Spirit AnimalsSheila walked slowly nervous and lost under the oppressive dark of the trees that night. An owl hooted in the distance, and closer things moved just out of sight. She could barely see ahead under the dim moonlight. She stumbled forward cursing the lack of a lantern or magical lights as the low branches grabbed at her ratty clothes. No matter how much she rubbed her side, she could not get warm.Spirit Animals2 months ago in Settings More Like This
The plain girl sighed and kept walking hoping to make it to her village before she collapsed from exhaustion. If only she could… Out of the corner of her eye she caught strange light. A blue illumination lit its surroundings like fire. She crept towards it and saw an ethereal wolf! It was monstrous in size and body blazed in blue flame. It lay alone resting on its side. The girl stared at it for a moment awestruck by its mysterious beauty.
Suddenly, the wolf’s head rose and its head and ears slowly searched for what observed it. It clearly had nothing to fear. Sheila froze like

Rancid bites from holy teeth
Burn a blackened cherry tree
No one said freedom was free.
Charcoaled bible, ash choked lies
Bull shit words everyone stands by
A Book that will hide the tears you cry
The foolish comfort we live after we die.
A sacred immortality
Hand in hand with freedom we don't see
Inverted symbols equal intolerable fees
A blind-hearted believer is not what I be
Fire burns forever after,
Hymns reduce the joyous laughter
I've got spirit but I don't understand
Structured religion kills the faith that I am.

Listen to what they say.
If we were so devoid of trust,
If we were to decay,
If we closed our eyes in fear,
If we were mortal still,
If instead of far were near,
If we lacked such a skill,
If we were anything but Gods,
If we were human beings,
Perhaps I'd comprehend their thoughts
And desire to steal our meaning.
Their love of science and fear of unknown
Have stripped each God of his rightful throne.

Just like me

Silently we live together
Silently we cry together

Chrissie, Horse DateChrissie walked up slowly; sedately. She hid her eagerness, though mostly from necessity. Running didn't suit long black dresses, or high heeled shoes; it wouldn't match the dignity expected of a woman with ruby red earrings, made to complement her hair; most of all, it wouldn't make the best impression on that night's date.Chrissie, Horse Date4 years ago in Flash Fiction & Vignettes More Like This
Moving to the front desk with a definite swerve, she smiled at the clerk. "Evening."
"Good evening, Ma'am." He smiles, a bit more friendly than really suits a waiter; but it paid to be on the help's good side. She smiled back. "You look ravishing tonight, if I may say so."
"Thank you," Chrissie responded, keeping her voice cool; not cold, but retracting a little of her friendship. "I have a reservation for two tonight?"
He nodded, looking down at his computer. "Yes, ma'am Ms. Chrissie, right? With a Jake?"
She smiled wider, nodding; "That's right. Table for two, close to the bar; has the hot serving arrived already?"
The waiter shook his head

Notice: For those who are wondering, Hilda is the English name for the girl hero from Pokémon Black and White. Hilda is named White in Japan and god knows what else elsewhere. The boy hero of the same games is called Hilbert in the US, called Black in Japan, and god knows what else elsewhere. If anyone is wondering where these name ideas came from, I have confirmed that they both are names from a classic Nickelodeon show called "Hey Arnald". Both Hilda and Hilbert are names of characters from that show. Well, I say that Hilda is a character name from the show, but Hilda is actually a play-on word for a different "Hey Arnald" character named Helga, which is 2 letters off from Hilda. Hilbert, however, is the exact name of a character from the show though I forget which one but I do know for sure Hilbert is an exact character name from the show. If you are from somewhere other then the US, simply replace Hilda with whatever the girl hero for Black and White is cal

Okay, so I will now write about religion. The religion I am most familiar with (and the one everyone shoves down my throat) is Christianity. I am NOT against Christianity, actually. I am completely okay with talking and being friends with people who are Christians. However, it seems that once you tell them you are an atheist, some of them think you are a horrible Satan-worshipper and they try to 'fix' you. I realize that not all Christians are like that. I have some Christian friends that are fine with people not believing in a deity. These are things that Christians have said (the ones that push religion down your throat). I am writing this from an atheist's point of view.
1.) You don't believe in God? You're going to Hell.
First off, telling someone who is an atheist that they are going to Hell is rea

You can spout your bullshit to your mindless sheep,

Lorelei sighed as she marked off another day on her calendar. Tomorrow was the couple's day, Valentine's Day, another day where she would be alone again. She looked to her mirror and looked at herself, seeing her long fizzy brown hair curl around her face, her thick black rimmed glasses covering her freckled cheeks and her hazel-gray eyes. She was cute in her own sort of way but was probably a little to "academic" for the shallow crowd that occupied today's high schools, and she couldn't help but feel a little ostracized for being who she was. She focused on her studies because it was all she could do since her social life was little to non-existent. She wasn't one for make-up and all the fuss it takes just to be presentable for someone to notice and she hoped that eventually the right one will show up and like her for who she is.
Anyway she thought Valentine's Day was another scam by the retailers to get some misguided guy to pony up some extra money jus

The sight of June skipping across the meadow was like something out of a picture book. Her long brown hair flowed and ebbed behind her like a wave as she laughed her child-like laugh. For the moment, June was caught up in the shameless bliss that comes with the knowledge that one is free of any judging eyes; alone she danced with nature, and only when by herself did she frolic so. She spun in glee, flinging her skirt up and catching flower stems between her toes as she whirled across the field of blossoms. Finally, dizziness overtook her and June fell to the damp, soft earth, giggling and holding her head.
What could be better than this? she thought as a few Combees buzzed past. Summer vacation would be starting soon, and she'd be able to come out here every day if she wanted. Out here she could watch the pokémon going about their business, some playing, some working, and others seemed to be just enjoying the day like she was. June loved nature like nob

