A few words about „graphic novels“I really, really dislike the term "graphic novel". But why? At a first glance, it may sound like it lends the medium some well-deserved decency, which the term "comics" doesn't. But under any interpretation, I find the term "graphic novel" to be derogative. Mostly for these two reasons:A few words about „graphic novels“1 year ago in Personal More Like This
1) It implies that comics should be ashamed of themselves and should strive to be more like novels!
2) It implies that comics which can't be called "graphic novels" are of lesser value!
Now, I love comics. Not specific comics (although there are specific comics I love), but I love comics as such. That is, I love the medium. I love the possibilities, I love the totality of them, I love their diversity, I love the specific mixture of crafts and skills. I love the sort of stand-alone comics that would be called graphic novels (two of the usual suspects being Art Spiegelman's "Maus" and Chris Ware's "Jimmy Corrigan"), I love the mainstream monthlies, I love indies, I love high-brow and low-brow alike. What the Writers Did RIGHT (Opinion)It’s a well-known fact online that the “Voyager” writers had to make a lot of choices over the show’s seven year run, and it was probably impossible to please everyone. Some were angry that Kes was bumped off and “replaced” by Seven of Nine; some thought “Voyager” overused the Borg; some wish it would’ve had continuing story arcs like “Deep Space Nine.” Re-watching the DVDs, I’ll admit that there are things I wish they had done differently. That being said though, I think the writers deserve more credit that they get, at least in some regards. Comparing the later seasons to the earlier ones, one can see a lot of changes that—in my humble opinion—were for the better. What the Writers Did RIGHT (Opinion)2 months ago in Personal More Like This
The following is a matter of opinion. I’m not trying to flame anything, and I’m hoping there won’t be too many flames in response. If you do respond with a flame though, I’ll request that you do so in a funny, t

But, at this moment I am trying to decide what program to start using with my tablet. Before I have been using Corel painters 4, but it is really out dated and its between trying to use that again or move on and try and use SAI and maybe Photoshop. I downloaded it on my old laptop but, I had no clue on how to use it at all, and photoshop is just fucking expensive. So, I have no clue on what I wanna do and on top of that my crappy printer won't work with my sexy new laptop. If anyone has any advice on what i should do/ pick then PLEASE help me T^T.MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!5 months ago in Personal More Like This

The FPDAD ArchivesIn 1934, the U.S. Government established a national park in the Florida Everglades through the envision of conservationist Ernest F. Coe in an attempt to protect the delicate ecosystem it harbored from increasing human activity. Fourteen years later, in 1947, the park was dedicated to President Harry Truman. The FPDAD Archives1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Currently the Everglades National Park protects over one million acres throughout Dade, Monroe and Collier counties in Florida. It is a rich ecosystem containing more than 350 species of birds, 300 species of fish, 40 species of mammals and 50 species of reptiles.
The Everglades was an ideal location to establish a biological research facility. During the 1960s, a period in American history of boosted scientific advancement including the invention of birth control pills and exploration of our moon, a division of the U.S. Government, the United States Pathological Research Association (USPRA), established a subdivision in the Everglades National Park focusing on the study of biologi
Projekt: COLUMBUSEven though I had the idea for this project since 2010, I might cancel/postpone it, because i just found out that it has a lot of similarities with the game „the last of us" and because my drawing skills are not good enough for it yet.Projekt: COLUMBUS2 months ago in Personal More Like This
But because I don't want to leave you wondering about it, I'm just gonna tell you what it is all about:
In late 2015, the US military developed a substance called „emendatium", that enhances the soldiers physical abilities by releasing adrenalin and testosterone into the body and by increasing the regenerative capabilities. Due to an accident during the production, a mushroom found its way into the substance.
This new, contaminated substance was injected into the soldiers of an entire unit that soon started to act strange.
The mushroom infests its hosts mouth and brain and controls it. Mushrooms start to grow out of the host and the new substance also releases mutagens that alter the hosts appearance and abilities.
The passing on of the mushroom occurs t
BRILLIANT IDEA !So of course I'm still going to create the Martian Geckos...BRILLIANT IDEA !1 month ago in Personal More Like This
But I thought of another brilliant idea ... A high gravity planet, with a warm, dense and immensely humid atmosphere, where Amphibians of the present (or past) were transplanted to !
Imagine the strange animals that could evolved there ! People usually have near-Earth-like, or lighter-than Earth gravity on the planets of their projects, but I rarely see anything concerning high gravity worlds. Although it would be quite cool to see tall, ropey salamanders, that are as quick-footed as the large cats of modern-day Africa, or spindly frogs that can jump up to 6 meters in the air, while surrounded by a jungle stocked with trees that could make Earth's largest skyscrapers envious....imagine a high-gravity planet where trees are columnar and roughly the height of large houses, salamander like animals are either flattened organisms with hair-like extensions of skin that intake higher amounts of present oxygen, or are long, bulky, an
spanking machine in-school suspensionNine year old Bellett Jackson set in the in-school suspension room doing the work sent down to him from his teacher to keep him busy for the day just like any other student unlucky enough to have been punished with an in-school suspension. The difference between our young hero and a normal child with an in-school suspension is that Jimmy was completely naked. Also instead of sitting at a desk, he was leaned over a bar supporting his chest and hands and legs tied into a machine with a paddle on a mechanical arm just out of sight that was lined up with his bare behind. The shackles on his arms would release enough for him to be able to work but would tighten back up when it came time to paddle him again. The machine was set up to spank Bellett every hour right on cue with when his teacher would have her students' changes subjects. Also at recess and lunch time, Bellett would have an especially hard paddling. The desk was also set up with sensors that could tell if Bellett was working andspanking machine in-school suspension1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Earth Day: The Inspiration of the Natural WorldSince human beings harnessed the secret of fire the natural world has been seen by many only in terms of how best it can be exploited of its abundant riches. It’s amazing now to look upon the desert sands of the Arab lands and know that this place, the cradle of earliest civilization, was once known as “The Fertile Crescent.” All Europe was once one great forest – until all those trees were needed to create the naval armadas of dueling empires. Only the Earth’s natural forces, like earthquakes, have been more destructive and wasteful than humanity.Earth Day: The Inspiration of the Natural World1 year ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
