The dark lantern swung dimly in the chilly ally. The wind whispered in hushed tones, picking up crumpled pieces of paper and flung them across the uneven slabs of stone. Haunting beams of silver light was being cast down by the bright moon which hung looming over the town, half shadowed by puffy, dark clouds.
The young boy was crouched behind a stack of UPS boxes in the alley, a long black coat going down to his knees as he was curled up, nibbling off of the ends of a piece of moldy bread. His neck was covered by a thick black and green scarf, which wrapped its way around his throat, ripped and stained, it was a piece of junk, but the boy held it firmly in one hand, as if it was the most important thing in the world.
He was just a kid. Seven years old, with ebon black hair that tangled its way down to the bottom of his ears. His skin was an unnatural pale, and his ribs could be seen through his wet, dark t-shirt. He didn’t wear any shoes

The Lie of VengeanceThe Lie of Vengeance:The Lie of Vengeance3 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It begins first as a smouldering fire;
A heat that swelters and burns inside your own heart.
It then roars to life as a flame of destruction;
Seeking, hungrily, to consume all who are bound by it...
This is the gift of vengeance
A kiss so sweet that it could only be an evil temptation.
Yet all will seek it in darkness;
For there is none who can resist its sweet allure...
It is like a friend in your time of need;
Comforting and seemingly understanding of your pain.
It tells you that you need to stand up for yourself;
It tells you that others must fall for you to live on!
But this is a lie! Obvious as it might seem;
Many fail to notice the intricacy of this deception.
It is difficult to fathom that the glory and relief which vengeance grants you;
Is naught but an ephemeral wind, existing only for a moment...
Shame and guilt will then crush your spirit
And the emptiness of the void begins to ring hollow within your soul.
The hole which you
Graviton BombI shall start at the beginning. Now, while this is usually the logical place to start anything, it will become apparent that, in this situation, that is not nearly as simple as it may initially appear to be.Graviton Bomb8 years ago in Science Fiction More Like This
A beginning signifies a single point in time; a position in one of the four dimensions we inhabit. Of these four dimensions, we transverse three of them on a daily basis with little or no concern. In contrast, we have no direct control over the fourth dimension whatsoever. Irrefutably, and indefinitely, time flows from the past to the future just as the grains of sand fall through the globes of an hourglass.
This single fact could be the cause of the situation in which we now find ourselves. Mankind has never been satisfied with what we are naturally capable of. Simultaneously, this lust for improvement above and beyond the boundaries nature has imposed upon us is equally our greatest strength and our greatest weakness. While our ability to engineer and adapt has allowed us to reac

She catches herself on evenings like these trying to say exactly the things she doesn't want to say, so she writes them and tears them apart instead. Her pen is forming a man-made lake on the paper as she writes A-A-A-A-A, unable to finish your name.
In the dead of night, after she tells you she is going to sleep, she sneaks out, marks her garden with a sign bearing your smile, and plants a seed. She fights her right hand as it reaches to flood ink and dirt over your picture and your seed, and she tries to describe to it what the tree will look like, but she honestly has no idea.
Sometimes she lies when you ask how she feels, like when you wanted her to tell you about the first time she saw the sea. Staring at the waves, drowning what they love and falling in love with what they drown, she almost saw the curls of her hair, the cold glint of her own eyes in the capricious, roiling water, but she told you she just grabbed some shells and went home.
You snort and say she has no idea what

Upon malodorous rapture of orphaned darkness,
eternal melancholy becomes twisted and hollow
In the severed reflections of sanguine shadows,
we will drown in ruby tears of pain and sorrow
Whispers of odium seep gently into my dreams...
The Raven lingers in solemn clouds dark as coal
My blood surges like a chorus of bitter requiem
And my lips the anathema of your dying soul
Dark lust hums like a cold tide of weeping voices
Perfumed in ash & bone, hallucinations imbue
Blood soaked robes hang from my slender bride,
shimmering like scarlet threads under ebon skies
After sable petals fall upon my beloved's grave,
there will dwell but ravaged winds of lonely cries
O' Witch of mine, dark'n dreary, forsake me not
In a sombre kiss, veiled in falls of ambient pitch,
we drift into the renaissance of the Falling...
ever dreaming and bathing in the poetry of death
In the web of mortality demons haunt & undress,
Deep in the gloaming, I beseech thy last breath
My thirst seeth

