SWAMP THING: The Orchestral ScoreGot a weird treats for you all,SWAMP THING: The Orchestral Score3 years ago in Personal More Like This
For years, whenever I've been intensively drawing a comic project I often felt the need the write myself some music. I've found out multiplying my creative output mysteriously benefit them all. There is, usually, no link bridging my Comic and musical world. Some fugues and some String Quartet sketches have been paired with Batman Incorporated for instance.
This time, being so enthusiast for swamp thing, I went and wrote the scored for issue 7 & 8. OK, not really, but I've tried to cover their thematic stuff in a 3:16 of Full Orchestral Music.
Here a breakdown of the cues:
00:00 The timeless mystery of the Green
00:49 Growth and fate of the Green Warrior
1:36 The Rot
2:00 A bit of actionny big battle for those who got bored until now.
May you enjoy this roughs mix.

DA COMMISSIONS: WTF?I wanted to share this post I've seen on Tumblr. As a professionnal artist, I already know that I underprice my commissions. When you are a freelance, a drawing is generally 500€ to 1000€ when you're a beginner. On DA, I generally sell them at 30/50€. What to think about the new commission system, knowing that I'm already leaving my commissions for a low price?DA COMMISSIONS: WTF?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
You can easily understand: why do you open commissions then?
Well,I love drawing for other people, and most of commissionners don't even know the real price of a drawing (now you know!). But when I open commissions, this is because I've got the time, because I love to share with commissionners, to know their universe, OCs...and because it helps me to buy new fabric for reenactments too, for sure. But... Well... Shame on you DA! O_o
How can you sell a service for only 0.2/0.4$, knowing that DA takes 20% too?! O_o
It may be a good news for commissionners, but DA, you're killing the artists by making people think that a drawing cos

Stop spending time with the wrong people.
Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they'll make room for you. You shouldn't have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth. And remember, it's not the people that stand by your side when you're at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you're at your worst that are your true friends.
Stop running from your problems.
Face them head on. No, it won't be easy. There is no person in the world capable of flawlessly handling every punch thrown at them. We aren't supposed to be able to instantly solve problems. That's not how we're made. In fact, we're made to get upset, sad, hurt, stumble and fall. Because that's the whole purpose of living – to face proble

It was revealed earlier this month that CNN had in place an “ultimate closing message” in the event of the apocalypse actually arriving (and there being enough time to change the tape). It was footage of a military band playing “Nearer My God to Thee”:
This.... would have been a really crap thing to permanently sign out on.
The BBC obviously thought so, too, as in light of that story they asked their readers/listeners what they would like to hear played across the service, should doomsday occur.
Most responses were musical numbers, such as REM’s “It’s the End of the World as we know it (and I feel fine)” and Queen’s “Don’t stop me now”, but other’s were a little more deranged, such as the final clip of a Warner Bros cartoon, with Porky Pig saying “That’s all folks!”.
One chap just wanted to hear

“I swear I’ll knock you out. Then we’ll see if you still think the same.”
My name is Jessica Stevens. It’s December 3rd, and it’s my 21st birthday. My four older brothers are here, and so is my dad. There’s a homemade cake in front of me, with about 21 candles on it. They didn’t have the ones shaped like numbers. Can you believe that?
I should probably tell you a bit about myself. I’m about 5’7’’ feet tall, I eat my vegetables and go jogging every morning at 5AM. Since everybody else is sleeping at that time, I try to be super silent when I sneak out. I also like some of the latest pop hits, but I’m not a huge music fan.
I’m also a feminist. Half of you reading this must’ve winced, eh? Well, truth is, I cant blame you. There are some crazy femi-nazis out there, taking things w

Early life becomes an exploration of invisible parameters, circles beyond circles, as one pushes out to test the boundaries of safety. There is one’s bedroom, one’s home, neighborhood, school and town, state and nation. Early on, maps become important documents – declarations of being and rights and privileges. In the art world, throughout history, maps have been a constant measure of human progress, from the Phoenecians recording their trade routes over 2000 years ago, or pre-Columbian times in which map
FAQHow did you get started?FAQ4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've always sculpted as a hobby and am completely self taught. In April of 2010 I decided I wanted to finally try my hand at selling my work. I started posting things on etsy and DA and veeery slowly people started noticing. My first couple of years relied heavily on commission work.
How are you so popular? I just started making sculptures too but nobody notices or buys them?
It took well over two years before I was actually getting fulltime work with decent pay. It took a TON of hard work. I sold my work for far less than I should have, because I needed customers. I also did a few shows, to get some exposure by handing out business cards. I made things as often as I could, posted often, and made sure it was very clear I was open for commissions. I posted links on everything. You have to make it easy for people to find the info they need! I posted mainly on etsy and DA, then made a fanpage on facebook very late in the game. Probably sh

