Classic Who for "New Series only" fansI got this question from my buddy Robert on Facebook yesterday:Classic Who for "New Series only" fans2 years ago in Personal More Like This
"Any suggestions for a guy who is a diehard fan of the new series but feels overwhelmed by the idea of going back to a show of 20 plus years of episodes? I'm afraid I'll either not like them because my basis of comparison is a show made during a time when TV production values are the highest they've ever been, or, I'll love them and lock myself in a room until I've absorbed the show(what still exists) like I did with the new series (that was only 3 seasons in at the time)."
It echoed comments I've gotten from people here. So here's my answer to him, slightly edited and expanded:
Short answer: THE BRAIN OF MORBIUS; GENESIS OF THE DALEKS; THE SEEDS OF DOOM; THE TALONS OF WENG-CHIANG; CITY OF DEATH; EARTHSHOCK; THE CAVES OF ANDROZANI; REVELATION OF THE DALEKS; INFERNO (in that order) If ya wanna just dip your toe in the water, try those nine. I REALLY recommend starting with something like THE BRAIN OF M

Spongebob Animated AtrocitiesSo I went through all of the Spongebob episodes, and marked the ones that I know are bad as animated atrocities. Do you know how many I found? No seriously, guess. 84. And then I went through it again and counted 89. Let me say that these are the ones that I've seen (I'm unfamiliar with most of season 8 and 9). You don't believe me? You seriously don't believe me? Here's a list of all of the animated atrocities that I've counted and a brief reason to why they're an atrocity. I can't believe I'm saying this, but please tell me if there's any that I missed:Spongebob Animated Atrocities1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Thoughts on the Breadwinners Pilot and NickelodeonSo I decided to watch the YouTube short that Nickelodeon decided to pick up and turn into a cartoon, and I’m going to be blunt—this looks to be one of the worst cartoons that I’ve ever seen in my life [competition: Allen Gregory; Ctrl+Alt+Del]. I’d hate to make this comparison, but it feels like Madballs Gross Jokes was just picked up for a show. It’s definitely trying to attract it’s target audience of 6-11 year old boys in the exact same way; with pandering bullshit.Thoughts on the Breadwinners Pilot and Nickelodeon10 months ago in Personal More Like This
"But it’s just a YouTube short" well, Dusk’s Dawn was better written and better animated. I’m dead fucking serious. Dusk’s Dawn wasn’t trying to shoehorn gross out into every single minute. I’m obviously not in the target demographic, but it’s people who grow up on shit like this that end up going to see things like Epic Movie in earnest. Every joke it tells is either gross out, a pop culture refer
Life updatesHello, long time no see! How're you guys doing? As for me, the beginning of my first year in Lahti UAS has been somewhat busy, or at least it has felt like it with all the other things I've had to do after moving to my own apartment (speaking of which, it's so awesome to live here and even my small apartment is located in such a beautiful neighborhood!). Or, well, the biggest challenge so far has been getting a working Internet access (I'm not going to write all the details here now because that wouldn't be so interesting but that was a hell of a struggle...) but everything's working correctly now (even mmo's, I think that's enough of a proof haha!). Now I'm just trying to catch up with things on deviantART - won't be easy, but atm it seems like I'll soon have time to share some drawings with you! ...Not traditional after all, tho, since my scanner died. Uhhh I wasn't planning to spend my money for a new one anytime soon... ;;Life updates1 year ago in Personal More Like This

