The people gathered in the room cheered ad you downed the mug of beer in one. You set the mug on the table and wiped your mouth with the back of your hand. You were already pretty drunk, but you didn't care anymore, anything to get away from...
Aargh there you went again! You hit your forehead, stop thinking about that bastard he didn't want you to begin with. I guess I'll just have to crash somewhere here again, you thought to yourself. It had been two weeks since the day you'd left your house, slamming the door as hard as you could.
You decided never to go back to that hellhole. You'd been crashing at different places each day and if you couldn't find anywhere you'd taken your chances on the street. Nothing bad had happened to you yet, so you would carry on doing that until... Well until you found some other solution.
Every other evening, you'd been going to parties trying to get drunk out of your skull and the day afterwar

Arthur sighed, setting his copy of Pride and Prejudice aside. He, of all people, knew quite well that whatever [Name] wanted would consume the remainder of his free time.
"[Name], why do you insist on calling me by that atrocious nam?"
"Oh hush! This is no time for any of your silly nickname shenanigans!"
She scolded, hopping onto the glass patio table. Kneeling forward, she placed both of her trembling arms on Arthur's shoulders.
"It's an emergency! Vines are going to grow out of my tummy!"
Arthur chuckled. Things of this sort happened daily in the Kirkland household.
"And why is that, love?"
"I accidently swallowed a grape seed! You're smart, right? What should I do?"
"Why, nothing, of course!"

Silver huffed the muzzle of his gun. Left hand snugged in the pocket of his jacket and right finger casually twirling the small metallic contraption, Silver shuffled a few steps away from the crime scene. "Damn bastard. Getting blood on my suit," he cursed spitefully as Silver wiped the red dots off his attire. Hand running up his red hair, the young man spat on the tattered corpse and turned his heels.
As he walked away, his fingers quickly dialled on his Pokégear and placed the device near his left ear. Once the other end answered, with a little smile, Silver blankly stated, "My mission is complete. It's been nice working with you."
His soul was crimson red from head to tail. His hair or a ghostly replica of it was pulled back to a little ponytail. The boyish sprite gazed lazily as the pigtailed girl he was supposed to guide panicked in front of the alchemizer. Silver rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. Body floating arou

Come little children, come with me
Safe and happy, you will be
Away from home, now let us run
With Hypno, you'll have so much fun
Oh, little children, please don't cry
Hypno wouldn't hurt a fly
Be free to frolic, be free to play
Come with me to my cave to stay
Oh, little children, please don't squirm
These ropes, I know, will hold you firm
Now look to me, the pendant calls
Back and forth, your eyelids fall
Oh, little children, you cannot leave
For you, your families will grieve
Minds unraveling at the seams
Allowing me to haunt their dreams
Do not wail and do not weep
It's time for you to go to sleep
Little children, you were not clever
Now you'll stay with me forever
When I was little, I lived in Palette Town, and there was this girl I used to play with all the time. Her name was Clear, and she was really pretty. I was jealous of her really light blue hair, where it looked like it was white, and how she would always have these pretty ribbons in her hair.
Her big brother had left

Prologue - Restless Night
Through the darkness in a silent room, a young black dragon stirred restlessly up and down through the layers of sleep. His mate, the somewhat beautiful blue and white dragoness Twilight, slept heavily next to him, oblivious to his constant shuffling. Raiko awoke completely for the fifth time that night, to find he had barely slept another 20 minutes since he last awoke from his light sleep. Raiko at this point had lost his patience and instead of trying fruitlessly for a sixth time for any form of decent sleep, he decided he would try and solve the problem. He needed to wear himself out, and to clear his head. Luckily, there was one thing he loved to do more than anything (besides Twilight) that did both for him. Raiko rolled over to face his beloved mate sleeping next to him. She was on her side, facing away from him, wings tucked in her sides and tail curled in front o

The three walked towards the hatchery. They were just a few more steps from it. Their shadows could be seen on the wall due the candles that were placed along the entrance to the hatchery. Suddenly, a lightning stream came at their direction, from inside the hatchery.
– Look out! – shouted Ruby as she jumped on Drakian and Lance, pushing them to the ground.
They realised that it was dragon breath electricity.
– Stop it – shouted Lance – It's us!
They lightning ceased and a dragon came out of the hatchery.
– Oh, Lance, sorry about that – said the dragon. His voice was trembling, afraid of what Lance would say next.
– Don't worry Nalus, you were just doing what you were asked to – said Lance with a smile on his face. He then twinged.

