Improved DMCA Reporting SystemImproved DMCA Reporting System2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
Hello, deviants! In an effort to keep the community informed and to provide the best possible experience for our members, we wanted to inform you of changes to our reporting system.
DeviantART is dedicated to protecting our artists, and in an effort to be able to more quickly handle complaints by deviants who have had their rights infringed on, we have changed the way we receive complaints from the artist or the copyright holder.
In the past, we took reports by the copyright holder in two different ways: An informal report via the Report Violation tool and a formal complaint via contacting the Help Desk. While both of these methods were effective, they presented many setbacks.
The informal report did not gather all the necessary information for a formal copyright complaint and was prone to misuse by well-meaning deviants who would attempt to report images they did not own the copyright to
SWAMP THING: The Orchestral ScoreGot a weird treats for you all,SWAMP THING: The Orchestral Score3 years ago in Personal More Like This
For years, whenever I've been intensively drawing a comic project I often felt the need the write myself some music. I've found out multiplying my creative output mysteriously benefit them all. There is, usually, no link bridging my Comic and musical world. Some fugues and some String Quartet sketches have been paired with Batman Incorporated for instance.
This time, being so enthusiast for swamp thing, I went and wrote the scored for issue 7 & 8. OK, not really, but I've tried to cover their thematic stuff in a 3:16 of Full Orchestral Music.
Here a breakdown of the cues:
00:00 The timeless mystery of the Green
00:49 Growth and fate of the Green Warrior
1:36 The Rot
2:00 A bit of actionny big battle for those who got bored until now.
May you enjoy this roughs mix.

E3 Thoughts Day 3Wii Fit TrainerE3 Thoughts Day 31 year ago in Personal More Like This
You know, I was on the fence about the new Smash Bros game. Even with Mega Man I didn't really see anything remarkable about the game to peak my interest. But then when Nintendo unveiled the Wii Fit personal trainer as a playable character? F**k Yeah! Bludgeon your opponents to death with YOGA moves? That's the sort of nonsensical whimsy that I think was sorely lacking from this version of franchise. Count me in!
Still not sure how the 3DS and Wii U version are going to interact with each other, if at all. Iwata has said that the 3DS will have different stages, so that suggests that they aren't compatible. But then, if they're not compatible, why put out 2 games at once? Frankly, I like the idea of being able to play against Wii U opponents from the comfort of my 3DS. That would be really cool, but I don't know if that's a thing they're looking to do or not. Hmm..
PS: Maybe it's just me, but I found it rather hilarious how all the characters were practicing Yoga
Texas Abortion Bill FilibusterIn case you live outside the USA and haven't heard of this yet, Texas was preparing to vote on a radical bill that would effectively outlaw abortions within their boarders. Senator Wendy Davis came in early in the morning with the expressed intent of filibustering: The goal being to delay the critical vote.Texas Abortion Bill Filibuster1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Wendy Davis talked for 11 hours straight. No food. No drinks. No bathroom breaks. She couldn't even pause for a moment to take a sip of water or else she'd give up the floor and the vote could get underway. 11 hours straight she talked and just before the midnight cutoff she was interrupted, and the vote began... only to become absolute pandemonium as the crowd watching protested the interruption.
The GOP insists that the vote carried and passed, while the Democrats insist that they were still taking votes after the midnight cutoff thanks to the chaos that ensued. This is going to be one of those instances where the GOP are gonna try to lie and shove their way through our diplomatic
Educating OurselvesThis journal contains a lot of potentially buzz-work things that could result in arguments from people who don't take the time to read my message. For example I mention Anita Sarkeesian, but I don't want people to start arguing against her points of view because that's NOT what this journal is about. So please, read carefully before you respond to help avoid knee-jerk reactions since that's exactly what this journal is about trying to AVOID.Educating Ourselves7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Over the years I’ve had a pretty straightforward view on gun control. Guns are dangerous and need to be restricted and made more inaccessible to prevent future acts of gun violence. I’ve never genuinely believed in the idea of banning all guns because I do think people DO need to have ways to protect themselves.
However, I’ve recently been thinking more about a different aspect to the gun control debate and it’s broader implications to other troublesome politically charged areas of our (United States) cult

