EDIT: Too hard? I added an easier level to the demo. Hope this will convince you to play the full (still free) version at either my site or the facebook page. Underneath is an explanation why.
Sorry, but you'll have to play the full version on the games
page at my site, howzerz DOT net
. Or on it's very own facebook app page, [link]
I'll explain why.
This version has all it's contents loaded onto a single file, so it's possible to download this and play it offline. However, the drawback is that if I expanded this into the full version, you would have to load every song before you can start playing.
The solution - Split each song up into a separate swf and embed these external files together in one central swf.
The problem - The _level0 path (which is what I use to share variables) doesn't seem to work when I link from one server to another (ie. deviantart to howzerz); It will only work when all the files are relative to each other (ie. all files in deviantart ftp or howzerz ftp). Since deviantart doesn't offer ftp, I have no choice but to keep all the files on my own ftp.
What is so important about shared variables? I use shared variables to tell flash to keep score, determine when one external swf is finished (ie. return to menu after gameplay has ended), unlock stuff, etc.
I spent more than 3 hours playing around with all sorts of functions, slightly changing some parts of my code, and anything else imaginable to try and make the shared variables work. You may have noticed it being unplayable for a few hours when I was trying to fix this.
