Sage 2Sage walked a little further into the room when her adoptive dad and Mr. Stark disappeared into another room, and she stood silently in the center, glancing around. This was one of the tallest buildings she'd been in, and she was studying the interior quickly and efficiently in that one glance. It was stylish, slick, and modern; designed to be both attractive and productive.
"It's a nice place huh?" Bruce asked, smiling as he watched the teen; he saw the way she was looking around, face blank, and figured that she was sort of awed.
Two pairs of green eyes met and the girl nodded, knowing that a smile would be expected and giving a mild one. "It is; the modern style is quite aesthetic but obviously meant to also be efficient. A good combination; yes?" she widened the grin instinctually; maybe she had gotten too good at faking her emotion, sometimes she wished that she didn't have to, but even her father became edgy around her when she didn't.
Banner nodded in agreement, only slightly pu
Rangers 1With a whistle I sent Rajah off and stood in the Rangers shooting range; breathing deeply to calm myself. He was gone; I saw him leave. He was probably on the other side of Redmont fief by now.Rangers 12 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
The recurve bow was an accustomed weight in my left hand, along with the quiver full of arrows on my back. I took another deep breath and shot at the three targets, which were really only trees; never shooting at the same one twice in succession, like dad had taught me.
The twelve arrows were buried deeply into the centers of the three targets within he space of a minute; I was getting faster. A smile split my face as I went to retrieve them; my aim was slightly high and to the left, but that was why I came here, to improve.
I had pulled eleven of them out, struggling on the last one because it was stuck, when the sound of hoofbeats reached my ears. The Ranger! I pulled vainly at the last one for a second before deciding to risk leaving it and running into the nearby forest as quickly and quietl

But how long can she stay living within her own fantasies; straying not too far from the reality that she is alone? Few friends bringing about the illusion of companionship, part of the time.
And oh how she sits in longing, imagining worlds full of the affection she lacks; the hole in her heart bleeding into her chest, hidden from the world.
And she sat on the bed, governing universes and writing herself full again; full and decomposing, eaten away. The pad in her lap holding her desires like the throne where she sat; for display.
And in her kingdom she sat in longing, wondering at her courage if she should ever leave.

"Hey girl." I opened the door to her stable and ran a hand down her side. She was an old horse, I don't know how long dad had her before he passed, but she was a trooper. I slid the bridle on before putting the saddle on. I gave her a carrot. "Let's hope I get something quick so you can have a rest." I hopped on and urged her into a trot, heading in the direction of the forest close to the Ranger's house.
He was out on the range when I passed by; his focus didn't shift but I knew he was aware that I was riding by. Once we got to the trail I hopped off and whistled low to Rajah. She snorted, throwing her head as I took the reins off and trotting into the forest ahead of me.
I watched her go ahead, staying on the path while I headed off into the brush silently. Tracks; the the h

Rangers 12I sighed after Cera left, leaving me alone with the two Rangers. "Did you really have to push her?" the question was on the tip of my tongue but I managed to keep it inaudible. "Please forgive her for behaving like she is," I stated instead. "She's a little hurt and doesn't quite know what to think or believe in anymore,"Rangers 122 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Why is that?" one of them asked; I think it was Halt but I wasn't quite familiar with their voices yet to be able to tell.
"Dad had hid something from her; she practically worshiped him. And you Rangers upset her too, you have no idea just how much she looks up to Rangers," I told them quietly. "She absolutely admires you guys; for your talent with the bow and for the compliments and praise dad was always paying you," In fact, if I remembered correctly, it was a little secret fantasy of hers to become a Ranger. I didn't tell them that though, that would be a betrayal of trust to say aloud.
"Admires?" the other one asked, looking me over. I nodded.
"She appreciates ho

She giggled and nodded, reaching up to give me a kiss on my cheek. I reached down and tousled her soft blond hair as I set her back on the floor.
"I brought supper," Daisy began going through the bag of groceries; pulling out carrots and potatoes and staring at them.
"These are huge!" she exclaimed as Joseph walked into the room; chuckling and crossing his arms in his signature pose.
"So you had a good kill?" he asked ceremoniously.
"Yes; a huge buck. You should've seen it; I barely managed to get it onto Rajah to take to the butcher, and that was AFTER I gutted the thing." my voice took on a slight bragging tone. "How have things been going over here?"
"Daisy here has a knack for geography," he smiled, walking over and tickling her side; making her squeal, giggle and shy away.
Rangers 4I urged Tug into a trot towards Halt's hut at the edge of town; that girl had a Ranger's horse. But how? Well whatever the reason it can't go to the castle it won't do well there.Rangers 42 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
I dismounted as I rode up to the stables and walked inside; unsurprisingly Halt was already expecting me. "Halt we got a problem." my tone was serious. He quirked an eyebrow and I took that as a sign to continue. "Earlier I saw a girl in the possession of a Ranger horse; they're taking it to the castle to the knight school." I informed him.
He gave a slight nod. "I know."
"Just be patient."
"Ugh." How can he be so calm and sure? Who is this girl. And where did she get Rajah?

