Wacom Bring Your Vision to Life ContestThe conflict of good vs. evil is one that's universally known. Can good exist without evil? Can evil exist without good? Are they opposites, or one in the same? Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.Hey everyone, just wanted to bring to your attention a plugin that might be useful for you. It's called Lazy Nezumi, and its main function is to help smooth your strokes out when you're drawing. So, if you want really tight, smooth lineart, or just clean lines in general it's pretty great. In a way, it lets you create a digital stroke closer to how you would on paper or a canvas, it just gives you more control. It's akin to the Lazy Mouse feature in Zbrush, or the Steady Stroke feature in Sketchbook Pro (which I'd highly recommend for anyone doing lineart, it has other great features as well).Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There's a free demo for 30 days you can try out first and see if you like it. It has other features as well, but the one I find the most useful is the "pulled string" method under position processing, when you click details. It's something you might have to try to understand, but it can be super useful.
The main issue I see is that

What kind of new narratives will 21st Century storytellers create for our changing world?
Brain Games host Jason Silva tackled that question in a two-minute video called "Lucid Dreaming," outlining the tremendous opportunities (and challenges) facing 21st Century storytellers. As our relationship to technology evolves, the stories w

Please Read. It is about all of you.My wonderful lovely wife, who I believe I adore as much as my hero Kevin Smith adores his Jen, got me a copy of Kevin Smith's book, Tough Shit. I am just finished with chapter 1 and I am hooked, absorbed, in love even. Sorry Kev, I hope that isn't too weird for you. Hero worship and all is the stuff of strangeness at its very heart anyways. I have read George Carlin's book, and Dennis Leary's and now I get to read Kevin Smith's. I enjoy seeing into the minds of my heroes. Already I am taking to heart what Kevin has to say, and with that, I think it is also important to add: Fuck the world, it is can be a shitty, hateful, kick you in the genitals place. However, here, in dAland I have found some very special people to DERP with and I want you all to know that I think highly of each and everyone of you. Each one of you who is willing to go out on that scary limb of sharing yourselves through your art. Please Read. It is about all of you.3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Film as a word conjures up something special. A unique feeling. Almost a different texture than words like movie or video. When someone asks you to go see a movie on the weekend you think, “Oh cool, that’ll be fun,” but if someone asks you to go to a film festival the feeling you get is entirely different. It feels like an investment of your time, one for which you want to plan accordingly and enjoy thoroughly.
And this is exactly what we are bringing you with deviantART Film. An experience meant to be enjoyed from the moment you hit watch to the very end of the film b

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through dA,
Not a troll was stirring, nor Grinch in his sleigh.
Deviations were hung in digital Galleries with care,
In hopes that +Favourites soon would be there.
The n00bs were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Daily Deviations danced in their heads.
And Fella in his 'kerchief, and spyed with his night-light,
Had just settled down to log-off for the night,
When over in the Forums there arose such a clatter,
Fella sprang back online to see what was the matter.
To the browser window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the tabs and refreshed the cache.
When what to his art-loving eyes should appear,
But an animated sleigh and eight commissioned reindeer,
With a little old driver, so creative and slick,
Fella knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than broadband, his reindeer were famed,
After all his favorite art

I am wary of my following message not being received with the full gravity it deserves. It is not my intention to unduly alarm the deviantART community, but... LaurenKitsune is at this time unaccounted for. All attempts on our part to contact her have failed. It is my hope that she has simply taken a much deserved unscheduled pre-Halloween “vacation” and will be back in online communication soon.
Before going dark, LaurenKitsune was good enough to write and transmit a report on the Slender Man phenomenon sweeping the Internet. That report is published here fo

My art was stolen, now what?!You're casually browsing the internet when all of a sudden you see your art ripped on someone's myspace page, or elsewhere on the net, so what do you do?My art was stolen, now what?!9 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Well if you're an American citizen, you're protected under that infamous law known as the DMCA, or the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. If you right click your ripped image and select properties, youll be able to see the address where the image is hosted. If its photobucket or some other easily accessible site then you have it easy and you know where to go to find a support email address. If your image is hosted on a dot com, youll need to do a WhoIs search and the name server that is listed will usually give away the company that is physically hosting the site. You can then get in contact with most sites through a webmaster or support email if you take a quick look around their site.
So now you know where your image is, what company is hosting it, and how to get a hold of them, then you scratch your head and ask

For all who have LUPUS and to those who don't
know what it is, but care enough to learn!
OCTOBER is LUPUS AWARENESS MONTH!
It is also the awareness month of other diseases and disorders.
Unfortunately, Lupus is usually one of the unknowns that people
are just too busy to learn about.
Can I be honest? It's taken me most of this month to sit and
actually write this article.
But, the disease has been a very difficult and very painful process for me,
and I refuse to be defined by it...so, I guess I just don't really
like to talk about it. I don't want to be pitied...but I know...
THIS IS IMPORTANT! There are so many people out there who have
multi-system symptoms and have yet to put the labyrinthine puzzle
Even most doctors aren't that all-too-familiar with the disease.
It's in a specialized medicine category that most doctors don't spend
a lot of time on in Med school; R

It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out to patients.
The idea behind the Holiday Card Project is simple: do something nice for others. However, if you're looking for even more incentive, every deviant who submits a card will be given a free one-month Premium Membership to deviantA

I've lost count of how many times someone, be it a big corporation or an individual, have asked me to illustrate for them for free. It will always go something like this "You draw this for us, and we will include your name in the credits. That's good publicity for you!" as if such a pathetic offer holds any merit.
There was one specific case where a guy wanted to use my drawing as a book cover but didn't want to pay. He said he might print up to 50,000 books, so that's like an amazing offer of 50,000 views for me right? Wrong. 50,000 is nothing. We live in the information revolution. Don't forget we have places like Deviantart, tumblr, and all those social networking sites. Sharing art, like sharing any information, has never been easier. You don't have to degrade yourself for some disrespectful publisher to get you art se

Shine a Light
Light means so many things in our lives beyond mere illumination.
Cinematographers call the hour just before the sun sets “the magic hour.” Movie producers and directors schedule the shooting of love scenes and other important moments in their script to take advantage of the powerful effect that “magic hour” sunlight subliminally exerts on our psyches. The Dutch master painters of the 17th century were expert in focusing the eye on the “story
