Everything is Beautiful...NOT!In the 1960s, Ray Stevens wrote a song titled "Everything Is Beautiful" and it won him a grammy. Perhaps it was the idealism of those times or maybe a personal philosophy that gave birth to this song. It starts out with children singing "Jesus Loves the Little Children", a song I remember singing in church when I was a child.
"Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world"
Like Disney's "It's a Small World", this song has a worm like infectious tune that rolls around in your brain like a marble in a barrel. A child, once he has learned this song, will hum it, whistle it, and sing it until adult ears bleed. Not only is the tune contagious, the lyrics are ideal and Pollyanna to the point of near myopic blindness.
After one chorus of "Jesus Loves the Little Children", Mr. Stevens' song moves into his "Everything Is Beautiful, in It's Own Way" mantra.
The notion he pu

They set up a new one. One which they use to rattle off whatever flatulance they believe passes as worthwhile commentary in the real world, most likely in the wake of mummy and daddy slapping them on the wrist over something - angsty, juvenile pricks that they are.
And juvenile they must be, as anyone with a mite more experience would realise that any weight you hope your words might have is completely lost when someone visits your "slander" profile and reads the numbers "0 Deviations", "0 Favourites", "0 Watchers", "No Journal entries", etc.
It renders your words as vacuous as your gallery.
So if you're going to type stuff like "I feel like some of the smut you draw takes away from the credibility of your art as a whole." or

I enjoy reading the daily news and having a cup of coffee every morning. I scan the headlines on my laptop and eat up all the latest scientific discoveries, local weather, and international news. I enjoyed reading about the asteroid that came close to hitting Earth because it reminds me of how fragile and insignificant we are here on our little blue marble. Our place in the Universe is pretty much meaningless in terms of time and space, yet we think we are not only important but THE singularly important species. A silly thought in my book.
Also in the news I read this: http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2013/05/31/southern-baptists-to-urge-churches-and-members-to-cut-boy-scout-ties/?hpt=hp_t2 It seems a group of humans 16 million strong can't associate with another group of humans because of who they choose to love. It mak

My girlfriend and I traveled today to Atsugi, about an hour train ride from Tokyo. We had some business to take care of there. It was a bit frustrating because we couldn't get everything done we needed to, but the traveling to and from was delightful.
I was amazed, looking out the train window, there was not ONE piece of litter. I think we traveled 20 miles or more before I saw so much as a tissue paper beside the tracks. The Japanese, even in the less affluent areas, are incredibly tidy.
During the morning commute, the subway trains are packed so full there are literally uniformed individuals called "pushers" whose job it is to shove people into the cars as tightly as possible. As the doors slide shut they get very aggressive and carry out their job of sardine commuter packing very seriously and they do it with smiles and white gloves and a charm that everyo

I'm a Puppy!A week or so ago, I read this article that made me laugh and yet feel so sad. Seems there is a guy from India who is in exile and may serve prison time for blasphemy. What he did was investigate what was making a statue of Jesus "weep". Supposedly water is dripping from this statue and people are drinking this "Holy Water" in hopes it will cure their ailments. Tragically, the water is sewage that is seeping up from a leaking pipe! But when this man reported on his findings, the religious were incensed and want him thrown in prison!!!!I'm a Puppy!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I find the story so....well perfectly metaphorical.
I sent this news story to a person I knew, who claims to be very anti church, and it started an email exchange which much to my dismay went ass over teakettle down the hill.
I often post rather anti-religious rant

Q: When was the first time you considered becoming a mangaka, and why?

Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my mind for quite a long time: Daily Deviation suggestions.
But it wasn't until I read Lyricanna's There is no nice way to say it but and alicexz's New DD Suggestion rule that I felt the need to echo their words and add my two cents.
Quality of art: When sending a Fan Art suggestions, please bear in mind that I want to feature unique works. The best of a fanartist's gallery. What I look for in a Fan Art Daily Deviation is not cuteness. Cute just doesn't cut it, like Lyricanna said. I search for emotions, technical skill (composition, shading, colour, etc), interaction of the characters with their surroundings and other characters. I'm looking for pieces that tell me a story and/or show emotion. Of course, there ar

Crimson Garden http://kaoyux.tk/Crimson Garden R18 I can't give you a DIRECT link to my adult site due to dA policies, but let me give you an easy TIP that will help you to find the link so easily It's the SAME link than the one above, but you only need to replace "kaoyux" with "crimsongarden".
*NOTE: The OLD links WORK TOO! They are the same websites but I'd prefer the new link as the official ones because they are simpler.

