Free adviceSomeone recently asked me for some advice about going to art college and becoming an illustrator. Here's what I said. Maybe someone here will find this interesting too...Free advice3 years ago in Personal More Like This
1) It's a tough life as an artist. You need more than just good drawing abilities to get by. I know a lot of people who are WAY better than me but can't make it as artists. You need to be personable and likable. Work on your people skills and be sincere. People can tell when it's fake.
2) Learn a broad range of skills. Don't just focus on illustration, but also learn the fundamentals of design, sculpture, painting, storyboarding, etc... those skill will help you more than you can possibly imagine.
3) Be yourself. Find your own style and really refine it.
4) Don't waste your education. Don't go out and party and drink when you should be studying and doing homework. They give you that homework for a reason!
5) Always try to be the best. Challenge yourself to make your assignments the best in your class. Always try to be

Explanation for my Recent Disappearance. Please read this with understanding:Explanation for my Recent Disappearance.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is and will be probably my most difficult and most humiliating thing I have ever said.
All I need is compassion, and understanding.
I don't need opinions, I don't need pity, I don't need your advice.
All I need is understanding.
As you all may have noticed, I have not been around.
I have not communicated with anyone, and I have not been posting as much.
I have over 10,000 messages here on dA that I have yet to respond to, a lot of them important. I have not chatted on Livestream as much, and overall, I seemed to have disappeared to you all. I have a lot of people asking where I am, or when's the next time I'll be around. It breaks my heart to read these, and more so, to not be able to respond honestly.
I have been having a really difficult time lately in life. Things just aren't seeming uphill for me, and it's literally wasting me away. I have been dealing not with actions in life, other people, or outside stress, but with the

A crew and much more time.
The money's all mine
And my funds are getting thin.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create a premium, top of the line automaton! You people are the best roboticists we've got, and our clients want nothing less than 'excellence'.
1: Due to a lack of resources at the moment, the number of allowed parts per builder is restricted to 300. We're got plenty of space though, so be as large as you want, but remember that more detailed looking machines require more parts and therefore have to be smaller!
R.I.P. PockyIt's really hard for me to tell you this but Pocky passed away about 12 hours ago, at 1 pm Friday Oct 25th. I lost my balance in the colony cage and accidentally step on him who was behind me. He didn't die instantly. I thought he wouldn't. He could still fly and when I put him on my hand he had started panting. When I brought him inside my house, he had a fit then died.R.I.P. Pocky2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I can't stop crying now. I feel so horrible and hate myself. I miss him so much I can't stop crying and calling his name. It's so hard to accept his death. I can still feel him everywhere. Everything in my house reminds me of him. I can't sleep on my bed because I usually snuggled with him there before we went to sleep. I can't believe he had to go away like this. I feel so guilty no matter what I try to think of, no matter what my husband said. I can't even cry as harder as I want because he will be mad.
I don't know if Pocky knew his time would be up soon. But this month he wanted to cuddle more with me. He usually a
Reflections and PredictionsI'll start by talking about a topic we're all familiar with: technology.Reflections and Predictions3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, I don't know about you, but I'm quite happy with technology these days. My computer does everything that I want it to do, at a pretty good speed; my Dad has a fancy camera, but more importantly, he lets me use it; then there's various other gadgets of the 21st century, like 3D TVs and smartphones, and they're all pretty awesome.
And yet, it is often the case that we look back into the past, at, say, my parents' generation. They didn't have the luxury of computers, their cameras relied on film instead of pixels, and things like 3D were unheard of. Compared to our current living standards today, it's easy to think that life was 'hard' back then - but they lived through it quite happily. Perhaps, while they were writing letters instead of texts, they felt grateful that they had a postage system at all. In fact, they probably felt the same way as I do now: "Wow, we have this fancy new stuff like trams. It must've

deviantART has given me the opportunity to perform two Community Volunteer positions here:
I am the Science Fiction and Space Art Community Volunteer.
I am also now the new 3 Dimensional Art Community Volunteer.
One of the duties of these positions is that I can feature artwork from these categories as Daily Deviations.
I browse through these categories daily in search of deviations to feature as Daily Deviations.
This feature is to help the artist and their work gain more exposure, and it's genre and/or medium gains more community awareness as well.
But I need your help.
Have you seen a work of art here on deviantART which you have found so impressive or otherwise interesting enough to deserve being brought to the attention of the community-at-large?
Do you know an artist of whom deserves much more exposure?
Would you like to put a smile on someones face and make their
Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant! On Saturday, June 14, 2009, deviantART held a deviantMEET at the Albert Memorial in Hyde Park. Over 350 deviants showed up to celebrate all things deviantART, setting a record for the highest attended deviantMEET in history in the process... until now.Our London deviantMEET Was Brilliant!3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Almost exactly three years later -- on Saturday, June 30, 2012 -- at the same location in Hyde Park, London deviants once again turned up in droves. Smashing the previous record, our London deviantMEET 2012 saw over 550 deviants throughout the day.
Most deviantMEETs include a group photo, usually taken towards the end of the event's festivities. However, we wasted no time taking our group shot in front of the Albert Memorial, as we wanted to ensure we were complying with Hyde Park's rules and regulations for large gatherings. With a group this massive -- and awesome -- it's hard not to draw attention!

