'Things that I love about...'- painting a dollI love to put different hair locks to a doll face so much during the process of painting it it allows me to look at the conceived doll from a different angle and to "polish" the details of her image, and it captivates me so much that I can spend much time at this activity!'Things that I love about...'- painting a doll4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
For the beginning an enigma image: let your imagination fly!
Fantasize a bit, what this new Dea Vivente is going to look like? Probably, she will stay like this, but maybe you will not recognize her when she is a heroine of new photographs.
Right now I'll show you the results of high firing the doll's parts put together. The new porcelain that the girls are cast from is beautiful flesh toned, shining a bit and even shimmering. I'm glad that Dea Vivente are going to become even better.
I like the look of fired porcelain this is yet the "blank canvas" meant for picturing a painting.
And now some words about painting.
In doll sphere, toning the parts of body is called "blushing", and this is
Write 50 Reasons Why You Love Yourself ChallengeHello everyone! I have a challenge for all of youWrite 50 Reasons Why You Love Yourself Challenge4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I challenge you to write 50 reasons why you love yourself. Number the entries and start them all with, "I love myself because..." The reasons can be about anything, but you should think about 50 reasons you love yourself after being bullied. Sometimes after such experiences, it's hard to think of why you love yourself, and that's why this challenge was created. It'll boost your self-esteem and make you realize what a beautiful person you really are
If you think this challenge is easy....I challenge you to go out there and do it

Devious Journal EntryHey everyone, I've had a lot of people asking me about FZD and whether I recommend it. There isn't a short answer. And I don't have THE answer for you. It's a personal decision and every person will have a different set of factors to take into account before making a decision one way or another.Devious Journal Entry2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll do my best to be as straight forward about this as I can. Before I went to FZD, I was doing corporate transaction tax consulting, and I could hardly draw anything. I did a few pieces of abstract art when I was in high school. When looking at schools, I was looking at what would help me gain the skillset I needed to get my foot into the industry. I was NOT interested in schools that you could cruise through working only 8 hours a day. I didn't care about if the teachers actually cared about me or not, as long as they taught me how to do concept art. I didn't care if the teachers were compassionate and nice, in fact I preferred they were pretty brutal and honest. But however they were, I did

"As I mentioned in a previous post, every time a full episode of newly animated “Take 1" footage comes back from the overseas studio Mike, Joaquim, Lauren, Ryu, and I gather to watch it together. Yesterday’s was an ESPECIALLY GOOD one…
I know it does nothing to abate your frustrations over the delay to hear this, but we are very eager to share Book 2 with you. It is coming. Like winter. Except it won’t last as long as a Westeros winter."

Adorkable Apparel -coming Spring 2013!I just posted the teaser pic/flyer for my brand new line, Adorkable Apparel. Just wanted to make a little announcement that it's coming soon (Spring 2013!) and I can't wait to officially launch! I hope you guys like! Feel free to share and let me know if you're excited! I can't wait to unveil all the tops in the line....this is something I've always wanted to do, and I think it'll be really awesome to be able to offer products that are different from the made to order ones in my Etsy shop, Siren's Grotto. I think this is something that will be a little bit more affordable and available for my friends and buddies online, and if things go well, this may be another way I can support myself for making music. Think of it as artist merch meets fashion-and beyond! Hoping to create a whole army of urban mermaids with the first crop top release. 2012Hello people.20124 years ago in Personal More Like This
As some of you know, I have been taking a little break from the Internet. I have been feeling a bit overwhelmed with work, health issues, cosplay and my writing job and since cosplaying is only a hobby, it has been put on the back burner for awhile.
I won't be able to take on any commissions for awhile, either (probably not until fall or winter), but if you are searching for someone to do a commission for you, talk to TerrorSprinkles or caineyamiyasha They make FANTASTIC costumes. Much better than what I could make XD They also do wigs and props. So, seriously, check them out.
That being said, I will talk about my cosplay plans so far for 2012. These plans may change depending on work and money so don't quote me XD
I will be finishing up a few half completed costumes from last year this month so there will be new cosplays from me soon.
February will be fun because there is a new convention in Vancouver twin and I will be checking out. There is also Tsukino Con, but I don'

Republicans have morality upside down. They’re condemning gay marriage, abortion, access to contraception, and the wall separating church and state.
But the moral crisis in America isn’t a breakdown in private morality. It’s a breakdown in public morality. What Americans do in their bedrooms is their own business. What corporate executives and Wall Street financiers do in boardrooms and executive suites affects all of us.
We’re living through a new Gilded Age of financial fraud and conflicts of interest; exorbitant pay to executives, traders, hedge-fund and private-equity managers; tax loopholes that allow them to pay a lower rate than many middle-class Americans; and legalized bribery of public officials through unlimited campaign “donations.”