So yeah the next chapter in "All that is Fair Part 1" has been taking some time to complete. I am going to tell you why, it has been taking so frakkin long.
I last updated the story back in December during my last winter break from college. By last I mean that as the last winter break of my undergraduate career. After that I focused on completing my senior thesis. That included completing my experiments and writing up the results, write a grant, and I also prepared three different presentations of my work. This took me to Graduation at the end of May.
I know I should have put my story on Hiatus but I was scared that I would lose some you. I didn't complete drop the story I would work on it here and there. Then I had a little bit of time before my family, friends and fiancee showed up so I reviewed what i had done in those five months. To make it short I didn't like what I had written for

Proving your Geek CreedNerds all share a unified experience of being socially ostracized from the rest of other so-called "normal" societal groups. The reasons may vary (not being good at sports, liking a certain sci-fi/fantasy TV show, etc), but the fact that we all were picked upon and marginalized during our most formable years is a major part of the nerd/geek identity. But in recent years nerd culture stopped being it's own niche thing, and has started to seep into mainstream culture. Making nerd culture more accessible has naturally brought with it a new group of people and fans into our sphere... and not everyone is happy about this development.Proving your Geek Creed1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Personally I think it's great that nerd culture has become so widely accepted lately. I can freely have a discussion about my favorite DC or Marvel superheros in public without getting looks of disgust or incredulity because EVERYONE loves Batman and The Avengers. And if I make an obscure joke about Doctor Who, there's a LOT of people who will get it now. But l

Nuances of an Annual Ritual
Which brings us to each year’s communal celebration of the passing of our lifetimes:
New Year’s Eve
So what did you “actually get done” in the past year? How closer are you to a grand goal in life? An assessment is made and then the inevitable Step 2 of the yearly process is engaged, which is often a word for word repeat of last year’s Step 2:
The New Year’s Resolution
There seem to be two main strategies that emerge at this point of facing the New Year, a “brand new morning.” The lone wolf quietly acknowledges goals not yet reached, and is even more secretive in the “new plan.” “I’ll show them,” becomes the new privat
SYACRemember a while back I said there was something I was gonna announce about SYAC? Well here we go! I'm coming back to do more SYAC's soon. All of it too, the NSYAC and the old SYAC stuff.SYAC2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We're working right now on categorizing everything in the archives, so you can browse just the stuff you want to look at and not have it be this clusterf**k of everything hodgepodged together. We should have something ready for viewing within the next few days.
What I am going to do differently this time around is not conform to a set release schedule. I'm gonna make the comics as I feel like it and as the jokes come to me. Hopefully, without the pressure of a constant release schedule I can work more on refining the artwork and making sure nothing is rushed out.
Having said that... please keep in mind this is still a series of silly low-brow cartoon strips so... don't be expecting DaVinci level art here or anything. SYAC has never been a series where the art was meant to look like a DC comic book, an
Controversial OpinionsYou know, sometimes having opinions can make you feel like no one else shares your views, especially if your views aren't being widely vocalized around you. Case in point: It's just been announced that J.J.Abrams will be directing Star Wars 7, and the internet is raging with butthurt about how shitty Abrams is, making over abundant lens flare jokes, and bemoaning the reboot of Star Trek in the process.Controversial Opinions2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Thing is... I like J.J.Abrams. I liked LOST (despite it's shitty/rushed ending). I liked Super 8. I liked Cloverfield. I even enjoyed the recent Star Trek reboot and am looking forward to the sequel. I never had a problem with lens flares or noticed them being over used. And I think overall Abrams has made a fairly consistent batch of quality movies, which is a amazing considering how many directors flip flop between great and shitty.
But I can't often come right out and say that sort of thing because when I do I get attacked for having an opinion that runs counter to the vast majority o

KEEP IN MIND THAT I'M NOT THE BEST AND MY PONY ANATOMY ISN'T PERFECT. THESE VIDEOS ARE TO SHOW YOU HOW I DRAW PONIES FOR MY ART AND COMICS. TO GIVE YOU A GOOD IDEA ON HOW TO GO ABOUT DRAWING PONIES FOR YOURSELF.
If you decide to start drawing, keep in mind that your not going to be great at it when you first try. Believe me I couldn't draw ponies to save my life, but I keep at it and look at me now.
Don't give up, as long as you keep it up you'll soon be drawing ponies in no time. Also don't treat art as a chore, have fun with it.
Also use References to help you out, don't be ashamed to use them. Also check out this link for helpful pony anatomy sketches http://gunrunnersarsenal.tumblr.com/post/17039753243/tutorial-stuff-which-can-be-really-usefull