Rangers 14I sighed as I laid down to sleep, thinking about earlier. It was a lot to take in. I heard a quiet knock and I left Daisy on the bed to answer it. It was Joseph. I smiled. "Storm finally let up I see,"Rangers 142 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"Yeah; thankfully, I don't think I could have managed to stay all night; the Rangers are creepy silent," he told me. I nodded and sighed. "You were really upset earlier," he stated.
"Yes, I was," I told him.
"You really look up to those guys, don't you?" I nodded. "And dad? You were upset that he didn't say anything,"
"No one said anything. That's what made me upset, no one said anything," I explained; It was like I was a child, like I wouldn't be able to understand if I had been told. "It makes me feel like a child when people do things like that,"
"You know; we've been taking care of ourselves for so long it's hard to remember sometimes that we are children Cera,"

"Hey sis you should have been here Nicky told me about why the clouds are angry!" I smiled and laughed a little.
"Well why don't you tell me then?" I asked. She shook her head.
"No Nicky tells it better," she looked over at him, blue eyes wide on his hazel ones. He smirked and sat down next to me, his arm hanging behind my back but not touching me.
"Well one day the clouds were dancing all around the sky faster and faster and they were all happy and white, fluffy clouds; but then a new cloud came and he was a mean, dark cloud. He kept bumping into the fluffy clouds, making them turn angry and black as well. Once all the clouds were angry they turned to the black cloud that had made them that way and started to fight; but they couldn't tell who it was, so they all fought each other. Now after a while all the clouds calm down and become happy and white again." he laughed, leaning forwards slig

"What time is it?"
"Just after dawn, I thought that you'd want to go hunting Cera," I yawned and smiled slightly.
"I do; I suppose that you'd like to come or you wouldn't have woken me?"
"Well so long as you're inviting me, sure; I'll join you," he smirked more and lifted me off of the bed, practically carrying me over to the other side of the room. I scowled and pressed away from him until he set me down.
"Just try to keep up then; and don't scare the animals." I agreed gruffly to the arrangement. He chuckled and followed me outside.
"So where are we going?"
"The forest outside the Ranger's hut, but first we have to pick Rajah up,"
"You have a horse?"

I couldn't stop the angry edge to my voice as I snapped at him. "He taught me everything that I could benefit from as an adult. He taught me how to work hard and respect others. I do realize that I may not be acting as respectful as he would expect of me and I do hope that you will forgive me for my behavior," I sighed and watched out the window at the pouring rain.
"So you would say he taught you many of the skills Rangers are known to use?" he asked quietly.
"I am a huntress; he taught me how to hunt. Don't twist this Ranger." I very nearly growled at him, warning him not to take the thought any further. I didn't need him polluting the memory of my father.

The old Ranger opened the door; and I knew he had a weapon at the ready behind the crack of the door. "What-,"
"Why?!" the question burst out of my mouth before I could stop it; I tried to calm down but my emotion was overtaking me. His eyebrow cocked in a manor like curiosity. I felt myself begin to shake; a feeling almost like rejection or betrayal invading me.
He watched me silently in a way I knew Rangers were prone to. "Dad was a Ranger; and you knew!" I accused; why should I feel so betrayed? I pulled the dagger out and showed it to him. "YOU KNEW! AND YOU DIDN"T SAY ANYTHING!"
My grip was white on the blade; the layer of leather that made up the sheath was the only thing that kept me from getting cut. I probably wouldn't even notice if I did cut myself, "SAY SOMETHING!"

I jogged to the range for some target practice; that usually calmed me down a bit. When I got there I saw that there was a Ranger already using the range; and held back a dismayed and angry sigh.
He heard me anyways and turned around; his hood was down, exposing his face to the wan moonlight. It wasn't Halt, this fief's Ranger; so I figured that it was William Treaty, he had been apprenticed under Halt and was now assigned to Seacliff fief; he was probably visiting.
"Who are you?" he yelled, beginning to close the distance between us.
"Cera Daranbor; Sir Ranger." I answered; he came to stand a few feet in front of me.
"And what are you doing here?" a flash of quickly- hidden recognition passed his face.

"I wouldn't hurt you, not ever." I promised, she bit her lip and still looked scared. I touched her arm lightly and she froze. "Settle down a bit, relax." I made a bottle of wine appear as well as a glass. She stared at it as I poured the liquid and offered her some.
"How do I know it's not poison?" she asked. I chuckled and took a sip.

I'LL HATE WHO I WANT TO!
But you're not worth my hate;
I'm above you-

Every crack I make
Only serves to counter one of yours-
And they're still jokes.
You think yours sting
I know you try so hard
But you can't insult me-
ALL YOU HAVE ARE LIES!
And not even good ones-
You think I'm not social-
Rather, you say it.
I may not bring them over every weekend
But at least I'm FRIENDS with my FRIENDS!
I'm good to them, they're good to me.
How often do I hear you complain about yours?
You snap at my hobbies,
But at least it's of use;
What are you doing to be remembered?
What are you going to bring to the world?
You won't always get what you want that way
This is what I propose then
