be yourself."I used to believe being an artist meant you had to fiercely guard your reputation. That you always had to put out a perfect 'bland' face. As a matter of fact, I believed that when I started this blog a few years ago.be yourself.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I see differently now.
If you're a die-hard conservative, be that person. If you're a bleeding-heart liberal, be that person. If you're a gay fashion designer, be that person. If you're an animal rights activist, be that person. If you're a Christian mother of five, be that person. If you're a militant atheist, be that person. If you're a nerdy diesel truck driving woman who dislikes fairy dolls in a doll world dominated by fairy dolls (that's me!), be that too.
If you have opinions on things, it's okay. Express them! Your opinions are what make you you. And if you change your opinions, that's okay too. People can, and do, change.
Sure, being yourself may lose you some customers. But you

In 2014, DeviantArt turned 14 years old. Fourteen years is a long time, some of you reading this may be younger than that. I've gathered some historical information with the help of Moonbeam13 and some members of the Community Relations team to help enlighten those of you who have joined in recent years and missed out on a chunk of DeviantArt's life.
I hope you enjoy taking a step back in time!
Please note: it is extremely difficult to track down some events in DeviantArt's history (in particular, the first few years) and that some dates are only approximate.

1. Secret Keyboard Shortcuts
Ooooooohh! Spooky! Not, okay, let's get to it: Some of you people don't realize how useful and awesome keyboard shortcuts are, it's less time consuming and can like reduce the amount of time you spend on your artwork little by little
1) ...When adding details you can be editting in 2000% zoom, and still see the 100% canvas so you know what you're doing and how it looks like. You can create as many views as you want! So 2000%, 1000% or 50% whatever you want it's all there.
> Photoshop: Go to Window > Arrange > Create new
> Paint tool SAI: First you have to configure the key; go to Others > Keyboard Shortcuts then with any key just customize the

Cthulhu is Still Calling
Written By techgnotic
Having been thinking a lot about the origins of our globally held Dragon mythos in a recent article Reptilicus Infernicus, I couldn’t help but notice the Cthulhu legend was always lurking at the edges of my mind as I was researching the subject matter.
The Enemy at the Gates, the “Other”, forever lurking in the darkness and plotting an invasion most evil and an enslavement most hideous, is probably the original seminal “narrative” that was born when humans first acq

Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.Hey everyone, just wanted to bring to your attention a plugin that might be useful for you. It's called Lazy Nezumi, and its main function is to help smooth your strokes out when you're drawing. So, if you want really tight, smooth lineart, or just clean lines in general it's pretty great. In a way, it lets you create a digital stroke closer to how you would on paper or a canvas, it just gives you more control. It's akin to the Lazy Mouse feature in Zbrush, or the Steady Stroke feature in Sketchbook Pro (which I'd highly recommend for anyone doing lineart, it has other great features as well).Lazy Nezumi stroke smoothing for Photoshop.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
There's a free demo for 30 days you can try out first and see if you like it. It has other features as well, but the one I find the most useful is the "pulled string" method under position processing, when you click details. It's something you might have to try to understand, but it can be super useful.
The main issue I see is that

What kind of new narratives will 21st Century storytellers create for our changing world?
Brain Games host Jason Silva tackled that question in a two-minute video called "Lucid Dreaming," outlining the tremendous opportunities (and challenges) facing 21st Century storytellers. As our relationship to technology evolves, the stories w

Please Read. It is about all of you.My wonderful lovely wife, who I believe I adore as much as my hero Kevin Smith adores his Jen, got me a copy of Kevin Smith's book, Tough Shit. I am just finished with chapter 1 and I am hooked, absorbed, in love even. Sorry Kev, I hope that isn't too weird for you. Hero worship and all is the stuff of strangeness at its very heart anyways. I have read George Carlin's book, and Dennis Leary's and now I get to read Kevin Smith's. I enjoy seeing into the minds of my heroes. Already I am taking to heart what Kevin has to say, and with that, I think it is also important to add: Fuck the world, it is can be a shitty, hateful, kick you in the genitals place. However, here, in dAland I have found some very special people to DERP with and I want you all to know that I think highly of each and everyone of you. Each one of you who is willing to go out on that scary limb of sharing yourselves through your art. Please Read. It is about all of you.3 years ago in Personal More Like This

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through dA,
Not a troll was stirring, nor Grinch in his sleigh.
Deviations were hung in digital Galleries with care,
In hopes that +Favourites soon would be there.
The n00bs were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of Daily Deviations danced in their heads.
And Fella in his 'kerchief, and spyed with his night-light,
Had just settled down to log-off for the night,
When over in the Forums there arose such a clatter,
Fella sprang back online to see what was the matter.
To the browser window he flew like a flash,
Tore open the tabs and refreshed the cache.
When what to his art-loving eyes should appear,
But an animated sleigh and eight commissioned reindeer,
With a little old driver, so creative and slick,
Fella knew in a moment it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than broadband, his reindeer were famed,
After all his favorite art

I FINALLY GOT ME A JOB.
ONE COMPANY FINALLY ACCEPTED ME.
I WON'T HAVE TO LOOK FOR ANYMORE.
IT'S NOT APRIL FOOLS OR THAT MEXICAN VERSION ONE MIND YOU, HAHAHA! IT'S REAL! I GOT A SPOT!!
Of course, I'm gonna take tests of the rest of the leftover interviews I have, but the company that let me in is a pretty nice place, get a decent pay. Though one problem is that it's in Kyoto, which is preeety far |D;
But I can't be picky over these, if this is the company I'm gonna work for, I may as well do my best. And I hope that maybe I'll become a much more reliable person as I work.
Oh man brb guys I'M CRYING AND MAKING A MESS HERE ABLOO BLOO BLOO ;A;
EDIT: ALSO HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO YOU AMERICANS I'M GONNA GO CELEBRATE FREEDOM WITH YOU, THOUGH IT'S SORT OF A DIFFERENT KIND AHAHHA