"Oh I am so going to be in it now!" Clair mopes to herself walking back home with dread in her mind as she had just received her results in a geography test and it wasn't the best. Clair was terrific in her classes, English, Maths, History were her favourite and she was okay when it came to Art and Sports but Geography, she was terrible at it so bad that the first time she heard a plateau she thought it was some sort of special dish at a five star restaurant. None the less, Clair needed to get her grades up to party tonight and now she won't be able to. With a sigh she makes her way to her front door and "makes her way inside.
"Hi honey, how was school?" Clair's mother asks.
"Usual, nothing special to report!" Clair said making a straight line to her bed room to throw her beg inside.
'Maybe if I just don't mention it, she'll just let me go anyways!' Clair thought as she quickly makes her way out of her room and return to her mother.

You want me to do, what?! Monica shrieked.
I already told you once, just get into the deeper half of the pool. You only have to go an inch, and we will gradually creep in that direction until you get used to the depth, Tammy replied.
Monica gulped. She was completely afraid of the water, swimming and anything of the sort. She stared unwillingly into the bright blue color of the chlorinated pool, and grimaced at the bad memories it had brought back.
Monica stood at the top of the ladder of the water slide, shaking with fear and confidence. She knew that her parents were counting on her to conquer her fear of the seven-foot tall water slide and go down unharmed. She would make it down, and turn out to enjoy it after all. She imagined it, the splash of the pool against her near-naked body, the cool rush of the air that followed her in, and the bounce off the bottom to come back up to the surface with her mother and father both smiling

"Typical." He muttered. "Where's the warm weather we were promised? I hate living here."
His irritability could also have been a result of his less-that-stellar job hunting performance so far. Despite many resumes and applications dropped off, the phone remained persistant in its silence. Living in a small town with under 10,000 people didn't help, either. Just as he began to mope again, Mike's younger sister knocked on his door. "What?" He growled. She wandered in, griinning.
"Still looking for a job?' She mildly teased. "Well, no shit." He shot back, irritated. She smiled. "Well, guess what? The lab at the Hospital needs some volunteers for some experiment. The news claimed it was some big breakthrough

Tired eyes roam the span of the highway and then lock on to the hue of a red-light at the corner of Lennox and 33rd street in downtown Washington D.C. Young Emily heaved a deep tired breath as she waited impatiently for the light to turn green. Seconds seemed like minutes, minutes like hours. She had driven from Richmond VA all the way to D.C. to meet her dear friend Alina Tyler. They were going to spend the weekend together. It had proven to be a much more difficult task to reach her home than she had initially figured. By the time she reached River street she was completely exhausted. She pulled her things from the trunk of her Dodge Neon and stalked tiredly to the door marked with a number 18. She promptly dropped her bags as a rather tall woman bumped into her and kept walking. She'd walked angrily around seven or eight feet before stopping and turning to Emily. "Apologies love, I am just having a horrid day."
She turned and continued walking before giving Emily a chance to respond

And so are the wolfmen
But what about a monster like me I ask?
Do I deserve love?
The people laugh and point
And say look at that freak
I'm like a caged animal
Tormented with pain
And when I do something good
The people hate me for it
They hate me no matter what I do
Like the monster I am
My scars will never heal
Like they did before
I am alone and for all eternity
The monster I am
I was made with the people's evil
They created me because they wanted to be God
But they view me as a mistake
No matter what I do
I am the monster everyone fears
But people do not fear the vampires and wolfmen
They are the beautiful people the people claim
Even though they have "minor" set backs
The vampires spit in my face
The wolfmen kick me into the dirt
The people laugh at the tormented moster
The monster I am
There' no love for me anymore
Why didn't I see that before

I lay back on the cool sand and shivered as water washed over my legs. The ocean felt warm compared to the sand as it had been a cold summer so far. But that didn't matter. It felt like nothing mattered anymore.
See, a few days ago, my parents had broken to me that we were moving. Like many families with a moderately low income, they could no longer afford to live in the nice part of the suburbs and opportunity for work had struck up elsewhere. So naturally, like any good parents wanting to provide for their kids, they leaped on the positions which paid better but required moving farther inland. They would be starting work in two days.
Tonight was my last day here and it really made me sad. Being summer, most of my friends were out of town so I would not even get to say goodbye before leaving forever; or, as my parents put it, "leaving temporarily". Both my sister

You don't know me yet but let me tell you something about me: I'm just an embryo.
I have no conscience and no thought process. I'm just living off YOUR body for now.
I am basically a growing vegetable. I don't have a name. I don't know my name because I don't even know what a name is.
I'm barely a human being at this point. I don't even look like one. As a matter of fact I'm not even the size of a quarter.
I have the the potential to live.
But I have no concept of that so it's really your choice seeing as I'm in YOUR body.
Oh wait, you aborted me.
Cool I don't have a thought process or feelings anyways.
You made your CHOICE. I have no regrets as I was never aware and again I can't feel. Which means I don't even exist to write this parody of a failed guilt trip.
Each abortion made is another woman's choice. A right executed and one less ass to wipe.
BRING ON THE HATE!
