What YOU Can DoWhat is something that anti-choicers are notorious for? Something that can help our cause as well, if utilized correctly? Posters and Pamphlets of course! I'm sure each and every one of us is all too aware of anti-choicers abuse of this method - plastering manipulative, inaccurate, and out right terrifying images paired with ridiculous and offensive slogans all over for the public eye to see. What YOU Can Do1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Well, we don't want to do that. Let's not scare the children and the elderly, here - but they do have the right idea. Do you think all of these abominable laws would get passed if they sat there in their homes and whispered "I don't like this" to one another? Just think about it, spreading the word (even if 'the word' happens to be a poorly photoshopped lie) works. Look at the KONY 2012 scam, for example, it became huge - because you couldn't bat an eye without a poster showing up.
So I say it's time we get with the times and get out there. We've got to be loud, we've got to be heard, we've

Inflammatory anti-choice propaganda? Lies about sexuality? We need to keep in mind what goes on in many Christian schools when we discuss vouchers.
School vouchers have long been a pet cause of Christian school advocates who want to shore up profits and increase their ranks. In 2002, the United States Supreme Court ruled that public funds designated for private school tuition were not an infringement on church/state separation. That gave private Christian school advocates a green light to promote vouchers for themselves.

A woman traveling home from an abortion rights seminar was detained and forced off an American Airlines flight Tuesday because the captain and crew found her T-shirt “offensive,” according to the blog Reproductive Health Reality Check. The woman, who asked not to be named, was wearing a T-shirt with a slogan made famous by Oklahoma state senator Judy McIntyre (D), who marched earlier th

Having grown up Baptist in Alabama, I've always been cynical about conservative Christians' fervent opposition to Roe v. Wade. I don't doubt that religious devotion can lead to skepticism -- even fierce criticism -- of abortion rights. But those same religious principles should lead to efforts to boost the prospects for children, especially poor children, once they are born.
Apparently, the religious fervor that opposes abortion subsides considerably after children come squirming from the womb; it fails to wonder whether they have a chance at a decent life. That helps explain why the class divide in the United States is stark -- and only growing more so.
Over the last several months, the rabid anti-choice faction has posted several victories, passing laws that erode a woman's right to manage her reproductive life. Last week, Geo

In the you-can’t-make-up-this-stuff department, here’s what the Republican Party of Texas wrote into its 2012 platform as part of the section on education:
Knowledge-Based Education – We oppose the teaching of Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) (values clarification), critical thinking skills and similar programs that are simply a relabeling of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) (mastery learning) which focus on behavior modification and have the purpose of challenging the student’s fixed beliefs and undermining parental authority.
Yes, you read that right. The party opposes the teaching of “higher order thinking skills” because it believes the purpose is to challenge a student’s “fixed beliefs” and undermine “parental authority.”
It opposes, among other things, early childhood education, sex e

The Dallas–Fort Worth Coalition of Reason is about to embark on a new advertising campaign called “Our Families Are Great Without Religion” that will highlight how “family” is not synonymous with “Christian”. http://www.dfwcor.org/press-releases/
Here are the images that will be cycling through on the billboard along I-30 in Grand Prairie (Tom Landry Freeway) beginning Easter weekend — each image will be up for one week:
