There's not a lot there yet, but I'll keep adding to this same submission as always the more I do. I've darkened this a little so you can see it, it's very pale at the moment, I'm just laying down some base layers.
WIP update: About 6 hours in now and I can't decide whether to do the snow globe in graphite or colour. Help???
FINAL WIP update - I'm guessing about 3 more hours so far and this will be the last WIP, it shouldn't take too long to finish off now. It looks very odd right now
I have a LOT of things on the go, so just incase anyone is waiting on a prize or drawing from me, I promise, your all on my list and I'll get there eventually
The most of you guys were able to recognise her instantly just by her eyes. Well I am not surprised but it is also a good feeling for me that I drew her eyes right. Well now I can show you the whole thing now. My current step of my Emma Watson piece. I´ve decided me for a short haired version of her because I think she looks pretty good with it though I guess it´s not everybodys taste.
This time I draw it on my A3 hahnemühle Nostalgie sketchpaper with 190 gsm. All done with regular and mechanical pencils.
PS: I must admit that I´ve never watched one single Harry Potter movie or red any of the novels .
... Yeah. See, I was studying and when the question arose whether to continue doing stuff for university or to upload some WIPs on dA I was like "Pfff! I do what I want!". And you see how that turned out.
It's been, like, JANUARY since I last touched this drawing! And at the time I really liked how it was going but now, seeing it as a small thumb picture, I realize how HUGE his jaw is! Going to try and fix that sometime, probably over summer break.
WIP 1 for the first 2012 Draw-Along - 3 Hours in and I have an eye ... what an achievement!
**I'll keep adding to this deviation as I upload WIPs as always.**
WIP 2 - Another couple of hours, those grapes are going to be evil!
WIP3 - Believe it or not, that small bit of eye and nose, took me another 4 hours So I guess my running total is about 9 hours so far. I'll add some warmth to her skin once I've done the grapes, they're going to be pretty overwhelming, so I'll judge it later. I'll just do one more WIP after this one now
WIP 4 - This is my last WIP now, an update for every grape is not exciting I don't have a lot to say really except roll on the finish line!
WIP1 - Just a little start on this months Draw-Along as a side project to Ryan Gosling. CP's on black paper, this is a first, so who knows
WIP2 - Excuse my awful scan, the paper must have moved in the scanner and I can't be bothered going back to scan again This black paper thing is turning out to be a lot of fun Another few hours on this and it's taking shape. Still a lot to go though. Thanks again to everyone who came along to the livestream
So far about 4 1/2 hours into this drawing. I think I need to get back into her teeth and work on them, I'm not completely happy with them at this point. Also, her lower lip is not sitting right.....you can see it still needs fine tuning, but I still feel good about this one, it's gonna look great with all the hair framing her face! I moved all the previous "works-in-progress" to my scrap folder [link]
So this is the drawing I was asking about in my latest poll. Most of you voted for watercolour/mixed media, so watercolor/mixed media it's going to be.
The only thing that I'm not sure about is the color palette... I don't have any skin colored watercolor, and I don't know how to mix it, so lets forget about that. I was thinking black, purple, dirty green, and maybe some red and sand color? Or maybe I'll just mix SOMETHING and hope for the best.
Anyway. This is Henry Cavill, our new Superman. There are so many details (e.g. in his beard, his hair, eyelashes, shirt ...), but right now I'm trying not to think of them and just enjoy drawing him and those awesome shadows . Those shadows were the second reason why I had to draw this picture (the first being that it's Henry Cavill) - I'm a sucker for awesome shadows.