Sketchbook Pro 6So most of you know that I'm a Sketchbook Pro user.Sketchbook Pro 63 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few days back, Autodesk released Sketchbook Pro 6, and I think this is the version that's going to make a lot of people who have YET to experience Sketchbook Pro in full, or haven't really given the past versions a chance, switch over to making it their digital drawing software of choice; heck, even their PAINTING software of choice.
We still have the cleverly-designed user interface, that makes it easy on the eyes and mind when we're brainstorming and sketching. With the handful of new tools introduced, we still have a clutter-free drawing environment, and man, there's some awesome tools this time around. I'll go down the list:
The Brush Library
The main brush toolbar itself has a click-and-drag function, allowing you to store all your often-used brushes in each of the "lanes". You then can click the button on the upper-right and then a fu
London 365Today I am starting a new project, London 365. Everyday I will choose 1 favourite of all the pictures of London uploaded during the last 24 hours and add it to the "London 365" folder in my Favourites gallery. At the end of the month, in a journal post, I will feature 10 favourites from the last month. There's no criteria influencing my choices. I know London well and basically I'll just pick what I like - whether I think it is particularly creative, iconic or novel. But I do hope this is a project which other people may enjoy. I love London a great deal and this is how I'm going to celebrate it. Take care & Happy New Year 2014.London 3652 years ago in Personal More Like This
I got the book!I drove up to UDON HQ a night or two ago and got myself 5 copies of the GIRL SEVEN book! It looks really pro and the images are almost full size to the page! I can't believe it's done.I got the book!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After the kids went to sleep wife and I read the book from start to finish soaking up every detail. Only 3 spelling mistakes I found, but more importantly all the images printed out nicely. Overall I'm happy with the outcome and I have no doubt that with the additional commentary for each piece it will be more than just another artbook.
I am already thinking of new concepts for the next book including some story plot as well, though nothing is in stone at this point. I will be putting together some more prints, though right now I have to do some UDON work before I can get to that.
I should mention that to all of you who did order the book online, or will do so, please give it a high rating on the amazon site. This actually does help me out quite a bit. If the book sells well enough, it will wa

Oh DA, when will you learn...?Sigh As some of you might have noticed, two of my most succesful pieces have been reported (and surprisingly taken down even when I made sure that they didn´t overstepped DA limits). Those would be "Hounds & Bitches" and my, by far, most trascendant, "World 6-9".Oh DA, when will you learn...?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Truth be told, I couldn´t give less of a damn at this point because, luckily, my name has reached other viral image posting websites aside from this particular one (Newgrounds, Mangabullet, G.E-Hentai, McAnime, Rule34 and many more), where people there have enough living braincells as to not blush in mortification by looking at some women's breasts.
However, that´s not the case of the 90% of the people trying to make a name for themselves out there, and the fact that this website still keeps up these "witch hunting" bullshit when some overly moralized nobody reports having seen a clitoris is something I was, are and will be forever opposed to.
Just for the mere act of mental exercise, I wonder every time I

I would have gotten back to them, but unfortunately had to go to the ER for a jaw infection that consumed a good chunk of my face. Been a shoddy last week or so, but i'm healing and back to normal (one could beg to differ).
While in there, I was thinking of how much art means to me. I often hyper focus on it, and don't pay attention to my surroundings, thus how I've ended up in the ER twice this year already. Lately, I've been hiding my work and not sharing as much, due to wanting it to be the perfect reveal. But what's the point, if there's no art to show?
I want to make a strong effort back into Deviantart. This community is what began LMS and turned it into what it is today. Check out the first book LMS: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter: Here

Avoid getting ripped off by a client. As a freelancer most of your business takes place online, which makes it really easyAvoid getting ripped off by a client.1 year ago in Personal More Like This
for people to rip you off. How many times have we seen the following scenario's:
1- Someone offers a descent payment for your artwork but wants you to do an art-test first.
after the art-test you're being told you're not good enough. Later you find out that other people
got to do different art-test topics and also weren't good enough. The client clearly ripped people off to get free artwork.
2- Someone offers good money for your artwork. The sketch gets approved so you continue working. Right when it's done the total image suddenly becomes a great disappointment and the client ends up not paying you.
These were just 2 examples of situations that happen a lot to freelancers. There are many more like it.
How to detect if a client is a bit fishy...
Does their email address look professional? Some legit people may use their Gmail address, with their real name or nickname, those are questionabl
