Illustrator Need For Paying Comic Book ProjectLooking for an illustrator for a comic book series that I'm writing called "Night Wolf." So far I have 12 issues written. An artist who can do both illustration and coloring would be preferred, but is not required.Illustrator Need For Paying Comic Book Project3 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Night Wolf" is about a teenager who on his 18th birthday discovers that he was born a werewolf and is reluctantly thrown into a supernatural war between good and evil.
This is a start-up project so I don't have much money, but I do have $2,100 that I can pay for character designs, a Cover and 24 pages for the fist issue.
Once the character designs are finalized, and have some solid sequential artwork I plan to submit a proposal to kickstarter.com and indiegogo.com to get additional funding for the project, publishing, advertising, distribution, etc.
Compensation for future issues is negotiable. Payment can continue to be work on a commission basis, or we can discuss payment based on a percentage of the profit from sales from the title(s) worked on.

"In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people's home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!"

Fan Art Law
Mon Sep 10, 2012 by techgnotic
t seems there’s nothing quite as dear to the hearts of many of our deviants as their production of fan art, and at the same time, there is nothing so knotted with legal and ethical headaches. Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but in the form of fan art it has also become one of the most frustratingly complicated. At some point, the sheer volume of fan art around a single property may become so large that the issue rises to another level of scrutiny by the creators of the original work.
With this dynamic in mind, we thought the following panel that Josh Wattles, our Advisor In Chief here at deviantART, and a mystery guest named Harold Smith, gave at Comic Con this year might be of immense help in understanding the ever evolving elements of fan art

A magic of effective art can be a drawing that appears to be a movie still, clipped from a film narrative, evoking a powerful sense of storytelling— and the viewer wants to know the rest of the story. This phenomenon has recently manifested itself on deviantART— and in a big way— once again.

I moved to the DC metro area following a guy who was not "the" guy. I got a job at a little restaurant as a hostess. A guy from one of the bands that played there monthly happened to be hanging at the upstairs bar alone on his night off. I went up to have my shift drink. There was only one other couple up there that night so we all started talking. One thing lead to another and I found out he had recently broken off his engagement to someone else. After talking all night, I talked him into giving love a chance and getting back together with his fiance. Fast forward to a year later almost to the day, I'd seen the guy a couple times since then. He'd gotten back with his fiance and they'd broken it off again. She was moving back to Texas where he had moved from to pursue her out her in DC. We had been Facebook "friends" (more like acquaintances) since

Squicken - due September 26th...or soMy Hang glider pilot friends called me "Pelican" and it has been my "handle" for many years but my girlfriend (of almost 4 years now) calls me "Squid". I call her "Chicken". So, it seems only reasonable that our offspring should be named "Squicken". He is due September 26th or whenever he chooses to come out and play. On his birth certificate, he will be "Cameron Michael" but he's gonna be stuck with Squicken...so be it.Squicken - due September 26th...or so3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Some of the joys of pregnancy are all the stupid classes one feels compelled to attend. Of course, it isn't fair in the least to refer to these wonderfully instructional forums as "stupid" because there truly is a copious amount of information disseminated during the eons of hours you sit through. Videos, lectures, illustrated instructions, and hands on practice doing all sorts of things one rarely finds palatable. Well, by "one", I mean my girlfriend and me.
What astounds me is how excited everyone in our classes is...well...everyone except the two of us. W

Manavata means “humanity.” A social movement was born in India bearing that name, with “Humanity is our identity” as their guiding mantra. Like the many facets making up a sparkling diamond, here is a collection of photographs to remind us we are, together, one beautiful humanity.
“If art is to nourish the roots of our culture, society must set the artist free to follow his vision wherever it takes him.”

The Importance of Captions in PhotographyWhat IS a Caption? The Importance of Captions in Photography10 months ago in Art Features More Like This
We all know that a picture is worth a thousand words...but a caption is priceless, especially in photojournalism. It's the background, the explanation to your photograph. It tells us why we should care. Austin Kleon provides an interesting insight on them in his article The Power of Captions: Words Added to Pictures.
Also, I'm trying to compress a 2 hour class into a single journal. If you're interested in writing according to the AP Style Guide (I'm talking about commas, dates, location abbreviations, identification, etc.), there's a pretty sweet link at the bottom of the journal.
What's going on in this picture? Is the soldier drawing a beautiful picture of the lady? Is she writing the lady a ticket? Who knows!
Resume and The New YearIt's still strange to say last year, but lots of things happened last year. Both good and bad. I guess there has to be a balance. There was lots of disappointments, bad news but also lots of good things, accomplishments, pleasant surprises... I just hope those bad things disappear and good things continue in 2012. Of course, I wish the same to you my friends who have been really supportive and I have to thank you for that because your support brought me lots of good things.Resume and The New Year4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Maybe I mentioned this already but I had an interview this summer about my photography work. The interview is finally done and can be seen on this http://nstvmedia.com/2011/12/orbis-pictus-e02/ or just click play on the video below. It's in Croatian so most of you won't understand a word. Maybe it's better that way. I really hate seeing and hearing myself. Anyways, a huge thanks goes to neodium.
And one last thing but not less important... Most

I had a very interesting conversation last week. For those that were with me almost two years ago, you know about T. He is a true inspiration for all. Not even two years of all but being obliterated by an IED while still remaining intact, this guy scored a 290 on his pt test and once this shutdown silliness is over, is heading to Air Assault school. Looks like I have no excuse now. All I did was have a baby. I've got some catching up to do. I have this strange need to become 55ths second female qualified for Air Asault, not to mention getting my jump wings.
This feature is for those who are also out there fighting their demons. Hopefully, one day, we can

Portfolio- part I... the preparationsSince I'm trying to wake up and writing helps a lot... I decided to split it in parts. It's too much for one entry. Simple fact on my side.Portfolio- part I... the preparations2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Edit: I will move everything into one PDF when everything's done. This is the noob-version for total beginners. The rest: bear the basics.
The preparation can be split into different parts. Each part has to be done, so don't leave out anything and complain later.
1. What kind of job is my goal?
Okay, you decided you want to apply. Somewhere... but "somewhere" doesn't work. Suck it up and make up your mind WHERE you want to apply because that normally also leads to for WHAT POSITION you want to apply. That's basically the same for freelancer/full-time job.
Ask friends or maybe even those who wouldn't pet you on the head every time you show them a crappy doodle where they see you. Look around and check if your desired company needs somebody like you and if you'd actually fit in. Do some research and prepare for a goal company or at least an industry
