Saber WIP: many photos *_*~ (ECG)Hey people,Saber WIP: many photos *_*~ (ECG)2 years ago in Personal More Like This
sry for being so late with updating you with my latest BIG project.
I'm working on this costume since January and finally I see the end of the long tunnel coming XD.
I wanna show you my now finished Saber Gift Figure armor!
If you don't know that version, you can see the reference here ---> http://www.ncsx.com/2009/012609/fate_stay_saber_gift.htm
If you like what you'll see please visit my facebook artist page as well ;D. There are always ALL progress photos form the stuff I am working on ^.^ ->>> http://facebook.com/calssara.cosplay
well let's start with the raw armor parts, completely unpainted.
I used WOBLAS FINEST ART as my material. It's a thermoplastic material with a mix out of plastic and wood. It's close to Wonderflex, but thicker, more durable and it's easier to make round shapes l shoulders, knees and chest plates. You can also melt the material together and use it as thermoplastic modeling clay!
This is my VERY first armor and even a bloody begin
On misunderstandings about cosplayThis is a topic I've been meaning to talk about for quite a while now. I finally got the motivation to when Sarah sorairo-days emailed me to share my thoughts on what cosplay means to me, and what I feel it really means to be a cosplayer despite all the misconceptions about the hobby. It's for this article on Random Nerds, in which Sarah shares her side of it as well.On misunderstandings about cosplay2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Over the years, I've witnessed how cosplayers are constantly looked down upon, which makes people apprehensive towards it. It's such a shame because it's a wonderful and rewarding hobby which brings people together. And in general, I am firmly against making anyone feel bad about doing something they want to do.
I am aware that the concept of cosplay might be too much for some individuals, but our intention definitely isn't to get all up in everyone's faces and say everyone should cosplay or whatever. We just want to promote a

Many, many months ago last July (that's how late this entry is) a cosplay event was held in the most beautiful location that the local cosplay community has ever seen. Fernbrook Gardens the wedding & events destination which you might recognize from our Kuroshitsuji http://behindinfinity.deviantart.com/gallery/29228688 and Harry Potter cosplay photoshoots http://behindinfinity.deviantart.com/gallery/31767781
It was around that time that the world was getting ready for the final Harry Potter movie, so my friends and I decided that perhaps it was about time to push through with our plans to cosplay Harry Potter characters. Parts of Fernbrook Gardens also looked like Hogwarts so we figured it would be appropriate.
Photos are from my friends, some from albums I was tagged in on Facebook, and some from my own camera.
Here I am with most of my friends that I went to the event with, along with Arnel akagii2004 whom we met that day as he was

I've got another long-overdue cosplay-related journal entry coming up in a bit!
dA PRO Camera Bag
This is a rather late review, but better late than never! This has been my camera bag for a while the dA PRO Camera Bag.
I find it just the right size to carry my essentials, without being too bulky. A lot of my camera-wielding friends with too-large backpacks have repeatedly expressed their envy. Those straps on the front are for carrying tripods. They're removable if you don't need them.
Rubber dA logo on the back.
And here's how it looks when opened. What I've got in there currently is my camera, extra lens, LED camera light panel, charger, USB cord, extra battery, extra memory ca
Simple Tips to Better Cosplayby =:iconBloodlustDetox:Simple Tips to Better Cosplay2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Before I start, I just want to clarify that I'm by no means an expert at all this. I've only been cosplaying a year and I still have a lot to learn, but my tutorials and cosplays get positive responses and I'm often asked how I do certain things, so I decided to put up a few tips that have helped me get where I am.
1. Find a good cosplay photographer
I cannot stress how important this is. I've seen way too many great cosplayers who only have shots taken by their friends or family and it makes me sad their missing out on the attention they could get towards their cosplay if they just had some good photos.
How do I find a good photographer?
Pay attention to cosplayers from your area, whether it be Cosplay.com, WorldCosplay, Facebook or right here on DeviantArt. If you find someone who has a cosplay picture that you really like, ask them who did their photo shoot and ask for their contact informa

COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!Hi guys!! Thank you as always to all watchers and everyone who faves and comments - I'm so sorry I don't have much time these days to reply to everything, but I definitely do read and appreciate them all!COSPLAY MAKEUP TUTORIAL!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I've been asked so many times I've lost count to put together a makeup tutorial on how I do my cos makeup - and I finally did it!
I hope this is a little helpful, although some disclaimers - I have Caucasian features, so my makeup will be very different to someone with a different face shape. I use a lot of eyemakeup, much more than a lot of people, just because I do lol. My eyes a pretty big naturally, so I line them right up the edge, as opposed to widening the eye by drawing further out. A few things like that to bear in mind ^_^ That said, hope you enjoy! *chu*
Any questions please feel free to ask!

