Classic Who for "New Series only" fansI got this question from my buddy Robert on Facebook yesterday:Classic Who for "New Series only" fans1 year ago in Personal More Like This
"Any suggestions for a guy who is a diehard fan of the new series but feels overwhelmed by the idea of going back to a show of 20 plus years of episodes? I'm afraid I'll either not like them because my basis of comparison is a show made during a time when TV production values are the highest they've ever been, or, I'll love them and lock myself in a room until I've absorbed the show(what still exists) like I did with the new series (that was only 3 seasons in at the time)."
It echoed comments I've gotten from people here. So here's my answer to him, slightly edited and expanded:
Short answer: THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS; GENESIS OF THE DALEKS; THE SEEDS OF DOOM; THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG; CITY OF DEATH; EARTHSHOCK; THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI; REVELATION OF THE DALEKS; INFERNO (in that order) If ya wanna just dip your toe in the water, try those nine. I REALLY recommend starting with something like THE BRAIN OF M

Animation whether it be 2D or 3D is an important in the Game Development industry and there are many jobs, artists, enthusiasts out there who would agree with just that. 3D Animation directly correlates with 3D Modeling, while 2D Animation directly correlates with concept/2D art.
For this month's feature here at :icongame-art: we are featuring artists who are a part of our group who primary specialize (or secondary) in a skill that relates to 2D/3D Animation. This will be a positive feature, listing off some of the pro's of 2D/3D Animation, some industry jobs you can get with the talent, and showing off some bad ass work from our awesome members.

Life updatesHello, long time no see! How're you guys doing? As for me, the beginning of my first year in Lahti UAS has been somewhat busy, or at least it has felt like it with all the other things I've had to do after moving to my own apartment (speaking of which, it's so awesome to live here and even my small apartment is located in such a beautiful neighborhood!). Or, well, the biggest challenge so far has been getting a working Internet access (I'm not going to write all the details here now because that wouldn't be so interesting but that was a hell of a struggle...) but everything's working correctly now (even mmo's, I think that's enough of a proof haha!). Now I'm just trying to catch up with things on deviantART - won't be easy, but atm it seems like I'll soon have time to share some drawings with you! ...Not traditional after all, tho, since my scanner died. Uhhh I wasn't planning to spend my money for a new one anytime soon... ;;Life updates6 months ago in Personal More Like This

Death of an empireOn the edge of the universe..Death of an empire2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I watch the life of the oldest sun die...
A black hole engulfing her slowly...
I feel for her....to die alone.....
I wish I could ease her strain....
Shooting stars fly past in groups of two...
Like guardians of the black sea...
They tell their queen her final goodbyes...
Her children surrounding her begin to shake....
Their empire slowly changes....
Its dead silent...yet there cries are all I can hear....
A tear runs down my cheek and turns to ice...
The final flashes of light slowly start to dim..
And rogue planets are all that remain....
Orphans with no mother...doomed to travel the same path until they to perish...
White Roses for an Eternal BondThere is a song, White Rose of Athens, sung by Nana Mouskouri, and with its haunting lyrics, it was one of my mother's favorites. "So goodbye my love till then Till the white rose blooms again" I had been living in Athens Greece for six years, and it was from there that I sent my mother the first gift of white roses as a "Mother's Day" gift. But I sent it on my birthday. In my early twenties, I came to the realization that my birthday was not only about me being born on that day. The special day was also about my mother, who had given me the most wonderful gift of all... life! How can it be that Mother's Day and Birthdays have been so unnaturally "separated?"White Roses for an Eternal Bond2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This

A Wonderous RevelationI was just studying for my Physics test tomorrow, when I discovered something amazing. We were working with Newton's Third Law of Motion (Action and Reaction Forces), and our book gave an analogy of 'you cannot touch without being touched.' This gave me a wonderous sensation. It's really quite beautiful.A Wonderous Revelation1 year ago in Personal More Like This
You cannot touch someone without being touched. This is true physically - if you touch someone, they are also touching you. This is rather obvious (not my eureka idea). However, this principle is also true... I don't know, emotionally? If you touch someone in a special way, you are inexplicably changed, touched, if you will. This explains why you feel so good after doing something kind for someone - the very act of kindness affects you just as much as it affects the other person. This is why you can hardly help but smile when someone smiles at you, unless you are already in a foul mood, in which case, your mood is still heightened a

Goodbye Street GalleryIn few days, a whole year will have passed since the day I took over dA's Street Gallery as Street Community Volunteer.Goodbye Street Gallery1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
A neglected gallery, full of misplaced images, but also with many worthy submissions.
I visited this galllery everyday, cleaning it (the 24h and 1month popular pages) and informing the photographers of the misplaced images (every single one of them), what Street is all about.
At the same time, 3 days per week, I featured a worthy image as a Street Daily Deviation, taking in account your suggestions as well. The featured images were not necessarily the "best" of the featured deviants. My intention was not to feature "bests" but to draw the community's attention, to active Street photographers, both experienced and new to the genre, in order to boost their dedication to Street. I am content because a lot of times I succeeded.
During this year, a lot of people helped me with their suggestions and with working in Groups, promoting the genre and de
All the Literature Educate!Over the past few years, projecteducate has worked hard to provide educational articles for various art forms. Within literature, we've seen our fair share and over the past 2 years we've used our own group CRLiterature to manage these articles to ensure as much of the community can see them. However, sometimes we miss people and that's a shame because the articles we've written as a community have been pretty spectacular and still valid today. All the Literature Educate!1 month ago in Literature Features More Like This
So to help people pick up the articles they may have missed, here is a list of them all! This is a great chance for you to read what you may have missed, or tag your friends who may find them useful!

Help needed with motion sources! So, even though it was not the most popular choice, I decided to make CitruSoda into a motion downloads blog. The last couple of weeks (or more?) I've been working with trying to find the motion sources for all motions I've uploaded on CitruSmoothie. Aaand it's been a lot of work (as most motions originate from NND, and I don't know the original japanese titles for most of the songs... so I have been forced to search through youtube... but nevermind that).Help needed with motion sources!1 month ago in Personal More Like This
There were however some motion sources I couldn't find, and was hoping I could get some help with those...

10 tips for visual artistsI was thinking to myself tonight, "what have I learned so far?" Whenever I start to get down in the dumps about my work/career my husband always says "what would you say to your students if they said the same thing to you?" So in today's post, I try to address a few core things I've learned so far at this point in my career. I'm writing this for my readers, but also for myself as reminders of what's really important as an artist so I myself can stay focused. It's by no means a comprehensive list, I'm sure that I could write a novel about this, but it's what I'm thinking about tonight.10 tips for visual artists1 year ago in Personal More Like This
What do you think? What would you add to this list?
1) Don't burn any bridges.
The person who stood next to you in line at the cafeteria the other day could be in a position to positively impact your career some day, and vice versa. (when I say "cafeteria", this refers to art school/college) It sounds ludicrous, but in my experience it could not be more true.