The island of Berk once had a troublesome problem with looting airborne raiders, but thanks to Hiccup and his dragon/best friend, Toothless, a peaceful coexistence reigns in the Viking land. It wasn’t an easy undertaking to get to this point, but audiences all over have sure enjoyed the journey of these action packed films.

Then a relative of mine laughed at me. And I felt ashamed of myself.
Probably I should explain better this. When I was twelve years old (an age when you are still a child but not that much), I read a book called Feminism for teenagers. It was a short book about women. Simone de Beauvior, Charlotte Bronte, Jeanne D'Arch... wonderful, powerful, important women. And this book also told stories about battles and rights. Vote for women, female homosexuality, abortion, female circumcision, salary gap. Some of those topics were kind of taboo in my family or unkwon for my at that age. For example, that was the first tieme I learnt that there was a time when women were possesions and not people.
It was an easy book to read, written to be understood by girls of my age and it didn't profundise that much. But it was enough to make me feel proud of women as a collective and to make me desire joinning them in their battle. Be

I just wanted to say I think you're beautiful.
You mean so, so much to me and I think the world of you.
I am so glad you're alive.
I'm so glad you're here right now, reading this. I'm so glad that you are you, and not anyone else. I'm so glad you've made it this far, let it be eight years or eighty, more than that or less. I'm so happy you're here, right now, in this moment.
Maybe, things right now aren't so great for you. Or, maybe they are.
Either way, I love you. I love you so, so much. You mean the world to me, and I can't imagine things without you.
I love you so, so much.
I think you look amazing today.
Please don't listen to anyone who says you're anything less- they're wrong. You are beautiful, and you are worth so, so much.
I am so proud of you. I am so, so proud of you.

Lived Long and ProsperedThe great Leonard Nimoy has died, age 83.Lived Long and Prospered5 months ago in Personal More Like This
There’s not really much I can write about the chap or his impact on sci-fi culture that you’re not already aware of. We all knew and loved him as Spock from Star Trek. Hell, I named one of my webcomic’s characters after him.
Nimoy never forgot about his fans, either, and how it is they who ensured his lasting popularity. It’s telling that it was he who cameoed in the recent Trek films and not Shatner.
Being the awesome man he was, his final words to the public (by way of twitter) were “LLAP”.
“Live Long and Prosper”.
Lesson ZeroHow about that third episode of MLP: FIM. I thought the pink one was suppose to be the crazy one. I do feel for twilight I was once like that myself, but then my health brought me back to reality, and my fiancee help out a lot. I do have to say was was not expecting this episode to out as great as it did. I still cannot wait for the return of Luna in the next episode.Lesson Zero4 years ago in Personal More Like This

While searching DeviantArt for images for the Earth Day article, I became intrigued with how trees have become not only such a central focus of our current environmental concerns, but also how they play such a central role in our art, whether as background or actual subject matter. There are so many Enchanted Forests on DeviantArt that it made me wonder if trees, so mundane and taken for granted yet at the same time so vital to life on earth and so steeped in myth, have always been the revered subjects of the world’s artists.

I have NOTHING but good things to say about the folks I’ve had the pleasure of talking to, hanging out with and calling my friends in the My Little Pony fan community. When it comes down to it, everyone is here because of one reason- they like the tiny horse cartoon. Bottom line. I’ve never run into a single instance of the legion creepy, pervy, fedora-wearing, neckbeard misogynist bullies that are claimed to populate every pony-friendly website and convention.
Quite the contrary, I’ve had a wonderful time every step of the way and I appreciate EVERYONE I’ve joined along the ride- bronies and nor/mlp/eople, artists and musicians , VAs and staff, men, women, kids a