Waiting for the Snow to FallStill waiting for the snow to fall, doesn't even feel like Christmas at all. -Coldplay Christmas lights.Waiting for the Snow to Fall3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Well it is finals week at my universty in the pacific northwest. The weather is cold but yet no rain or snow has fallen down low. Instead it decided to be bright and the air is kind of gunky looking. It is all rather confusing. But yet I find myself not being able to get into the Christmas spirit at all this year because of the weather.
Plus the heat doesn't seem to be working in the library, so it rather chilly inside. It would not be so bad if I was just studing in the library, but I also work at the library as well. Today I am pulling a double shift.
I would not be so bad if there was snow on the ground, and more of a holiday atmosphere around campus.
Enough ranting back to studying and working.

One of the things I hate about the internet is that everything must be quantifiable. Without a proper source, no one will believe you, no matter how reliable your original info was when you received it. It doesn't matter if you heard it from a professor giving a lecture in college, if you read it in a book, read a report by a scientist, or saw a documentary that went into elaborate detail... if there isn't an internet equivalent, then you're seen as a compulsive liar.
Case in point, recently someone mentioned that my sketches look better than my finished artwork and I responded by telling them that there was science that helped back up why that phenomenon exists. But since I couldn't remember the source, I got trolled hardcore for saying that. Today, however, I stumbled upon a close enough equivalence. Here's a quote:
The sketchiness of line art mimics the natural lack of clarity in our peripheral vision. When we look at the real wo

Edit 2: People have asked if your app has to be in AT style, since people have trouble drawing in the style. Well, worry no more, here's a helpful how-to! http://www.scribd.com/doc/14686737/How-to-Draw-Adventure-Time Click the download to see it, it has 16 slides and explains how to draw and apply the AT physics. Thanks so much to Fathix for providing it, I'm sure that everyone will benefit from it <3
Edit: I've been seeing a lot of people using umbrellas and swods for weapons, please be creative
Generally, an app drawn similar to AT style is preffered, but not required (however, keep in mind that an app drawn similar to AT style will have an edge over one that doesn't).
When making your character, please keep in mind that interaction with Canon

Luigi, Slavery, and Adventure Time Progress VideoYear of LuigiLuigi, Slavery, and Adventure Time Progress Video2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Nintendo announced recently that Luigi will be getting quite a bit of due attention this year, declaring 2013 to be "the year of Luigi." First he'll be staring in the Luigi's Mansion sequel for the 3DS, then he will be a big component of the next Mario and Luigi RPG on the 3DS. In the RPG game, Mario will enter Luigi's dreams where Luigi can be as awesome, if not better than, his overshadowing brother. Poking and prodding Luigi's face on the touch screen will also alter the dream world, allowing Mario to proceed through obstacles. And if that wasn't enough, there is a new DLC package planned for New Super Mario Bros U which basically adds an entire game's worth of new levels exclusively to be played by Luigi. Pretty solid stuff, Nintendo. Now say that 2014 is the year of the Peach!

I have been thinking of changing the name of my person OC (the one trotting at the bottom). Right now he is called Brass Arrow. The name came form a mix of a name generated by a MLP name generator at rum Monkey and the metal I think of when I say steampunk. The original generated name became the main focus of my fan fiction starring Steel Arrow.
If any of your read this what do you think keep it or change with something else? If enough interest is show I post up another journal (because you need a premium account to make a poll) with some of my options.
Luna EclipseWow that Luna episode. Not quite the voice I imagine little to high pitched and not as soft as I imagined. Well at lest one of our theories was correct she does seem like a trickster, and she just trying to fit in but a lot has changed in 1000 and she just trying what she remembers to be the norm. But that leaves one question what has she been doing for over a year? Unless the episode are not in chronological order in the airing time line.Luna Eclipse3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So this episode could in pony universe time it could have taken place right after she came back so ponies could have been still scared of her. But in the past season there is really no proof to support my theory in full. But it would explain a lot of the trouble she had during the celebration one year after her return.
By no means does this take away from the episode. It will be in my top five favorites. Viva the new lunar republic.
