As mentioned recently, we’re making a bunch of changes to the new Stash...
If you're new to Stash, find out more about it here: http://devbug.deviantart.com/journal/Stash-215498179
The latest changes: Sta.sh is now a separate section of the deviantART Network - with its own header, and its own look.
Here's a sneak peek!
"Stash" no longer exists on your Submit menu, but instead can be gotten to one of two ways:
You can pick "Sta.sh" from your main profile menu.. next to Logout and Settings
Or, you can type http://sta.sh into your address bar
Note: to switch back to deviantART, pick the "deviantART" item from the Sta.sh main menu.
Switching over and back:
Other than that, the Stash functionality remains much the same - Drag and drop your
So, I kinda got a death-threat today...THIS IS A WARNING TO ANY AND ALL FEMALE MEMBERS OF THE COSPLAY COMMUNITY IN AND AROUND CHICAGO!!!So, I kinda got a death-threat today...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Okay So Today….
Today I got a random message from a man on Facebook. And I'm scared, guys. I really am. I've blocked him on both Facebook and Deviant Art. But I'm still quite shaken, and feel on the verge of a panic attack. I am posting this as a warning to all to avoid this man pictured above. Please. I really do not feel that he is safe. He is, among other things, rude, spiteful, judgmental, and way beyond a normal modern-day level of sexist. (As I later found out. There are other warnings out there about this guy if you know where to look, but none posted publicly, which is another reason for this.)
Luckily for me, I do not live close to where he does (Chicago) But as I do go to some Chicago cons, and he is a Con-goer and cosplayer, I do feel I would not be safe should I find myself walking around alone again at one of these cons after this experience I

Logo & Symbol Process TruismsIf you follow me and my work, you are likely well aware that I enjoy logo and symbol design. I don't consider myself the lord of logo design, as there are far more designers out there whom I idolize and have the process nailed down to a science, but quite frankly I think I've become pretty good at it over the years. So with a bit of time and experience under my belt, I wanted to share some truisms I've learned that I find in every one of my design projects.Logo & Symbol Process Truisms3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Almost without fail, the first idea you fall in love with will be one of your worst ideas. When you find you've fallen in love with a concept, let other people see it, and then take a break. Come back to the work a few days later and see what new directions you can head in.
Don't fall in love with your ideas. I say it but it's inevitable. You actually will always fall in love with an idea. But hey, TRY not to.
Simple symbols designed in 1 color work best. If you're designing in color when you start, you're making end-of-the-project

Lance Armstrong = EPIC WINI'm frankly tired of all the little bitches in the media yapping away in their over the top outrage about Lance Armstrong's asshole behavior. It's so fashionable to hate Lance these days. Really, is this guy really supposed to be THE one we all should hate? Everyone on TV is telling you so. Well, do you?Lance Armstrong = EPIC WIN2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I just realized that I don't hate him nearly as much as all these wishy washy assholes pretending like they wouldn't do it if they had the chance. The deal? Train as hard as you can. Dope and lie about it. Win the shit. Get $100M of personal fortune, and raise a few hundred millions for charity.
Everyone condemning Lance for lying has lied numerous times, probably even that same day. The difference? He had the the balls the size of Jupiter and Saturn to take it it to its logical conclusion, and the perseverance and tenacity to win seven Tour de Frances. He's an asshole, no doubt. However, the other thousands of cyclists who doped came nowhere near accomplishing that type of feat. Keep

GODZILLA (2014) review - The Showa Must Go OnGODZILLA (2014) has hit theaters, and for months (years for most Godzilla fans), potential audiences have been anticipating a return to form for the Lizard King - a film that will revisit the themes of the 1954 original and deliver a brooding, apocalyptic story of destruction and doom.GODZILLA (2014) review - The Showa Must Go On8 months ago in Personal More Like This
Instead, what we got could best be described as a sequel to THE TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (1975).
Trust me, I wouldn't begin a review with a hyperbolic, attention-grabbing statement like that without explaining it. For the moment, let us turn back the clock and toss out a quick recap of the film's plot. Obviously, this review will contain a metric crapload of SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS, but you'll complain anyway, so let's get on with this.
After a mysterious event in 1954 regarding the Castle Bravo nuclear test and an unknown giant organism, the story jumps to 1999, where two scientists, Dr. Serizawa (Ken Watanabe) and Dr. Graham (Sally Hawkins) are investigating a massive underground tomb in the

Tattooing has existed since the very beginnings of Neolithic human expression and has since those ancient beginnings continued to be a reliable flash indicator of personality type. There are those people who get tattoos and there those people who simply do not. Even though the social opprobrium for getting inked has greatly disappeared in recent years, and even though skin art has become almost boringly de rigueur amongst rock guitarists and other entertainers, there is still one element that separates the tattooed from the non-tattooed in terms of artistic appreciation: commitment.
Tattoos may be the first “interactive” art form. The art lover doesn’t just buy an artist’s artwork – he or she becomes one with artwork, he or she commits to becoming a living canvas for the artwork, he or she, by choosing the tattoo to be borne forever, shares authorship with the tattoo artist of the artwork. Body Art History 3/3: Modern DayNear the turn of the century, lipstick is given its modern wax and oil based formula. In the early 1900s, around the birth of the silent film era, lipstick gets its signature twist-up tube.Body Art History 3/3: Modern Day3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
The American film industry gave rise to makeup as we know it today. The needs of art directors would herald the inventions of lip gloss, mascara, fake lashes and much more.
As some say, "Life imitates Art."
A booming film industry influenced the world and the cosmetics industry. Women found it acceptable to accentuate their features on a daily basis.
In Japan, Tattoos were used as punishment for criminals as early as 600AD. Around the Edo Period (17th-19th Century), tattoos regain a decorative light with the rise in popularity of block printing. In the 20th Century, however, tattooing is outlawed and public display is banned in an effort to "Protect the image of Japan."
Meanwhile, in early 20th Century America, Tattoos and Body Pi

Tolkien was, undeniably, a genius, but, for the love of creativity and dynamism; read another f**king book, people.
There's a world of culture, history and myth out there to seek inspiration from! Fantasy should be an exciting, twisted reflection of the world around us, not an endless stream of pirated Lord of the Rings DVDs.

The Gallery Clean-up Project will focus on literally cleaning up the category tree in several ways. This first part of this project, is all behind the scenes. Over the years there have been categories that have been "removed", merged, or changed and there are back-end changes that need to be done to fully remove them from the tree. This part will not affect you, and if everything goes properly, you won't even notice it
The second part of this will be ensuring that the categories are all accepting the correct file-types. If there is a file-type that isn't being allowed in a particular category or
deviantART's response regarding Art4Love.comIt recently came to our attention that a website called Art4Love.com was offering prints for sale, some based off of deviations also found on deviantART.com (and perhaps other works by artists not on deviantART). Art4Love.com is currently offline, but was up long enough to make some artists very understandably upset, as neither the artists (we are told) nor deviantART ever gave permission for Art4Love.com to sell these prints.deviantART's response regarding Art4Love.com3 years ago in Personal More Like This
We've been tracking the exchanges of comments and journals about all possible infringing activity and are ready to provide information from our side that would help legal action that any of the affected artists decide to bring. We will also fully cooperate with any government agency that may become involved because of consumer complaints against this apparently infringing website and the people running it. We would also happily cooperate with any possible fraud investigations.