My Top 10 Worst ClichesSince I'm reviewing episodes again, and the latest episode seemed to have a mixed reaction, I thought I'd tell you my top 10 worst cliches from cartoons, movies, whatever. This isn't going to be in any particular order (as you already know my biggest pet peeves), but these are just what kill a story for me. It can be done well, but it's usually not done well, nor are they often even necessary. A lot of the problem is not only how bad I find them, but how prevalent they are. Most of the cliches, I've seen everywhere. They're predictable, they're annoying, and if they're in an upcoming episode, you could probably expect me to fail it.My Top 10 Worst Cliches1 year ago in Personal More Like This
10: Mopey Dopey Love Talk
I do not care about romance stories in the slightest, but I can find interest in them if they're done naturally and believably. I understand that people get "the butterflies" when they've got a crush on someone, but whenever this trope comes out the story stops dead in its tracks. The dialogue is obviously unimportant and it
Why I Hate ''Putting Your Hoof Down''Hey, I'm revisiting this episode. Why? Well, I guess there's no point in hiding it, I watched Digi's video. He doesn't know where the haters are coming from. And rewatching my review on it, I thought that I'd add a few insights with clarity. Now do I still think that my review is good? Um... I think that it was too abrasive. It's not that I don't hate the episode as much as I let on, because I do. But, I've gotten new insights into the writing process behind the episode. And keep in mind that I found out the writing process not only after I made my review, but after I'd made my screw-ups video. Around the time that Charlotte Fullerton was writing this episode, her husband died. And so she passed it on Merriweather Willaims. So, it's understandable that this episode is disjointed and mean. It would actually be harder to understand if it was good, but it's not a good episode. That being said, I still hate this episode. And there are only three episodes of FiM that I legitimately hate. Why I Hate ''Putting Your Hoof Down''9 months ago in Personal More Like This

White Roses for an Eternal BondThere is a song, White Rose of Athens, sung by Nana Mouskouri, and with its haunting lyrics, it was one of my mother's favorites. "So goodbye my love till then Till the white rose blooms again" I had been living in Athens Greece for six years, and it was from there that I sent my mother the first gift of white roses as a "Mother's Day" gift. But I sent it on my birthday. In my early twenties, I came to the realization that my birthday was not only about me being born on that day. The special day was also about my mother, who had given me the most wonderful gift of all... life! How can it be that Mother's Day and Birthdays have been so unnaturally "separated?"White Roses for an Eternal Bond3 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This

A Wonderous RevelationI was just studying for my Physics test tomorrow, when I discovered something amazing. We were working with Newton's Third Law of Motion (Action and Reaction Forces), and our book gave an analogy of 'you cannot touch without being touched.' This gave me a wonderous sensation. It's really quite beautiful.A Wonderous Revelation2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You cannot touch someone without being touched. This is true physically - if you touch someone, they are also touching you. This is rather obvious (not my eureka idea). However, this principle is also true... I don't know, emotionally? If you touch someone in a special way, you are inexplicably changed, touched, if you will. This explains why you feel so good after doing something kind for someone - the very act of kindness affects you just as much as it affects the other person. This is why you can hardly help but smile when someone smiles at you, unless you are already in a foul mood, in which case, your mood is still heightened a

