Perfect commission processI commissioned a lot of artists (more than 50) and some of them didn't follow a commission process and only sent the final image after asking for an upfront payment.Perfect commission process1 year ago in Personal More Like This
I won't commission this kind of artists in the future, because I have no guaranty that the artist will deliver a drawing corresponding to client wishes and I had bad experiences in some cases.
Below, I'll use client for the commissioner and artist for the commissioned artist.
For me, the perfect commission process steps should be :
client sends a note or an email to an artist with all details and references about commission
artist should reply quickly (1 or 2 days after received the message, if he's available), accept or refuse commission, and give a price for the commission
client should reply if the price is fine for him (but he shouldn't bargain)
artist should give an estimated delay before starting to work, if he has a waiting list, put the commission in it
once artist is ready

Hi everyone! You might remember last year I released my Skillshare Character Concept Art class and that went down a storm, over 2000 of you signed up for it and it received 100% positive revi
The 10 CommandmentsHello esteemed colleagues! This blog is particularly targeted to those of you who are considering pursuing a career in an art/creative field and those of you who are in art school as well. If you're not doing either of those things, the concepts here are good general advice for anything you're striving for, so definitely hang around and read on!The 10 Commandments1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
These '10 Commandments' were formulated by curator/artist/designer/entrepreneur/amazinginlyawesomehumanbeing Sergio Gomez. I had the opportunity of going to a lecture of his a few months back and it was very inspiring. So without any further ado, here they are!
10. You shall be PATIENT and CONSISTENT
One of the biggest lies you can tell yourself is that you will be an overnight success. Like any skill set, developing your artwork will take time. This is the same when looking for ways to advance your career, it won't fall into your lap. You must be earnest in looking for opportunities to show and sell your work, you
2014 Werewolf moviesWolfcop2014 Werewolf movies1 month ago in Personal More Like This
As the year draws to a close, let's take a look at the werewolf movies released in 2014.
Seven werewolf movies have been released in 2014, a surprising number for a creature that's usually ignored in favor of serial killers, zombies, vampires, found footage ghosties and other creeps that are a bit easier on the special effects budget. The plots don't seem to go anywhere new, following the usual tropes such as hapless schmucks getting picked off one by one and regular joes contracting lycanthropy and suddenly having to cope with bloodlust and body hair. With the exception of When Animals Dream the werewolves themselves when actual characters are white, hetero, relatively youthful and reasonably well-off males. No new ground is being broken, but that's pretty much par for the course with werewolf flicks. Admittedly, it takes lowered expectations (and sometimes a lobotomy) to enjoy the genre. Werewolf-Horror - a New Group DirectionHere at Werewolf-Horror, we're concerned werewolves have a bad reputation and aren't as popular as other classic movie monsters. Our New Year's resolution was to do something about this, and we've voted and settled on a solution.Werewolf-Horror - a New Group Direction9 months ago in Personal More Like This
Rest assured no artwork will be removed from the archives! However, from now on we no longer will accept artwork where werewolves are depicted as bloodthirsty monsters. All submitted artwork should show werewolves in a positive light, as the noble, majestic, misunderstood warriors of nature that they truly are. The real horror, after all, is the human side of werewolves - ugly, wimpy, cruel, environmentally destructive hairless apes. That's why we also will not accept art unless it portrays werewolves as fully-furred with long-snouted, perfectly lupine faces, pawpads, and tails (basically, no human features besides bipedality, thumbs, and dreamcatchers or feathers woven into their flowing manes to show that, like the noble, majestic, misunderstood Nativ
Stockers you should knowHey people! So, one of the many questions I get asked about how to improve figure drawing is where to find a suitable model. In a perfect world, friends and family members would sit for us artists for hours on end, however that's highly unlikely especially if you're looking for an "actiony" pose! Also, those of you who are just beginning to draw the figure need to do so from a human model. Drawing from life is, once again, ideal, but stock photos are the next best thing. Plus I'm always harping about dA's great stock so this is the list of some of the absolute best figurative/pose based human stockers on dA:Stockers you should know1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