'It's too hot outside now.' I could feel her thoughts. 'I won't go.'
"Syraine. Be reasonable. This morning was too cold, now it's too hot... We have to get back sometime, you know."
'You do, Princess. I don't. I may stay here as long as I like.'
I just looked at her, locked in an invisible contest of wills with a creature easily twice the size of a large horse. Her long tail, with its gold-tipped frill, twitched. Syraine was rather small for a dragon. I wouldn't be the last person to wonder how so much willpower could fit into such a small body.
Magnificent and beautiful were two other words I'd often heard used to describe her. And I supposed she was - with her vibrant

I wanted to drive my sword through him. Just who does he think he is? Does he really think he can kick me and Cake out of our own home, just because he claims that it was 'his' house to begin with! Puh-lease! How dare that Marshall Lee! I don't care if he's a vampire, without his supernatural powers, immortality, and sharp fangs, he's got nothing.
Angrily I kicked a rock, sending it off in the forest. The sound of it smacking against a tree trunk pleased me. I wished that tree was his head. Cake looked up at me with her big blue eyes and I huffed. "Come on Fionna, let it go," my older sister coaxed.
"He called me weak!" I yelled. I was too upset to be composed like a 'lady' as Cake puts it. Whatever her definition of a 'lady' is. "How dare that vampire belittle me! He called me a weak human, a little girl! I am no such thing!"
"Well, you are twelve," Cake pointed out, her fluffy tail twitching. "That's technically still a kid."
The only reason Cake was getting 'technical' on me was bec

"Are we soon arrived ? My flippers are like they were scratched with sand-paper..." Sita complained.
They had been walking for hours, and the four dragons were all tired and fed up from walking.
"Don't worry, my wings aren't feeling better." Solaria replied. "Those wings are really not made to walk..."
Lông sighed. "How long are they going to complain ?" he muttered.
"Hey, that's easy when you've got four good paws to walk you silly !"
"In case you didn't noticed, we're the ones that prevent you to walk into holes, sharp hidden rocks and all those other things our paws took !" Calemvir replied.
"Indeed." Lông confirmed. "This valley's ground is a pain ! And my front right paw is still painful..."
"You're sure there aren't any red ant left ?" Calemvir asked.
"Well, I think. But those damn insects are able to go under my scales, there's no way to make sure there are any more." the red dragon cursed. "Plus red on red is hard to spot. And what about your rasps ?

Rue was the first one to awake some hours later. Her chest was quite painful from having slept on the hard metallic floor of her cage, and she cursed as she sat down, inspecting the room she and the other dragons were imprisoned in. After all she couldn't do it before as she was too tired to do so.
The room looked pretty old, like it was part of a castle. It was also weakly lightened by a single window near Mei's cage, which was as well letting a small sun ray hit her own cage. The window looked like having been repaired hastily and quite poorly, still letting the wind blow through it. Bargy, in the third cage, had a part of his cage hidden in the shadows.
There was only one door to exit the room, and it also seemed like it had been poorly repaired some times ago. Definitively, absolutely nothing looked modern or whatsoever. No plastic materials, no electric wire, no lightning source except the window... Where the hell could they be ?
And those cages they were i

As I climbed in through the window, I heard her voice. 'Next time, you're carrying me.' I smiled again; it was an old joke of ours.
As soon as I was out of the way, Syraine maneuvered her bulk through the window.
We were inside the palace's inventively named Dragon Tower, built specifically to accommodate - shockingly - dragons.
'To the throne room!' Syraine started off down the spiral staricase. I kept pace with her, glad of the chance to stretch my legs after riding on dragonback for so long.
Servants of three species scurried around, like ants from a disturbed mound - many of them with nothing better to do than look busy while they waited for orders.
Recognizing us, a young black dragon dropped into a bow. Other heads