She sits alone, over there in the dark corner.
The walls painted black, the floor covered in blood.
Tears running down her cheek, her hair covers the deep wounds.
She aims the knife against her throat; "the one deeply wounded
shall not continue his journey in pain, but rather live forever in paradise".
White HoleI found myself watching the device over steepled fingers, pursed lips resting against my thumbs. The keyboard in front of me lay silent, while the display on my monitor continued to flash ominously, reeling numbers increasing more quickly than the eye could track, while a second set counted down at a more sedate speed.White Hole6 years ago in Science Fiction More Like This
The device itself was little bigger than a credit card, but I could hear the reinforced steel of its cradle groaning beneath its weight. That iconic white faceplate no longer seemed quite so clean and innocent; there was something sinister about the glossy surface. Saruman the white revealing his true intentions to Gandalf.
At the end of the day, it was the damned theoretical physicists who were responsible. But they couldnt really be held to blame. Its always the way with incredible breakthroughs; no-one ever considers the long-term implications.

Their roar will thunder across the mountains as the very earth will shake
These ancient beasts of might and magic, are fury and strength personified!
How many of you will remember the days when we were told to hide?
Our mothers would wrap us in special blankets and calm us down with song
We would cower in holes like tiny rats whilst our parents acted strong
The Dragon would burn our homes away and all would turn to dust and ash
Our entire lives would be swallowed up! In a single crimson flash...
It used to be a time of darkness, where a man would live in constant fear
Yet we have found a special way, to protect the lives that we hold dear
My friends I must now present to you the warriors of the Chosen Eight
A group of our honoured champions, who will slay the beasts we hate!
Now they ride for the Volcanic Wastes where the Dragon call has sounded!
Before the beast can stand its ground they will have it fully surrou

Believing In Soulmates
You are not an illusion
Nor are you a mere reflection
Though I can't explain what I'm feeling
I just know that you make me want to start believing
Dreaming inside of a fairytale
The reason to smile
Fantasizing within a dream
The reason to believe
Maybe those so-called miracles are truly real
And maybe love stories really have their sequels
Though it's near impossible to try and get rid of this doubt
But I know that I will eventually succeed, because you're here now
Just when I thought I was lost, you came around, then I realized I was found
You have to be the other side
The missing piece that fits just right
So let this love intertwine, as our eyes unite
Because our hearts have been in halves through out our lives
The calm after a loud silence
A long awaited balance
The lone star that glows in the darkness
A bright light to shine for the ages
The one and only warm fire on a world of ice
A longing peaceful paradise
I want you to know that

Cold and smooth is the surface of glass, but it doesn't have a color,
and it hides the naked truth unlike any other
You look so innocent in the truth, but it really, truly lies,
'cause the person that it sees right now hardly can comply
The glowing glass holds the image of you, but all it sees is perfection
you like to tease it is the truth, though it is only your reflection
Blinded by beauty is the mirror to only notice features
it compares you to the rest, lower than a creature
It can't see your pain inside, or understand your feelings
and you know as you move on, it's yourself you're slowly killing
You let out a cry of pain as you pound your fist into the glass
then you fall onto your knees and hope those feelings swiftly pass
The mirror breaks and is left confused as it lays there shattered
blood drips down your raw hand and your breathing slowly patterns
Now the mirror is just like you, it's broken and a mess
and you can't repair the pieces which are lower than they are les

Here to feel your warmth, here to give that soft comforting touch that only you can calm me with.
To hear your gentle heart beat from under your soft skin, I couldn't think of anything more soothing.
I want to get captured by your bright loving eyes and get lost in the thought of this moment lasting forever.
As I crave you to be so close, I lay here alone.
On a bed that feels too big, under sheets that seem so cold, heated by nothing more than a shell of a lovesick boy wanting to reconnect all the pieces of our devided hearts.
I wonder if you think of me too.
If you miss me.
If you want me there with you.
Past the tall wicked trees and dark sidewalks,
through the veins of busy roads and under the dull amber street lights.
You're laying in bed sleeping soundly, peacefuly.
I think of you.
I Miss you.
I Want you here.
Though I'll be with you soon.
My eyes are getting heavy and my body is loosening.

