Troubleshooting:How to Photograph Christmas LightsTroubleshooting:How to Photograph Christmas Lights1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
I recently read an article on Reddit that explored the best way to photography Christmas lights and it raised some interesting points. Rather than re-hash what has already been said, I've delved into a few tutorials around the web to give an overview of some hints and tips - and will link them all at the end of this article so that you can investigate for yourself.
When you take a Photograph, the camera will often over-compensate with the colours that it's trying to capture and objects that look fairly white to the naked eye don't appear so in the photo that you've taken. White Balance aims to override that. But just setting your camera to Auto White Balance and hoping for the best is not good enough...
The above shots show the same location taken firstly with auto white balance - and then secondly with the white balance set to shade. Setting Shade me

Need references?Although drawing and painting "from life" is way much more effective and efficient than drawing from photos (I'll be writting a separate journal about this soon, no worries), you simply can't have a person to model for you every time you want to create something. And there are situations when you don't exactly know how to place that bloody hand or if the foot is drawn correctly. Similiar issues can happen with architecture, perspective... with everything you draw. Then, when you look for help, you may stumble upon Stock gallery and you find awesome things. Remember about crediting the used stock directly!Need references?1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

fem vs fem chatroom!!! YAY!Ok I do love the messages here on DA, but to be honest I always wished there was some sort of instant message thing or chat room that we all could just hang out and exchange ideas while browsing here. Well I was looking through the chats and I think they are pretty cool.. so I decided to make one here just for our little community!fem vs fem chatroom!!! YAY!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Apparently it won't show up on the chat page unless we get a few people to stop by regularly. which is problematic considering no one would be able to enter it if they can't find it! Anyway the way around that is a link to get you to it until it becomes big enough that people WILL be able to find it in chat.
Hee this is so exciting!! I've always wanted to chat with you all without having to wait for a response in messages! Anyway here's the chat room link!
hope to see you there

Ludus's plaintive wondering as to why no responce to a massive effort on his part led me to generalize his predicament.
Alastair Leslie , (ludus), is without a doubt one of the premier artists of the female Mortal Kombat. I have watched him from his poser 3 days when I fell in love with a girl who for a while was called Brigit in her 2nd incarnation. She was so close to a girl I knew named Tara when I was in my 1st year of college that I have always looked for her ghost and sometimes found it as in his classic "Pit Fight" series which you can find on both Scarlett's Amazons and deviant art. It is an amazingly rendered piece of work. You can see the dimples in the sweat colored flesh of their creamy marshmallow soft breasts.
In "Fighting for the Queens entertainment" you again see Alastair Leslie excel at telling a story in which you see the personalities of the 2 girls fighting show in their expression from frame t
Where is we at?So, the Call of Cthulhu (for beginning readers) made it to the promised page 50. Thanks to everyone who faved and commented and generally made me feel awesome about what I was doing.Where is we at?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
During the production of these "first 50"(as I like to call them) I received a number of offers from folks who would like to publish it for you all, and I'm hopeful that one of these offers is going to work out. If it doesn't work out, I'll start looking down different avenues so that folks can eventually get their hands on the dead tree edition that so many have asked for.
In the meantime I've been revising many of the pages, with a particular attention being given to the early stuff where both art and anapestic tetrameter are being given a facelift. Another thing that I'm doing with the revisions is changing all of the single pages into double page spreads so that the whole thing can breathe and get closer in line with the way the great Theodor Geisel might have done it.&
November Birth Flowers. Beautiful Butterflies!!!November Birth Flower: ChrysanthemumNovember Birth Flowers. Beautiful Butterflies!!!2 months ago in Art Features More Like This
The symbols of the chrysanthemum are optimism and joy.
Chrysanthemums as they are more commonly known are one of the most widely cultivated flowers in the world, and the birthday flower for those born in the month of November. A native to Asia and northeastern Europe, their name comes from the Greek words “chrysos,” meaning gold, and “anthemon,” which means flower. They are a member of the daisy family, which also includes asters, zinnias and coneflowers. Many varieties of chrysanthemums bloom during the fall months; however, you can also find chrysanthemums blooming just about any time of the year.
What makes these plants so interesting is the diversity of flower variations you can find. From puffy poms to the spindly spider and quill flowers, there is a chrysanthemum for every taste. Plants feature dark green leaves and relatively large flowers, w

Raffle: Win 400 Points
Update: the winner has been announced! http://roseonthegrey.deviantart.com/journal/Winner-Announced-for-Raffle-Win-400-Points-297598524
Points seem to make people happy so why not do a raffle. I have 400 points lying around anyway from my days of llama trading.
Rule: Fav this journal entry
Prize: 400 points
Ending: 4/21/12 (one week from now)
On the 21st, I will use a random number generator to randomly select a number x uniformly distributed from 1 to the number of favs the journal has (so every fav has an equal chance of winning). If you are the lucky deviant be the xth fav, then you win the 400 points. Easy as that.
(this is just a simple raffle to give away some unused points to try to brighten someone's day...you're not forced to jump through hoops or watch me or comment or do anything other than fav this journal for logistics reasons so it's easier to pick a winner...what do you have to lose? if I tacked on