I watch the life of the oldest sun die...
A black hole engulfing her slowly...
I feel for her....to die alone.....
I wish I could ease her strain....
Shooting stars fly past in groups of two...
Like guardians of the black sea...
They tell their queen her final goodbyes...
Her children surrounding her begin to shake....
Their empire slowly changes....
Its dead silent...yet there cries are all I can hear....
A tear runs down my cheek and turns to ice...
The final flashes of light slowly start to dim..
And rogue planets are all that remain....
Orphans with no mother...doomed to travel the same path until they to perish...
Goodbye Street GalleryIn few days, a whole year will have passed since the day I took over dA's Street Gallery as Street Community Volunteer.Goodbye Street Gallery2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
A neglected gallery, full of misplaced images, but also with many worthy submissions.
I visited this galllery everyday, cleaning it (the 24h and 1month popular pages) and informing the photographers of the misplaced images (every single one of them), what Street is all about.
At the same time, 3 days per week, I featured a worthy image as a Street Daily Deviation, taking in account your suggestions as well. The featured images were not necessarily the "best" of the featured deviants. My intention was not to feature "bests" but to draw the community's attention, to active Street photographers, both experienced and new to the genre, in order to boost their dedication to Street. I am content because a lot of times I succeeded.
During this year, a lot of people helped me with their suggestions and with working in Groups, promoting the genre and de
Top 11 Worst Episodes I've Reviewed (2013)So, I've been reviewing a bunch of cartoon episodes for nearly a year now and let me tell you that I've seen some of the worst in history. I've decided to compile a list of the absolute worst that I've reviewed each year. Now, I know what you're thinking - with my notebook page, isn't this a bit redundant? Well, here things can go past a 10/10 in a category. Sometimes I find things worse than I let on, so you have no idea what's going on the list. What should be more surprising is what's not on the list. I find these eleven episodes worse than anything that I didn't put on the list (that I reviewed in 2013). I've only got one rule: I can only put something on the list if it's a pure 22-minutes-or-less episode. So, you won't see Tentacolino, Hunchback II, or A Very Minty Christmas. Yes, I can put all of the Spongebob episodes on here (I'm not, but I could).Top 11 Worst Episodes I've Reviewed (2013)1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Criticism CommandmentsA lot of people have been asking me for advice criticizing something, and so I thought I'd help by listing some "commandments" that are the main philosophy behind my reviewing and my reviewing philosophy.Criticism Commandments9 months ago in Personal More Like This
The pleasure of enjoying something far surpasses the pleasure of critiquing it.Do not criticize what you cannot understand.Save by criticism rather than doom by praise. It is much more valuable to look for strengths in failures rather than failures in strengths.Critique for creation and not for destruction. The past is gone and the future is yet to be created.Keep your opinion blunt; your words sharp. The trope is "accentuate the negative;" not "exaggerate the negative."Bad people can make good art, and good people can make bad art.Keep other opinions in mind, but keep them detached from your own.Anyone can criticize, not everyone can create.
Follow these and you should be fine. I follow them, ad

Top 11 Worst Family Guy Episodes*That I've seenTop 11 Worst Family Guy Episodes8 months ago in Personal More Like This
So with the ratings trap of Life of Brian I've decided to not only stop reviewing Family Guy episodes, but just being done with Seth MacFarlane's projects altogether. If I didn't know any better, I'd say that he wanted me to keep pelting his show. Because... he made a worse episode. Or someone did, I don't care. So, I'll get back to reviewing Family Guy's atrocities because... my god. I can't just let another SpongeBob run loose. Actually, modern Family Guy is worse than modern SpongeBob. So, here are my top 11 worst Family Guy episodes.
Number 11: Road to the Multiverse
I understand that a lot of people like this episode, and to be fair, it doesn't have a really good concept. It has a fucking amazing concept. What's the problem? No. Research. Done. First alternate universe is extremely advanced because Christianity never happened, despite much of science surviving thanks to Christian monks. And that the Catholic church has always been supporti
Whatever Happened to SpongebobNo I'm not talking about that episode; I'm talking about the show. I'm genuinely curious as to what happened to the Nicktoon Spongebob Squarepants over the past ten years. It went from a charming and funny show to one of the most mean-spirited, disgusting, and perverse shows that currently exists. Rebeltaxi99, a popular cartoon reviewer always says that people are complaining that the new episodes aren't as good. That's not true. The episodes are HORRIBLE. They have ranged from annoying to vile to cruel. A drop in quality would mean that we've gone from shining stars to plain mediocrity. Instead we've gone from episodes about selling chocolate bars door-to-door to episodes featuring a grotesque infected splinter and episodes making fun of suicide. I need to know how this happened, how it was allowed to happen, and more importantly--could this happen again?Whatever Happened to Spongebob11 months ago in Personal More Like This

Writing the Script to the Breadwinners review...And I don't think that I've ever been this fucking angry in a long time. When is the last time I was legitimately angry while writing the review? Pet Sitter Pat, but this honestly blows that out of the water. Hell, it blows my Chicken Little rage out of the water. And do you know what the sticking point is? I've just made it to the third page of the review and I haven't even started talking about the episode in question, which has been changed to Love Loaf.Writing the Script to the Breadwinners review...9 months ago in Personal More Like This
