November Birth Flowers. Beautiful Butterflies!!!November Birth Flower: ChrysanthemumNovember Birth Flowers. Beautiful Butterflies!!!9 months ago in Art Features More Like This
The symbols of the chrysanthemum are optimism and joy.
Chrysanthemums as they are more commonly known are one of the most widely cultivated flowers in the world, and the birthday flower for those born in the month of November. A native to Asia and northeastern Europe, their name comes from the Greek words “chrysos,” meaning gold, and “anthemon,” which means flower. They are a member of the daisy family, which also includes asters, zinnias and coneflowers. Many varieties of chrysanthemums bloom during the fall months; however, you can also find chrysanthemums blooming just about any time of the year.
What makes these plants so interesting is the diversity of flower variations you can find. From puffy poms to the spindly spider and quill flowers, there is a chrysanthemum for every taste. Plants feature dark green leaves and relatively large flowers, w

Tip of the Day: Thoughts of dreams and problemsTip of the day: What do you fill your mind with? Dreams or problems? Time to focus on our dreams! We meet again, friends of oldHow's it going? We meet again, friends of old7 months ago in Personal More Like This
It's been such a long time, shit, years actually! Things have changed so much in my life and there's so much to write about, but I'll focus on the substance cause unfortunately, one thing has managed to remain the same: time is always against me.
Let's sum it up, emoticons included!
1.- I Left Marvel by the last quarter of 2012 and I don't plan to do digital colors for a living anymore. I'll post my favourites here, though... for all you who dig.
2.- Earned a grant that helped me continue with the production of Turbo Defiant, my graphic novel throughout 2013.
3.- Went nuts (again), sold my apartment and invested it in creating my own publishing company: FIXION Narradores here in Mexico, but we're publishing our titles in both Spanish and English.
3.5.- That means Turbo Defiant is finally printed and now I have almost four th
Tip of the Day: having a missionTo have great success, you must have a good 'mission. What would you do if you could do anything or be given any job you want? Start from there. Don't worry about how hard it might be or how to make money from it yet. Figure out your mission and THEN figure out how to make a living from it.Tip of the Day: having a mission2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The best missions don't come from taking but from wanting to give back. However, achieving goals for yourself can give you the success and ability to give back more.

Boy Scouts and BaptistsI often write rants about religion, so for those who are tired of reading what I have to say about this topic - it might be a good time skip this and have a cup of tea.Boy Scouts and Baptists1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I enjoy reading the daily news and having a cup of coffee every morning. I scan the headlines on my laptop and eat up all the latest scientific discoveries, local weather, and international news. I enjoyed reading about the asteroid that came close to hitting Earth because it reminds me of how fragile and insignificant we are here on our little blue marble. Our place in the Universe is pretty much meaningless in terms of time and space, yet we think we are not only important but THE singularly important species. A silly thought in my book.
Also in the news I read this: http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/31/southern-baptists-to-urge-churches-and-members-to-cut-boy-scout-ties/?hpt=hp_t2 It seems a group of humans 16 million strong can't associate with another group of humans because of who they choose to love. It mak

Tip of the Day: Spending todayTip of the Day: Spending todayTip of the Day: Spending today2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's a healthy thought to maximize your life. Imagine the number of days of your life were dependent on how you used each day.
How would you spend today? This doesn't mean to just work all day but instead to live every moment to the fullest whether during work or play or spending quality time with loved ones.
Sending positive vibes to everyone.
FINALLY VACAAAAAAAAAAAATION!! <3I guess that finally really, really deserves a sparkle!! xD Sorry that I was away for so long from deviantART but I was working for 4 weeks and meanwhile my mom went on a three weeks cure so I had loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooads of work in the household and because my grandma and my dad fell ill this much again that I even had to take them to the hospital since I could no longer help them because they were just too ill to be cared about at home. Luckily they immediately found out what they had and dad neither had to be operated nor did the whole thing (luckily!) kill him (since I put him into the hospital soon enough) but nevertheless I spent really much time taking care of both of them since my mom wasn't here. Now she is finally back and I am finally freed from my part-time job so I finally REALLY have holidays just like everybody else. Just my degree dissertation is left.FINALLY VACAAAAAAAAAAAATION!! <32 years ago in Personal More Like This

Tip for Today: When to give up?Never give up just because you don't think you're good enough. We've all had our doubts in life. Successful people do not give up easily. We must prepare and prepare again, try your very hardest and then about 50% more that you didn't know you had consistently, then keep going twice as long as you ever thought you would or could. Look for more knowledge and try again.Tip for Today: When to give up?2 years ago in Personal More Like This

David's Girls2011 Was a very good year for my work, I received a bit of recognition, made some new friends, traveled all over southern California taking pictures and even revived some work in film.David's Girls3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But no one knows better than me I didn't do it alone, these absolutely phenomenal and very talented individuals made it all possible and without them, I would be out there shooting landscapes and cactus. These girls got up early, suffered my company on long drives to remote areas of desert, hiked, climbed rocks and braved cold, wind, rain and heat just to create these images.
All I can say is each of them deserves serious kudos, each of them has my deepest respect, gratitude and love because they are what art is made of. And I'm not the only photographer they work with so you really ought to be watching them! The incredible people I had the privilege and honor of working with in 2011, in order of appearance...

Raffle: Win 400 Points
Update: the winner has been announced! http://roseonthegrey.deviantart.com/journal/Winner-Announced-for-Raffle-Win-400-Points-297598524
Points seem to make people happy so why not do a raffle. I have 400 points lying around anyway from my days of llama trading.
Rule: Fav this journal entry
Prize: 400 points
Ending: 4/21/12 (one week from now)
On the 21st, I will use a random number generator to randomly select a number x uniformly distributed from 1 to the number of favs the journal has (so every fav has an equal chance of winning). If you are the lucky deviant be the xth fav, then you win the 400 points. Easy as that.
(this is just a simple raffle to give away some unused points to try to brighten someone's day...you're not forced to jump through hoops or watch me or comment or do anything other than fav this journal for logistics reasons so it's easier to pick a winner...what do you have to lose? if I tacked on

Nostalgia por el Deviant.10 months ago in Personal More Like This
