Minding the Nest Chapter 33. Word Gets Around
"What the hell?" Speedy demanded, coming into the tower to discove he was suddenly the oldest one there.
He was greeted by several giggles.
"Hell! Hell!" baby Bumblbee proclaimed, sipping around the air giggling.
"Hell!" baby Aqualad shouted, floating in the tub.
"Demonios!" a baby Mas and Menos proclaimed, the word being translated into Spanish.
Speedy sweatdropped. "I am in WAY over my head here..."
Working hard, he managed to get everyone situated. He mixed up a kelp mix for Aqualad, and some formula for the other babies. He had a real hard time getting Bumblebee to drink her formula, and Mas and Menos kept dashing around the Tower like crazy. He even went so far as to disconnect the alarm so he wouldn't have any headaches he couldn't handle.
He'd finally gotten Aqualad, Mas, and Menos situated in seperate sleeping areas (the tub for Aqualad, and cribs seperated by a wall for the twins), and wa

Raven and Beast Boy slowly flew back to the Tower. Beast Boy glanced over at Raven as they rode her black energy disc. "Come on," he said beseechingly, "you gotta admit, that was actually fun, and nothing terrible happened."
Raven glanced at him and sighed. "Okay, I admit...it was fun. You surprised me, Gar. I never took you for a theater buff."
He shrugged. "There's a lot you don't know about me, Raven. But if you'll give me a chance, I'll be glad to show you." There wasn't anything suggestive in the way he said it. He was being sincere.
She sighed. "I'll sleep on it, okay?"
He nodded. "Okay!" He was happy with this. He had been expecting a flat no. He actually had a chance.
They landed at the enterance of the Tower. When they opened the door, and their communicators went off.

The Titans had returned to their various towers, although Jinx had returned with the main Titans to Jump City. She'd said there were things she had to work out.
Cyborg was in the garage, working on various projects. Jinx came in to talk to him. "Tin Man? You okay?"
The other Titans had asked him this. He'd told them he was okay, and they'd let it go. Somehow, he felt he owed Jinx more. "...no, I'm not okay."
"...wanna talk about it?"
He was silent for a long time. "...Jinx, how much do you know about my...makeup?"
"You mean you being half metal? Not much."
"When this...happened, I lost quite a bit. And I'm not just talking about the physical side. I don't hear anymore: I detect audio wavelengths, and translate them internally into understandable sound. I don't smell: I detect chemicals in the air and identify them. I don't taste: I

And sometimes, just sometimes...people know what they're doing, and they take the right chances...
Cyborg looked up as the door to the garage burst open in a flash of pink light. Jinx stood there, tears streaming down her face. "Jinx?"
"Sometimes, Cyborg," she began, her voice breaking, "you can be a real idiot. Yes, I know how much you lost when you became what you are, but that's not the end." She walked up to him. "Sometimes...you don't need to touch to feel."
"What...what do you mean?" he asked, confused.
"I mean...feel this," she said, grabbing him by his ears and pulling him into a kiss.
He stood frozen for a time, pink and blue light sparking in his circuitry. Then he wrapped his arms around her, deepening the kiss. While he couldn't feel touch...he could feel this...
...and it was SO worth it.

All were simply enjoying their new sense of family...and the feeling of completeness it brought them. Beast Boy glanced over at Raven.
"Not that I'm complaining...but how come I've got most of the weight?" Melvin giggled in response, and he made a funny face at her over his shoulder, eliciting more giggles.
"Cause you're the boy, Gar," Raven said with a smile, "and everyone knows that the boy gets all the heavy lifting in a new relationship. It's their responisbility." This last was said teasingly, poking fun at him.
He grinned. "And just what is the girl's responsibility in a new relationship?"
"Telling the boy what he's responsible for."
"That doesn't seem quite fair."

Speedy had managed to take care of the children at his tower a bit better, with Cheshire's help. However, this had led to a total abandonment of his hero work, his duties as a Titan. This was causing some problems. He didn't care, though. He had more important responsibilities just now.
Then the alert came in. Several meta-human villains were robbing a bank, and it had become a hostage situation. Speedy cursed. He had to do something, but...
"Go," Cheshire said to him as he watched the TV. "I'll watch the kids. You've got work to do, don't you?"
He smiled at her. "Thanks, Jade." He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "I owe you big." Grabbing his bow and arrows, he headed out.
Cheshire went and sat down by where the kids were. "He is far too trusting," she said to Bumblebee. "What if I were under orders

Things had been very quiet at Titans Tower since Raven and Beast Boy's departure, 4 months back. They'd fought a few bad guys, but most had gone very quiet. They'd managed to stay a team, mostly by Robin being incredibly apologetic over the situation. He had realized that he was doing the one thing he'd hoped would never happen: he was turning into Batman.
As such, whenever Cyborg wanted him to do something rather...embarrassing, all it took was one reminder about that blasted file, and he was doing it. When he saw that many of these things made Starfire laugh, and helped her feel more forgiving towards him, he wasn't nearly as hesitant to do so.
One day, three fancy envelopes arrived at the Tower. Cyborg brought them in. "Pretty fancy caligraphy. There's one addressed to each of us...but there's no postage."

