Done for the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls competition. Blizzard's artists were the reasons I got into drawing when I was a wee lad, but I haven't done anything in the Blizzard style for a while. (That rhymed; unintentional). It was really fun to get back into it a bit. (OMG I'm on a roll; these rhymes are so very droll).
Mgrlrglrglrglrlgl!! How about some love for Murkalot, Blizzard's 'fishiest' of crusaders?
This is my submission for the Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Fan Art Contest. I decided to focus on the upcoming Crusader class for this piece, and felt that Blizzard's sense of humor offered some room to create an amusing image. I recently saw a screenshot of the in-game World of Warcraft pet 'Murkalot', when browsing for ideas. I had a mental image of him, shattering his way through a dungeon wall to mercilessly batter poor Malthael to a bony evil pulp with his holy flail, and felt compelled to chase it. Thanks for stopping by, and thank you Blizzard for posting this fun contest! Image details/info below.

I wanted to envision an overbearing, intimidating monster, and took inspiration from a mixture of carnivorous plants and insects.
I was aiming for a creature that would move in an almost unpredictable, erratic way and look really creepy when chasing after the player(s). You're not meant to be sure what the markings mean or even how it senses your presence. People fear the unknown and that's what I'm going for with this.