You use the device in your hands to look at something and you press a button to capture the image you want.
That's the gist of it, but there's considerably more to it than that, especially if you want to take something that accurately represents your intentions.
For Project Educate, I'll be featuring some deviation tutorials on Photography that I like and hope that you yourself will find useful as a budding, seasoned or humbled expert photographer.
They will be broken down in the form of Technical and Creative tutorials. Some will be focused on numbers and basic ideas to compose and make a quality photo and others will be focused on what you can do with those techniques to make advanced visual creations.
For the most part, these tutorials apply to anyone that owns a camera, whether it be your compact, point and shoot or a DSLR.

Cold, dead hands.I'm not going to personally voice an opinion on guns in America. I don't live there and as such: I really don't care how its people live their lives.Cold, dead hands.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I will say, however, that guns in general scare the crap out of me. Seeing, with my own eyes, CO19 march past me while in London and SO18 (http://www.eliteukforces.info/police/) patroling Heathrow sent shivvers down my spine, and those are the guys who know exactly how to implement deadly force quickly, but are trained not to.
If I saw a random, untrained guy in the street with a gun (which is unlikely, thankfully, given that gun control laws here make it damn near impossible to buy even toy firearms) I'd probably soil myself.
In light of everything, though, I think attention should be directed to an amusing clip from the very, very dead (and, be warned; foul mouthed) Bill Hicks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MEzCtyRWP8
Manga Supplies: where to find them. We've made a few posts about small-batch printing and how to go about it, and that can be an important part of making doujinshi for those who do want to go to conventions and sell their work. It's occurred to me, however, that we haven't actually talked about the process of making manga and doujinshi. This morning as I was inking some doujinshi pages of my own, it came to my attention that I was very low on art supplies. There is one website I get almost all of my supplies from, but I decided to look around to see if I couldn't find more variety or competitive prices.Manga Supplies: where to find them.4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll try to make several posts about what kind of supplies I use for making manga, but right now, I want to talk about where I get them. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. I'm really interested in hearing about companies in countries other than the US. I want this to be helpful for everyone! Like I said, I've been ordering from one store consistently for the past ten years.
That store is

Fan Artist of November!!
1. Why did you become a member of deviantART? What do you like best about deviantART?
Oh, I love this question. A friend of mine created my deviantart account. I owe my current artistic life to him. 4,5 years ago, I showed him a few drawings I had in this old school notebook http://ireal70.deviantart.com/art/My-nostalgic-Sphinx-71020280 and a few comic pages I did when I was 12 years old. He encouraged me a lot and told me: "C'mon, you must show your art to the world, use this account, it's a pity you left art, you should consider taking it back up once again!"
And... here I am! I took art back up, but this time I tried digital art. I also must refer to KaroruMetallium. The first time that my curiosity was aroused for digital art was thanks to the pictures she used to draw and post in her "Xelloss' Altar" for

Self Harm Awareness day 1st March 2012Self Harm Awareness day 1st March 20123 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Today marks an awareness day over a subject that can mean many things to many people. Self Harm (or Self Injury) is the act of physical damage to oneself, usually as a coping strategy for expressing deep distress or coping in difficult situations. Self harm commonly is associated with cutting, but can also refer to any physical damage to the self including burning, hitting, taking overdoses, swallowing chemicals, bleaching, hair pulling ( trichotilliomania), scratching and so forth.
You may know what it is, but it is often the reasons why that people are not familiar with. There is still this belief and stereotype surrounding the type of person likely to harming them-self, but the truth is, it could be anyone no matter what gender, culture or age. The reasons behind self harm can be such a huge variety- different people cope in different ways with different distresses. Such issues that may trigger self harm might be bullying, t
