Site Update: Film, Sta.sh Writer, deviantART muroIn our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Below is a list of recent changes to the site, bug fixes, and feedback that was brought up by members in the last Site Update.Site Update: Film, Sta.sh Writer, deviantART muro2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Film Improvements (Beta Testers Only)
We've made two major changes to film on deviantART! First, film is now fully compatible with Sta.sh and the Sta.sh submission process, allowing you to store and post film deviations directly from your Sta.sh. Secondly, the film player has been overhauled, and the film deviation page has been updated and rebuilt to match the same layout other deviations have, for consistency, ease of use, and better overall appearance.

I am bringing your attention to a documentary, Beauty is Embarrassing, that
deeply inspired me after a screening last week. The life wisdom and positive
philosophy unfolding over a lifetime of living as an artist was deeply motivating.
I invited Wayne White, the subject of this documentary, to join deviantART afterwards.
I thought this would be something you would enjoy no matter where you might be at
on your own personal journey as an artist. While watching this I was also reminded
of the heartfelt explanations by many artists of what it means to choose the life of an Artist.
"Do what you love, It's going to lead where you want to go."
Please stop and say hello and welcome seewaynewhite in his first week at deviantART.

Art, Passion, and FanaticismArt, Passion, and FanaticismArt, Passion, and Fanaticism1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Art is an unlimited reality that includes many disciplines; each one of these disciplines suffer the same problem about their borders. I've heard many times "This is not art", "This is not music", "This is not acting", "This is not literature", etc. Probably they are right, problably not.
Our passion for what we do and love makes us put all of our senses, words, time and effort to enjoy and develope what we believe is something that is worth. We are called admirers, fans, devotees, etc. I'm and admirer of Velázquez and Sorolla, for example and they are always my reference. ( I'm still a shoe in comparison to them, btw )
But sometimes our love turns into a kind of pride that makes us blind about other ways or styles. I must confess it took time for me to understand other artistic expressions than figurative. My first Art books were about Rennaissance and anatomy studies, I was just 9 years old, but I remember my mom gave me a book about modern art just fe
Not So Traditional Tuesdays #2After a little debate with myself (I won! ), I've decide to change up the features that I generally put out every week. So, for a while at least, I plan on featuring Traditional and Non-Traditional work on alternating Tuesdays. This will keep it fresh for me and maybe open a few eyes to all the different kinds of artwork that is available while browsing the deviantArt galleries. The things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find! Not So Traditional Tuesdays #22 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Todd has this innate way to ask questions that make you open up to him. I am so grateful for the opportunity to just talk and be myself. Todd is trying to make a documentary series on Cosplay full of these types of interviews, so please consider backing the "Cosplay Boom" kickstarter to help make this happen!

The Photographers Guide : Taking Quality PhotosThe camera is just a tool, it's not magical. You don't even need a DSLR to be a photographer. Anyone can take a picture on any device, and it be considered art. It is how you do this that most effects your outcome. For example, take me. I don't own a dedicated camera - used my camera phone - the Nokia N8 - for each and every photograph i have clicked that is in my gallery. Sounds odd ? Well its the truth. See some of my deviations below :The Photographers Guide : Taking Quality Photos3 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Dose of Inspiration - Round #1Hey all you cool cucumbers out there Don't miss out on the head start to the brand new year!Dose of Inspiration - Round #12 years ago in Art Features More Like This
We, PhotographLove decided to love you guys a lot more this year and have been brainstorming loads of new ideas to improve our group. Now what is 'Dose of Inspiration' you might ask. Simply read on and all shall be revealed.
Inspiration is not just something you can find out of a convenience store three blocks away from where you live. But us as artists need it as much as we need a cup of instant coffee while we pull an all-nighter or batteries for our camera when we're out on a photoshoot. It's not something easy to come by and so that is what I'm here for.
Inspiration - derived from the Latin word Inspirare which simply translates to "To breathe into"
You could say I'm trying to sell you inspiration and ideas. Sell sounds like I'm working on a commercial, maybe exchange

To someoneSomething I want to get off my chest, hope it's not too sentimental. To someone2 years ago in Personal More Like This
He was an old man, in his eighties. I barely even knew him, he was an acquaintance of my parents. One way or another, he found out that I suffer from CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome, for those who don't know). He also knew that I loved to cycle, and how I couldn't do it very often because of the disorder. One day he phoned us, telling he had an electric bicycle he didn't use anymore. He wanted me to have it. My father asked what the price would be. 'We'll figure that out', he said. So we met him, and I made a little test drive. I loved it. When we talked to him, it became more and more clear that he didn't want to sell it, he wanted to give it to me. He even paid for the repairs. There were some tears in his eyes when he handed the bicycle to me.
Never have I fully realised how much this gift actually ment. Not just because an electric bicycle is very expensive, also because it gave me so many opportunities. Without it,
