ARTGERMINATION - My Digital Art ChatroomARTGERMINATION - My Digital Art Chatroom3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Many people has asked me about the rationale behind my nickname - Artgerm in many occasions. To me it is more than just a nick, it is actually my mission statement in my art journey, which I would like to see people get "infected" by my works and inspire them to create art. I've been drawing for the past 20 years, in which 16 years in digital medium. Art has already been part of my life long time ago - it is my passion, my profession and my life. Although majority of my time has been devoted to the commercial projects and my family and leave me very little time to impart my art knowledge to others outside of my studio, my mission statement has never and will never change.
As a result, I've decided to setup a deviantArt chatroom recently called Artgermination for all digital art discussions, which I put in a good amount of my time daily to interact with other dA members, sharing with them my journey in art and con
My deviantART storySo before I joined, I had discovered dA, but got the impression that it was almost exclusively for selling printsMy deviantART story1 year ago in Personal More Like This
A little while later, Ankyloce on her other account convinced me that that was not the case, so I joined as well. I had been doing art semi-seriously for a little while beforehand.
Really old stuff from before I joined dA (2010)
Some of my first (aft) uploads:
I made some acquaintances, but most of them haven't been on dA in a long time
I also had some photography, and my one literature deviation: (I don't upload the majority of the things I write )
My pencil art then got somewhat better

Cooking a StoryToday I decided to make roasted carrot soup, which got me thinking that writing and cooking are particularly ripe for comparison. At first glance, both seem easy. Buy these ingredients and prepare them, and voila, dinner. Come up with a plot, write it out, and voila, novel. Both cooking and writing seem like tasks than can be planned and executed through clarity of thinking, fidelity of execution, and sheer force of will. Maybe this apparent simplicity is why everyone you meet on an airplane is writing a book. (Why is it always people on airplanes? Maybe that’s the only place I talk to strangers.) Of course the reality is that there is a fair bit of magic to both good cooking and good writing.Cooking a Story2 months ago in Personal More Like This
As someone who has outlined two novels, and then written two totally different books than the ones I’d so carefully plotted, I can testify that simply writing down the jou

There is always a reason. A level of insult. An unprovoked assault. A threat of invasion. A refusal to negotiate in good faith. A refusal to compromise. There is always something so unbearable that it must be righted with no more delay and by any means, by even the last means, necessary. That final means is war.
Ever since mankind became able to produce and possess more than necessary for survival, there has been a surplus of resources. It is the treasure that has built our civilization and shaped the special magic and glory of what it is to be a human being.
The struggle for control and division of that treasure sometimes infects men’s minds with a unique

In Recognition of Exemplary Membership and an Outstanding Spirit of helpfulness and mentoring within the DeviantArt community.
My name is Jeffrey Cruz and I'm a Melbourne-based Comic book Artist that goes under the pen-name of 'Chamba'. I've been drawing for as long as I can remember, back when I would copy images of Transformers from the back of the toy packaging. That year, my Love for creating art was born.
During my first year of University back in 2003, I was introduced to DeviantArt as part of class task to join an 'online community', something that was very foreign to me. Being part of DeviantArt had allowed me to open up my eyes to the variety of styles that existed beyond my own backyard and of the people who created such works. Throughout the years I've not only made life-long fr

The traditional approach is failing us. It's time for a change.
I'VE HAD IT.
I will no longer encourage aspiring artists to attend art school. I just won't do it. Unless you're given a full ride scholarship (or have parents with money to burn), attending art school is a waste of your money.
I have a diploma from the best public art school in the nation. Prior to that I attended the best private art school in the nation. I'm not some flaky, disgruntled art graduate, either. I have a quite successful career, thankyouverymuch.
But I am saddened and ashamed at art schools and their blatant exploitation of students. Graduates are woefully ill-prepared for the realities of being professional artists and racked with obscene amounts of debt. By their own estimation, the cost of a four year education at RISD is $245,816. As way

Coming OutIt's true, I am Chinese and I was born this way.Coming Out3 years ago in Personal More Like This
At a young age I began to notice this difference. I was attracted to neither boys nor girls. In middle school, I liked math, and in college, I did my homework all night long.
Being Chinese is not a choice, it is genetic. There are risks to being Chinese because society cannot accept the union between a human and a textbook. I have Chinese friends who didn't need sex because they could foreplay instruments and get screwed by O Chem instead. Now, they don't have a social life and are shunned by others.
But fear not, life will get better. I grew up as a Chinese and I am proud of it (just look at my tumblr user name Maid-en-China ). There is the LGBTC (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Chinese) community to help you be comfortable with your Chinese orientation.
1,338,299,512 people came out as Chinese. You are not alone.

I believe in deviantART. Which is to more accurately say I believe in the concept and the reality of the deviantART community.
When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.
