirty. Cool. Sidewalks will be nice and busy. No one will notice him. He carefully pushed through the crowds, avoiding the busy folk trying to head home or wherever the hell they needed to be; he didn't care. He turned a quick corner and onto a less busy street, hoping to get away from all the people when a sudden shorter body plowed into him, knocking them both down. And of course, Wilson had to go and scrape his pa

One of my more recent obsessions has been the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series. A cursory glance at the title and the book covers, which often include a Pegasus and a sword, makes it evident that the series involves Greek mythology. My other obsession is the Artemis Fowl series, which is about neither Greek myths nor birds, but rather fairiesfairies in this case meaning anything from elves and centaurs to dwarves and goblins.
I can't decide which one I love more.
Artemis Fowl and Percy Jackson are both children's booksor perhaps young adult would be a more fitting category. Or perhaps they're just not suitable for young children with overprotective parents. These books are rather violent after allweapons, battles, even death.
As previously implied, both Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl fall into the genre of fantasy; both consist of action-packed adventures with a slight dash of romance, narrated with an engagi

I try so hard to change for people
Do what they want,
Listen to their critiques,
Try to be a good friend..
But you know?
Everyone makes mistakes,
is not perfect,
is tired and stressed and slips,
It is never good enough,
no matter what I do,
nobody ever sees what I changed,
everybody always only sees my faults.
I get criticised for what I did wrong,
but never acknowledged for what I changed,
I give up.
I don't have the energy anymore,
to always justify myself,
to always go up and be the one,
that is bad,
to always be the one,
Sometimes I think I'm better off without anyone...

Just off to the side of the lounge was a small corridor that led to a simple wooden door, Himchan knocked on it once and was met with a single and harsh command,
'Leave.' Himchan's frown soon turned to a look of anger as he clenched his fist raising it to hammer the door down; I reached my own hand out and gently covered his with it pulling it down. His frown returned as he looked at me and opened his mouth to argue with me that Zelo's behaviour was unacceptable when I shook my head and smiled softly mouthing to him a 'thank you'. He didn't argue but instead sighed and pulled me into a tight hug popping a kiss on my cheek before heading back the way we had come. Standing there I looked through the large glass walls that made the recording room but saw nothing, Youngjae was right, there were no lights on but Zelo was definitely in there, alone and upset. I could feel the blood rush up into my usually pale cheeks as I stared at the man who waited patiently for an answer. Oh God, he'd seen my dancing and not to mention my singing and was probably ready to break out into hysterical laughter any moment now. Luckily Rose piped up,
'I think she was just about finished up. Are you new here? I've never seen you around this dance studio or town for that matter.' The man smiled a brilliant wide smile at us both which was just about the only thing we could see of his face because he had a cap pulled low over his eyes, he nodded taking a few steps further into the room,
'I am new here, to the town as well as this studio. I've been looking for a quiet place for some time now to practice my dancing and well this place seems to be pretty old and quiet. Speaking of dancing, you've got some skills.' He nodded in my direction and I stood up dusting myself off. I smiled embarrassed and looked at the man properly for the first time, trying to get a b

'Huh?' was all I could manage as I scowled looking up. 'Oh Oh!' the scowl was quickly replaced by an averted gaze; well an attempted one at least. He was standing right in front of me with a towel wrapped haphazardly around his waist that looked in danger of falling at any moment and a black unbuttoned shirt hugged his wet body. He was breathtaking, how could someone have such an amazing body and still be human? I didn't know but I wasn't complaining either.
'What's going on?' he asked expression and voice full of concern as he took another step closer to me. 'Did something happen? I wasn't expecting to see you here, especially so late.'
'Ya, that was me hyung.' Zelo piped up slinging an arm over Bang's shoulders, 'It was my fault, got really late and we didn't realize how late.' He laughed rubbing his head and yawning.
'You need sleep Zelo, come.' Bang took his maknae's hand; much like Zelo had done to me earlier and led him up the spiral staircase leavi
Dramione: Falling In Love At A Coffee ShopEvery Friday morning, Hermione Granger would stop at the local muggle coffee shop before heading off to her job at the ministry. It was a ritual of hers. She would go in, get her usual, strong black coffee with just a touch of cream, and then she'd sit in the overstuffed armchair in the corner and read. She'd arrive at the coffee shop around 8 o'clock and stay for about an hour, at which time she'd find a nice empty alley to apparate to the Ministry in. Every Friday like clockwork this occurred.Dramione: Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop4 years ago in Romance More Like This
However, Hermione wasn't the only ministry employee that enjoyed that particular coffee shop. Draco Malfoy, who worked with Hermione in the Department of International Magical Cooperation, also visited that coffee shop on a regular basis. He usually sat in the overstuffed armchair near hers. At first, he had done this just to annoy her. But then gradually they started having civil conversations with each other on occasion. Civil lead to friendly, sometimes even flirtatious.
Mark of Athena Chapter 1This couldn't be happening. The Argo II should've been landing with the grace of an eagle, dignity and pride emanating from long distances. Percy was aware of this; he was as sure of it as he was sure of his friends. That ship was to be their transportation to Rome, a second home as they fought to save their first. Percy knew all that, and yet as he watched a gryphon drop a huge rock into the stern, he couldn't help but feel dread is though it had been he whose middle had been pierced with a rock.

He brought his lips down to my throat as we walked past an agitated Zelo and murmured against my skin making me blush crimson, 'Keep making that sound and I'm afraid we'll have a very unhappy maknae on our hands' he chuckled gliding down the stairs.