Finally Leaving DA :) So long my friends!Looong happy journal ahead! Finally Leaving DA :) So long my friends!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hello everyone and happy holidays, I hope your year has been a good one and if not, I hope next year will bring good tidings to you and your family
Now then, onto other things. I just want to say that the following journal has been well thought out and is meant to be a positive thing.
As most of you know, I rarely come on DA anymore. I have all but left, and now it's time I say goodbye. The reason I am writing this journal is because so many of my friends and artists I watch just delete their account or disappear off DA. But I don't want to be like that; I have had a wonderful experience on DA and this site deserves more than that. I have made too many good friends on here.
So, here is the history of Drayok (me) and my time spent on DA and finally, why I am leaving.
DA is the entire reason I got into art. Before DA, I might have occasionally drawn. Like once a year, but never knew what art could really be, never knew what art could do to a person. I found

There’s an awful lot of talk in the political forum lately about restoring America to some nostalgic state of yesteryear, when supposedly everything was better. If we could only get back there, everything would be all right again.
I guess that depends on who you ask, doesn’t it?
Author Melissa Harris-Perry recently appeared on “The Colbert Report” to speak about her new book, “Sister Citizen,” which examines a number of stereotypes of African-American women. As he often does, Colbert teed up a common conservative talking point about “going back to he good old days.” Perry’s response kept ringing in my head for days afterward.
She said that there is no time in American History you would want to go back to as a black girl.
The point is simple but compe

Phantasia is a 35-minute-long suite of music from Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera featuring violinist Sarah Chang and cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. It was released on an album of the same name in 2005.
Blow me down, other Lloyd Webber and Sarah Chang. This is seriously so gorgeous I could cry.
Then again, it was a long day, so I think I may be hallucinating.
You have to listen to these--it's like Erik and Christine ARE the instruments. This is probably the best instrumental interpretation that I have ever heard. All hail the violin and the cello!

CreaToon Tutorial: Rendering Window startup issueFrom what I could read from others, I am not the only one with this problem and for most, this is the reason why they give up using this program. I can understand their frustration, but at least in my case, I found a solution.CreaToon Tutorial: Rendering Window startup issue3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The preview/rendering window is all scrambled up (or in some cases black):
While this is what it should look like on startup:
Copied from CreaToon's FAQ:
When I start CreaToon, the rendering window is containing garbage. What's wrong?
This is a common problem when your computer's graphics card lacks proper OpenGL support. This may be due to an older driver version, or simply because the card doesn't properly support OpenGL. Look on the card manufacturer's site for the latest OpenGL drivers for your card.
Another solution that seems to work on most Intel integrated graphics cards (but which may cause CreaToon (or even your PC as a whole) to run too slowly) is to d
MyPaint vs SAIWe were recently asked whether MyPaint works better than SAI or Corel. A million-dollar question!MyPaint vs SAI5 years ago in Personal More Like This

I can't speak for Corel as I haven't used it, but SAI (Paint Tool SAI) was my primary painting tool before I discovered MyPaint. Here's a quick, by no means complete, comparison of my experience of the two.
Here are the official sites of the two programs:SAIMyPaintOn the face of it, both SAI and MyPaint are not too different. They are both lightweight painting-specific programs that do not require the memory of full graphic editing programs like GIMP or Photoshop. MyPaint is more focused on emulating brushstrokes in a traditional canvas situation, while SAI incorporates a number of digital effects such as basic layer modes and vectors, and seems to focus on providing an easy ready-to-use painting interface, particularly for anime-style art.

You are the cause and effect of your life. God will be there for you, whether you're happy, sad, depressed, discouraged, crestfallen, or feel worthless. You will live life, this is your life, you will live it, YOUR WAY. You have one opportunity, do not let it slip.
Whatever you do, be exuberant, be grandiloquent, maintain a calm demeanor, respect peoples' proximity, don't demean other people, righteous people are always greater than those who are wicked.

How to make BJDs?Recently I'm asked often to teach people how to make BJDs. So I decided to put all the info in one place so I could give only one link. How to make BJDs?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
BJD (Ball-jointed doll) is a complex creation that consists of many parts and is strung with elastic. The joints are based on the balls (spheres) mostly or on their modifications. Good BJD in my opinion is not only properly stylized but also has a well thought-out jointing system that allows to hold a wide range of poses. Every type of joint serves a certain purpose.
BJD construction requires a lot of research: trial and error or usage of free knowledge from the open sources. So here the links list goes:
* Aimi-doll, a very good tutorial in Japanese: making a BJD from the scratch. http://www.aimi-doll.com/howto/
Many artists started from there, me included. I use this method of sculpting the head while making realistic BJD heads that have a real or 3D prototype.
You may use Google translate to understand the text but the pictures are pretty self-explan