Collection: Alternative UniverseCollection: Alternative Universe5 days ago in Art Features More Like This
The “alternative universe” has long been a sci–fi trope, usually simply a good–guy bad–guy heroes and villains reversal. Like the Star Trek episode (“Mirror, Mirror”) in which a transporter glitch lands Kirk on an evil pirate “parallel universe” Enterprise where Spock is a goateed murderer with mutiny on his agenda. But real scientists have complicated things considerably, with “string theory” positing at least eleven (and possibly an infinite number) of “alternative/parallel universes.”
Once upon a time, we pondered our relative insignificance as sin
What is this `Simpsons Evolution`???As many of you followers have been seeing has been a rag-tag collection of sketches and frenetic colorings, but what haven't been treated to is the story behind the Simpson family, 24 years beyond the current canon...so, for the first time, this is what goes on in this worldly spinoff that connects all this "art" together. What is this `Simpsons Evolution`???6 months ago in Personal More Like This
First and foremost, the tone of this spin off is NOTHING like the past 20 seasons of the Simpsons--if the tone was to be compared to the current show, the tone would feel like something out of the first two seasons: A bit brooding, gritty and semi-realistic. (Now, if you're thinking those are the worst two seasons because they're the most boring, please quit reading right now.) In 'Simpsons Evolution', the tone of the series isn't based on random, attempted gags, contrived guest stars or Homer being hurt over and over. Here, the tone is a dark w/cynical humor that's based on the characters and how they relate to the world and each other.

That Green Eyed MonsterI’m not afraid to admit that I have been jealous of fellow artists. Jealous of their skill, their handling of material, their ability to make whatever they were doing “work,” and even jealous of their recognition. But, while jealousy can be a good motivator to push yourself harder, it can eat away at your self-esteem and damage your work. I got the initial idea to write an article about this after reading a news article about Florida artist Maximo Caminero. Caminero was arrested last week after smashing a vase part of Chinese artist Ai Wei Wei’s exhibition in Pérez Art Museum Miami… in the gallery. SORRY IT'S TAKING SO LONG!! USPS raised their rates for people outside the US and I have to make sure I have shipping for everyone in one action. Thank you everyone for your patience. I love you all. (it's true)
I wasn't able to get rid of these books as easily as I was thinking...so I still have them.
I'm running low on the couples books but I still have plenty of the rest.
I'm open back up and would really like to sell them all. Please! 8D
They're super useful and I really want to see people use them. So stop by the store!
The USPS did away with surface to air shipping overseas. That means I, unfortunately, have to charge an additional $40+ to anyone outside of the US (except for Canada, I think). So be aware of that.
How is everyone doing, btw? ...school started and everything else!

As some of you people know, I am a fan of Kill La Kill and have been riffing on the "uniforms" of the rebel group Nudist Beach with crossover characters.
As you can see from the recruiting poster, there is a basic uniform design but you can customize it - as I have - for the various characters I have drawn.
Even the 4 Devas have their very own version of a Nudist Beach uniform so there really aren't any limits except that you can't technically be wearing clothes - you can only wear accessories such as hats, belts, straps, s
Happy New YearLet's all start the year off with some stuff I wish I had growing up:Happy New Year1 year ago in Personal More Like This
So I read an article last night on people who are mentally strong and the DO NOTS of being that person.
I took those notes, and listed them, including how I learned to overcome these obstacles. It's a long read, sorry, but I figured this year it's time to open up and share that knowledge that I was once taught by someone I consider my mentor, business partner and bestfriend, Stephan.
1. Don't waste time feeling sorry for yourself - I used to feel this way as a kid. I was a child of divorce, and used it as a crutch when I was younger. I hate a (mentally) abusive step-mom who would constantly take me down. I began to feel that maybe it was true, and I wasn't going to be the person I wanted to be.
You can't think that way. No one likes or enjoys a Debbie Downer. Someone who is constantly on the negative or pining for sympathy. I began to overcome these complications with art or writing. Using tha

Salvador Allende 1908-1973DISCLAIMER: last year when I decided to commemorate this, I received quite some flame because I wasn't commemorating the two towers, and instead something else. I'm not american, so although I feel sorrow for the death and loss that marked that day for the USA, I don't feel the urge to commemorate it. There are many September 11. I choose to commemorate the death of whom I see as a personal hero. Please be a civilized person and respect that.Salvador Allende 1908-19731 year ago in Personal More Like This
Exactly fourty years ago today Salvador Allende died in mysterious circumstances after the military coup sponsored by the United States of America had put an end to democracy and freedom in Chile, thus starting a dark age of dictatorship, repression, and the well known phenomenon of the desaparecidos, the people who were made disappear by the dictatorship. An approximate estimation suggests that some 40'000 people were made disappear by the military dictatorial government, and over 600'000 were imprisoned and tortured.