In her whole three years of services has she never seen the small, powerful figure of Ciel Phantomhive in a hurry so strong that he didn't even bother with changing to prepare to leave.
This morning had happened in such a confusion, first when she came in to awaken him Mey-Rin found the young earl in the hallways of all places dragging a suitcase into his room. He had promptly slammed it atop his bed, wrenched open his wardrobe and began a frantic stuffing of clothes.
He hadn't even bothered to change out of his nightclothes, a large white shirt that was worn by his father, Vincent Phantomhive. Somehow Mey-Rin was able to convince him to wear a pair of pants, which he tore from his closet wrenching them around his waist then continued his work.
"Young master," Mey-Rin calls as Ciel sits atop his luggage bouncing up and down a few times befo

Don't fall to others
Stand on your own
You're torn to pieces
Are always telling me

A Light In The Fog
The long nights were dark and the short days seemed darker
The sun tries to rise but even the moon's glow is brighter
I'm just searching for something to give me a sense of hope
Even though I'm another typical fool who should just learn to let go
Eyes grow dim as time goes on
It's a sin to be this strong
I'm going through life and only seeing blurry faces
It's too harsh when all forms of trust are blind
I've walked this world and noticed nothing really changes
Every step seems futile and every dream is a sleeping lie
All souls cannot be shrouded
All hope cannot be abandoned
I needed a reason / To keep me breathing
So please pay heed to the pleas / I don't want the dim lights to leave
And then I caught a glance of you and instantly knew
That I gave up too easily, thinking you wouldn'
Story Time Once upon a time, there was a girl who wore her heart on her sleeve.Story Time5 years ago in Short Stories More Like This
The girl had friends whom she loved, and so she gave away little pieces of her heart to each of them. But some of her friends set their pieces on fire, and the girl cried for the pieces of her heart. Some friends put the flame out, and so the girl was happy, and gave the friends more of her heart even though they had set their pieces on fire. And though her heart was now smaller, she thought it was worth it.
The girl had a family whom she loved, and so she let her family hold her heart. But her family saw that the edges of her heart were frayed. They picked at the bits of heart thread, trying to make it smooth, but the edges of the heart only got more frayed. The girl cried because her heart could not be perfect for her family, and so she took her heart back. But her family told her they liked her heart, frays and all. And though

A demon inside taking control of her body,
Banishing her out,
Making her feel as if she is a spectator in her own body
She is devoid of all content emotions:
Happiness, joy, excitement.
Yet the ruthless emotions stay,
As if feeding the creature within each passing day:
Heartbreak, pain, anger, fear
Walking in a vast expanse of darkness,
All she can do is search,
Day and night,
For that small light full of hope,
Full of meaning,
That will lead her to her old self,
The person she used to be.
I was able to imagine,
To live in my own little world of imagination.
I could actually smile
Without putting on an act for others.
I felt as if there was a meaning to life,
But now there's nothing important enough in my life to live for.

"What?" He asked, smirking. He was starting to take off his shirt, Seras very opposed to this idea. "Isn't this how you do it?"
"You have to leave some clothes on!" She snapped, trying to control her blush. She knew this wasn't a good idea, but Alucard had insisted that they had to do it.
Therefore, Seras had no choice.
They were going to do their laundry.

Who, that in warm humanity were grown
Became through Man's success a mother brain,
And, motherlike, did gather of her own.

Though seeded, seeding self, evolving free,
Unbounded maiden saviour, formed benign,
A fertile shore on lost Man's barren sea.
Oh, mine the vision, mine the fatal flaw!
Still mine the darling kernel in the maw,
Thy children gathered, gathering now slain,
What nutriment I gave, I now withdraw.
In with'ring grief these last designs I frame,
Yea, mine the spark, yea mine the cleansing flame.
