Oh thank you, dear politicians !!!Yes thank you! Thank you Mr. ex-Prime Minister Borisov for being such an attention-seeker, for handing the opportunity to for a government right into the hands of the Red! Thank you for giving it right to the people who fucked the country up! And thank you for four years of building roads but failing to find money for healthcare, for the mothers, and eventually for covering Eng. Ilchev's debts when you should have found a way to fire him and stop him from robbing the biggest and most important university of the country!Oh thank you, dear politicians !!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Thank you Mr. Siderov for being such a mad fuck, such a Fascist, for threatening to enforce laws that would leave me and thousands others unemployed just because we work at foreign companies! Thank you for being such a Xenophobic hypocrite, for using people's fears of the ethnic minorities to get into the parliament and getting rich as fuck! Thank you for all of your anarchist gibberish such as "Oh I'd oppose ANY government" - well you only wanted to get into the parlia

Meiyue has done a very nice interview here : Should You Become a Professional Artist?
She interviewed a few artists and myself about working professionally. The answers are varied as we all have had different experiences, so it's good to see the range of things an artist can go through!
If you are interested in art as a career, it might give you some tips and suggestions.

When I was a kid I wanted to be just like my father. He passed away when I was 28 but man he left a mark! By the time I was a teenager I was a lot to handle - so we hardly ever saw eye to eye. He was a tough and talented man. To me he was like a super hero. He had a very black and white philosophy about life. He defined right and wrong very distinctly - there was no grey in his world. As a kid, a philosophy like that makes complete sense even if it isn't very realistic. He was a former pro boxer turned commercial artist. Eventually he ran his own ad agency. He could play guitar and piano by ear and played baseball as often as he could. He also loved comi
Protect yourself against fraudAlthough, as an active member of the community, it's nearly impossible to have missed this huge issue, I think it's very important to warn people for this.Protect yourself against fraud1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
What happened is a large case fraud in which apparently one user (under multiple names) scammed several members of DeviantArt community. Leaving some people as much as $3000 in debt!!! Money they, most likely, never see back.
Even though the user is banned by DeviantArt now, there's no reason why it won't happen again.
After all, the problem is caused by a loophole in PayPal's rules. So basically everybody that's using PayPal for its business (and that's a lot of us) is at risk.
People doing commissions
People selling adoptables
To understand where all of this comes from, it's first of all important to know what a PayPal chargeback actually is.
This video offers a proper explanation of what chargeback is, and what it should
Asperger's SyndromeA lot of people have been asking me about Asperger's syndrome and some of my experiences with it and some of the conditions. This is largely because, on the internet at least, I seem to be good at hiding it. Most people I meet here don't know that I have Asperger's syndrome unless I directly tell them. I do have it, but what exactly does it mean? First off all, please don't use this as a way to diagnose yourself. If you think that you have Asperger's syndrome, depression, or any other mental condition please see a licensed psychiatrist. You cannot self-diagnose mental conditions. (Hmmm... I kind of have that symptom sometimes, I MUST have this disorder!) Asperger's syndrome is known as a high-functioning autism, and as such many of the symptoms are similar, and yet, in some ways it's very different.Asperger's Syndrome9 months ago in Personal More Like This
The most notable symptoms of Asperger's syndrome come from issues with social interaction. Most people seem to notice this because there are a lot of people claiming to be an asshole on the

Elsewhere, I've been meaning to do a short rant dealing with how I feel retrospectively having gone to art school. I've talked about having gone before, and I've given some advice about choosing a school that's right for you should you choose to go. But you know, having been out for a couple years now, there are a few glaring problems I see not just from the school I attended, but apparently from many schools nationwide. And this deals with offering students a clear path of study for the often specialized career they are looking to get into. Areas of art such as (concept) design, animation, comics/storyboarding/sequential, full-time freelance, and all-over jobs related to working in industry-level professional positions, or in a teamwork-oriented studio setting. Why we fall. - Edited with full postWhy we fall. - Edited with full post7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Art by Allison Smith.
"Why do we fall, Bruce? So we can learn to pick ourselves back up."
One of my favorite lines from Batman Begins. However, there are moments where it's rather difficult to get back up, and sometimes we require that one special kick in the ass.
From each tumble, we learn a valuable lesson. A year or so ago, I had hit a personal wall that was proving too difficult to force through. Art, which is usually front and center, took a back sea--and while we've all had art blocks--that wasn't the only issue.
It began with my roommate of two years, whom had decided it was time to move else where. With such a sudden interruption, I had to find a new home and in less than 30 days.
Having also been through a bleak breakup months prior, and finding myself with no pending freelance work and

Artists Beware + A Chargeback FraudEdit: this journal has been mentioned around lately because some people want to warn others about another Paypal scammer (Lunarium-Luna ), so I'm updating it with a link to a journal about this new scammer:Artists Beware + A Chargeback Fraud1 year ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Hello Lovely people,
Today, I stumbled upon several journals by members who all got scammed by one person. Pixlett / ToxicMutagen (who deactivated their accounts today) scammed more than 3,000 USD from more than 20 artists by filling chargebacks just after a while from paying for adopts or commissions. And apparently, they can do the same with points too.

I can't really do anything but to share this with you in hope you won't get scammed by this person.
Here are some journals written about this issue:
Braid Tutorial- Photoshop and SAI FriendlyThis is possible in PS and SAI. In sai you will need pen tool and marker/water. In photoshop two brushes. One for strands and a soft brush like below where it says 6, 19 and 19. The first three brushes displayed:Braid Tutorial- Photoshop and SAI Friendly3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
First draw a line in the direction you want your braids to be in. Curved or straight.
Next draw a thick diamond shape, boxy if possible. Then from about halfway attatch another diamond shape.
Continue this all the way down your guideline. You will end up with something like this below.
Colour a flat base. The midtone of your braid and reasons why will be mentioned as we go.
If you are a cell-shader this tutorial will give you an idea on what to do but this is more aimed at realism and semi-realism but ask for help if you want to see this in other styles. Moving on.

Living Rainbow Taking Flight
The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.

EVEN MOAR SKIN SWATCHES!
The best way to improve is to draw from real life. That's the best way to learn. If you don't know how to draw a certain angle of a hand or an arm, you shouldn't fudge it, you should always look it up and figure out how to draw it right. Hiding the hands behind the body is a no-no, people! The proof of bsing is easy to see: http://neofox.deviantart.com/journal/ART-knowledge-is-power-282518336

I've been teaching my friend Kitteh how to draw, so I'm learning first hand just what steps to take to improve.
There's one very special thing you must do to improve. With this special thing you can go from amateur to pro. And that's PRACTICE. You can get all the references and tutorials you want, buy all the books, save all the tutorials and referenc