What got me to play this stupid game?
Sat in a dark room. It almost doesn't feel real - maybe that's the drink talking, but it's like it's in some cliché movie. And he's in here with me. Of all the people in the world, why was it him?
A tall man, of a big build, with a round face, and a large nose. He smiles across at me, such an innocent smile, masking the thoughts that everyone knows goes on in that fucked-up mind. So fucked-up.
"Do you know this game, America?" He speaks, such a cheery tone in his voice. He holds a gun in his large, gloved hand. It looks like a revolver.
"I'm willing to bet it's stupid," I keep my voice level, with a hint of mocking enthusiasm. He laughs. It's not in the slightest bit normal, nothing that ever comes out of his mouth is normal.
"We play it like this; there is one bullet in here, da?" He waves the gun, as if to make a point, as if I'm not watching it so cautiously anyway. He then holds it to the side of his head. "A

"Oh, really, you found a way to escape ?" Rue exclaimed.
Her and Bargy where now looking at Mei, who still was grinning.
"I think so. I can make things lift, right ? Then I should be able to get those keys without moving from here !" the blue dragoness explained.
"Oh, this... I wonder why we didn't thought about it sooner." Bargy nodded.
Mei grumped a bit. "That's right that thinking about it, the solution was a bit obvious..."
"I just don't care as long as we got one solution to get out of here !" Rue exclaimed. "Go on and grab that key !"
Bargy frowned a bit. "One moment, that Dragonman clearly saw we weren't agreeing at all with him. And it wouldn't surprise me the dragons that were here before us decided to escape right after he explained them his plan."
"What are you meaning ?" Mei asked, not exactly seeing where the reasoning was going.
"Well, this means the Dragonman knows that now is the most probable moment for us to try to escape. It wouldn't

You must stay calm,
and let your fears wave away.
Like the gentle pull of the ocean.
They look down on you with slender eyes.
Judging your every breath.
As you shallowly take in your gasps,
like quick streams of water rushing down a steep hill.
When speaking to dragons...
You must be brave.
Act with confidence that your words speak well,
and go without vexation or indignation
For a wrong word could mean termination.
They will listen to what you have to say
with the ears of a thousand mocking birds.
Until of course you speak astray,
and the rest is left to their flaming breath
When listening to dragons...
You must behave.
Allow them their prudence and wisdom,
for dragons are the perfect beings.
And they know all.
Why do you wish, oh young one, to consult the dragons?
Is it because your lost is a world without paths?
A world so dark and without any maps?
Does the life you live serve you no happiness?
Is it your own kind to blame?

The Dragonman stepped in the room, pushing his chariot with the dragons' food. All three dragons stared at him silently, their look filled with a mix of disdain, anger and expectation. Strangely the twin tigers at his side looked away from them, like they were somewhat fearing the three dragons - which was kinda strange since they seemed muscled enough to deal with them all, not mentioning the fact they weren't in a body they weren't fully mastering.
"I hope you didn't spend a too bad day ?" the Dragonman asked.
The answer to that question was so obvious none of the dragons replied, not even Rue.
"Don't look at me like that, like I said there are reasons for me being forced to keep you locked..." he apologized.
"I'm pretty curious to know how you'll justify that." Rue finally snapped, unable to refrain her anger any longer.
The Dragonman sighed. "I guess your anger is understandable. I just hope you'll be able to understand."

"Hey, get up now you two !"
The voice managed to pierce through Calemvir's sleeping state. The black dragon difficultly opened an eye to see Sita leaned on him.
"Erg... Did I fell asleep ?" he moaned, blinking under the sun light.
The sun was now low in the sky, not quite a sunset but soon to be one. Still he had it right in the eyes. He raised his head, looking his surroundings as he was slowly remembering all the day's events.
Next to him, Lông seemed to have even more problems to wake up. The red dragon blinked for a dozen of seconds before fully remembering why he was there.
"How long... have I been asleep ?" he asked, a wide yawn cutting his sentence.
"Nearly an hour, guys. We have to move on, now." Solaria answered him.
"Like I said... I never believed the 15 minutes thing." he said.
He headed toward the river, taking some long sips of water before suddenly diving his head in it.
"Ah, that's better." he said once he put it out of the water.

Its a curse. A weapon of lies and deception.
Will you destroy it, then?
He didnt answer. The biblical passage that Al Mualim had recited as he died still rang in his mind. For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow. There was much truth in the words, he reflected, though it seemed an odd thing for Al Mualim to have on his lips as he passed on to whatever heaven or hell awaited him.
His first impulse had been to crush the thing with the broad side of his sword, but something stayed his hand, even as he heard Al Mualim taunting him. The thought had struck him that there may something he could learn from