Cosplay Photoshoot EtiquetteMy good friend hikaraseru has written a very good guide on how a standard cosplay photoshoot should be conducted in a conducive manner. Want to plan a cosplay shoot, but somehow things just don't turn out right? Maybe the photos were not how you visualised them, or that the photographer seemed to be extra grumpy, or you just don't know what's going on? Read on for how to get the best out of your cosplay shoot:
The 4 Ps:
Having a plan is essential and should take up the most time overall in your shoot. Speak to the photographers closely, because they will be the ones producing the photos that will be the end result; make sure they are aware of the concept and background of the series you're shooting. Some photographers will want to do their own research prior to the shoot (reading the manga/watching the anime/looking up reference photos) - so make sur
Reviews: Cosplay Wig ShopsSo, here we start with the review thingy about cosplay stuff.Reviews: Cosplay Wig Shops3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Since I ran into a loooooooooooot of trouble in the past weeks regarding wigs I will start with them.
First of all some general important informations:
- ALWAYS keep an eye on the feedback of a shop. If there are negative or natural feedbacks READ THEM. Not every negative feedback is appropriate and some shops sell more than just wigs. So be careful.
- ALWAYS be carefull with shops that advertise with asian cosplayers. A lot of pictures are taken from the japanese highclass cosplaysupplier cospediawig or the chinese Tabaeo stores. Have a close look at the pictures. Often you can see some blured details or removed watermarks. I even found some fellow non asian cosplayers by now as advertisment for wigs they definitely didn't buy.
Some shops even take pictures from wigs on wigsstands from other sellers. Look and think twice if you buy there. You can be lucky and get what you see, but there is a pretty high chance you ge

Last year I visited a craft fair and discovered in the paper decoration / paper crafting a super great new material.
Maybe some of you know it.
But here in german Cosplay scene, and perhaps also for many other countries it's really a novelty.
It can be used for paper decoration, for gemstones, paint and much more.
In this tutorial I made a kind of decoration for costumes versions/ setting f
One Dream Continuation...Well, I honestly thought that this discarded project would stay a discarded project, but...yeah. I guess all the comments and urging I got from you guys kinda motivated me to pick it up again. That, and while browsing through my old files for this game, I kinda realized that I really did have fun while making it (despite it taking forever just to get the main menu done and I had spent hours ripping my hair out trying to get the hang of flash). I'll still be using flash to make it, because Renpy's too restricting, and Novelty's too confusing (for me, at least). So that means I'll have to work on everything again from scratch. I'll still be using the old drawings I made for it (because redesigning would take up too much effort that I would rather use making the actual game), but I'll be making some slight adjustments here and there. One example being to get rid of the navigation concept where you are the one who decides where to go. Instead, I'll be making it more of a visual nOne Dream Continuation2 years ago in Personal More Like This

It doesn't feel that long - but in a few more years I'll have been on this site for half my life. Sheesh!
I've improved so much having an audience to show work to, even if the point of the work wasn't an audience - just having a platform from which I could do anything at all has been really amazing for me over the years.
And then... PMD-e... which has been a really tremendous learning experience for me (and others!), in so many ways. I don't want to turn this journal sappy or anything, but I've been lucky to have met so many people and have gotten the chance to help create a community with its ups and downs.
And... speaking of such...
I'll be making a journal later about the state of PMD-e right now - I know the updates have been sporadic, and this has been for a few reasons. I've been thinking about how to word things for a few days now, and I don't think I've quite gotten it yet.
Anyway, for those of you who've been around since

This post is brought on by a complaint I saw recently on facebook, and also by stuff in general.
I for one, cosplay because I love it. I might not agree with people that cosplay to achieve fame (seriously...what fame?), but you know, that's what people do for themselves and it's not my business.
I am human and criticize other cosplay mentally (or with my friends). I won't deny that. What is driving me crazy is people that say others shouldn't criticize peoples' cosplays and then turn around and criticize other people for buying cosplay, or cosplaying a character just because they're hot without knowing the character.
Yes, you can disagree. That's normal. But I find it terribly hypocritical to say others can't criticize and then go off and criticize somebody else. You say you think cosplayers that buy their cosplay or just want to look pretty are posers? Fine. That's your viewpoint. I d

Story of Putting on Kneesock and Limo Prank***WARNING: THIS IS A SUPER LONG AND DETAILED POST!***Story of Putting on Kneesock and Limo Prank3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I get a lot of questions on how waselreins and I did the body makeup for our demon sisters cosplays. So here I'll tell ya'll how we did it, in addition to the whole story about the limo entrance. With pictures!!
On Saturday morning, I woke up at 5 AM to get ready for Kneesock. The limo was going to pick us up at 12:45 PM and I had to help the others get ready so I woke up the earliest to do as much of myself as I could. After the necessary prepping (shower/wash face/brush teeth/moisturize) I put in my contacts and wig cap first.
I used Ben Nye MagiCake Aqua Paint in red for my face and ears. I was told afterwards it's pretty bad for your skin so next time I'm gunna use Kryolan or Mehron, but for Fanime Ben Nye worked perfectly fine for me. Here's a bit more info on it here: http://stageandtheatermakeup.com/bnmagiaq.htm
Instead of water to spray onto the red makeup I used LiquiSet and a foundation brush to apply it to my face.