Beast Boy and Raven lay in each other's arms, simply existing. They were each lost in their own thoughts. Beast Boy glanced at his love. "Penny for your thoughts?"
She chuckled. When he raised his eyebrow, she conjured an image of the penny he gave her once, and he laughed, too.
She looked at him. "Did you mean what you said to Robin? About what you'd do if he tried to hurt me?"
"Every word," he responded without hesitation.
Raven shuddered in pleasure. Beast Boy raised an eyebrow. She blushed. "Beast Boy...I'm a bit more demonic now than I used to be. Hearing that you would do such brutal violence for my sake was...exciting." She glanced at him, worried that this might upset him or freak him out.
He raised an eyebrow. "So that's why you started purring, among other things?"
She nodded. "That doesn't bother you?"

Beast Boy started out racing across the sand, but as he passed the empty expanse, he began to slow down. He glanced around at the sun, surf, sand, and general air of tropical paradise of the island. THe sand squelched between his bare toes as dividing impulses warred within him. On the one hand, he really wanted to just enjoy this ultimate vacation. But on the other hand, something inside was fidgety, edgy, like an animal in a cage.
Animal in a cage...that's what was going on. His human side was perfectly comfortable here, but the animal in him, his instincts, were restless. THere was something going on here, and it was more than just a paradise.
"This place is too good to be true," he muttered under his breath, kicking a rock.

"Is Raven in trouble?" Melvin gave Robin her cutest innocent expression.
"She might be. We just need to find her. We think she passed by this way. Have you seen her?"
Melvin shook her head. "I haven't seen her. Timmy, Teether and I were fast asleep till you got here." She gestured to where Timmy and Teether were still snoring away. "We haven't seen her. You sure she came this way?"

"Does...it have to be so tight?" she asked after a while. She was lucky she was part demon. It made it that much easier to breathe.
"It shouldn't have to be...but for some reason it always is," Bumblebee responded. She and the others were in their bridesmaids dresses already, save Starfire, who wore traditional Tameranean garb for her role as the maid of honor.
"Relax, Raven," Jinx said, smiling at her. "You'll do fine. Nothing will go wrong."

"Boyfriend Robin is wonderful...mostly. But I am concerned that it is unusual for the boy to spend more time primping then the girl does, yes?"
"You think that's bad?" Jinx waved her hand dismissively. "Have you seen the way CYborg goes over his car? Sometimes it seems like he loves that car more than me! It's irritating, I tell you, but what with his tech being sucha big part of him, I'd feel guilty making a fuss over it, so...yeah."

Raven sat in Nevermore, at a podium in the center of the realm, at the head of an ampitheater. Gathered before her were all her emotions. A very important issue was at hand, one that would affect the rest of her life. A choice that would determine her future. Even Rage was here, at her insistence.
Raven looked down at her gathered selves. "I call this meeting of my mind to order. Knowledge, if you would present the issue?"
Knowledge started to step forward, but Rage stepped ahead of her. "We all know what's at stake here. They can not be allowed to interfere with what is ours! THey know nothing!"
Raven stared at Rage. THis was the last she expected from her most volatile emotion. She was even more surprised to hear a rumble of agreement from the others.

The Titans had gathered, all of them, for the first time since the end of the Brotherhood. However, this time was different. No one outside the Titans knew it was happening, as the all showed up in civilian garb. While not everyone could make it, everyone who could did.
As the guys all stayed in the back yard - which included a garden AND a pool - the girls gathered around Raven to be showed around the house. Bumblebee, Jinx, Argent, and even Terra showed up to join Starfire in looking at the new house (Kole couldn't make it, but she sent her congratulations. Pantha was with the boys out back.) Terra had regained her memories and was back in the Titans, though she had until recently been trying to get back together with Beast Boy...without much luck. Raven pushed her magic to it's limits. This was a tough battle. Hard to believe, since they were fighting Doctor Light.
They were in the skies over China. They had attempted to use the T-Jet as a battle base, but that hadn't worked out too well. So now they were making do with what they had.
Starfire was doing well with the aerial battle. Her abilities were well suited for it. Beast Boy was doing as expected, showing surprising initiative when it came to aerial combat.
Cyborg and Robin were testing out some new tech he had developed: an Air Battle Board. It was supposed to track their movements in the air and stay under them, so they could battle in the air as easily as on the ground. This was the first live battle test, and so far things were going well. Still, Raven was keeping an eye out, just in case something went wrong and she had to rescue them.

Beast Boy still wasn't able to move too much, and his energy was really low. Raven was worried about him. Although he wasn't getting worse, he wasn't getting better either.
She could feel her magic returning slowly, and wonered if she might be able to do something with it to help him recover...or at least take better care of him.
She stared down at their meal. Both of them were now eating strict vegetarian, which confused Raven. Before, she couldn't stand tofu, and had always liked Cyborg's meat concoctions, although she didn't make a fuss about it. Starfire examined it carefully. "It doesn't appear to be dangerous..."
