The core book for Contact: Tactical Alien Defense RPG finally released in Germany a few weeks ago so I can start to show off a few of the juicer illustrations I previously held back, starting with the cover! I hear the launch is going well, no word on when an english publisher will license it though. In the meantime all ye Germans can go check it out. Contactrpg.com
Contact has been and still is the biggest project I'm working on. Now that the core book is out, I've been pulled back in to illustrate expansions. This is why I've been low on livestreaming, everything is NDA this time around, sorry fans.
A fast attack mech that trades survivability in for extreme speed and firepower. Using a powerful reactor it makes up for the lacking armor with a reactive energy shield generator (the large fins in the back), which activate directionally as needed to block incoming fire. The pilot (critical organs) are permanently integrated into the machine. Mess of weapons: Shoulder mounted Railgun and Missile launcher Left arm Minigun, Pile driver, and Plasma repeater Right arm Plasma cannon and 2 Autocannons Both hands can also charge up a plasma blast, and of course hand and foot claws are made for ripping up armor.
Woo power armor. Was a lot of work but also fun and very satisfying to see completed. A suit plated in armor using composites derived from alien tech, it can bring weapons to the field that would otherwise have to be mounted on vehicles. It's your own personal tank.
Where do soldiers go after they are discharged from military service? Some go home, some, get back into the fight.
My original incarnation of the Rangers was as a pseudo mercenary unit, I later shifted them into government military but have maintained that there will be military contractors in the story.
This soldier is from a notable merc unit, which largely employs ex Rangers, and has attained the industry and political leverage to acquire some of their restricted technology. The regular joke is "buy everyone's gear and rent it back to them"
This Elemental isn't quite the real deal though. The technology and a skilled pilot are there. Only the lack of highly potent learning AI and it's coupling with the pilot and machine will prevent the suit and pilot from becoming what they're truly capable of. Hence the abundance of additional combat gear.
Here's another art preview from the tabletop rpg Contact that I'm illustrating for ~biometal79 Production will be largely complete within a month, and I'll be sure to let you all know when and where the book can be purchased when it finally goes to print.
I forgot to mention that the last upload was a WIP, that's in scraps now. Here's the finished shot
Nayora Sharp, in her Elemental powered armor Diya. A somewhat reserved soldier off the battlefield, she is often an instructor of new Elemental recruits, running a vicious pace of training including heavy peer to peer combat. On the battlefield she prefers to work alone rather than rely or be relied on by others. Her original specialty in Ion manipulation and the auxiliary equipment on Diya creates a virtual ion cannon, while in the image of Kali and inspired by neural mech pilots, Nayora can use additional limbs in close quarters battle.
