Inspiration: What Did Princess Ukok Look Like?Found here at the Mary SueInspiration: What Did Princess Ukok Look Like?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The mummified remains of "Princess" Ukok, as the scientists named her, was discovered nearly twenty years ago in the Altai mountain range in East-Central Asia. Kept for all that time in Novosibirsk, Russia, it was not until very recently that she's been revealed to the rest of us. But among the general wonder and fascination that always comes with finding mummified and ancient bodies, Princess Ukok has another: She's covered in remarkably preserved, completely badass tattoos.
People have been tattooing themselves and each other for almost as long as humanity has existed; it just seems embedded in human nature to adorn our bodies in one way or another, whether through cheap drugstore eyeshadow or ancient ritual inking.
Princess Ukok and her warriors are believed to be members of the Pazyryk nomads who existed as early as the 5th century BC when they were
A Fat Female Superhero - Half WayWe've reached the halfway point for entries in the Fat Female Superhero contest. I must say, I am amazed at the support and commentary for such an event. I think that most people have realised that it's not about winning a prize, but about challenging the accepted norms of the industry and creating characters that we want to see represent us.A Fat Female Superhero - Half Way2 years ago in Personal More Like This
With such a loose contest structure, accepting any strong female protagonist who defies body conventions, I'm amazed at the diversity that has sprung up in the entries. I didn't want to constrain artists and have them create something that only I define as "fat". It was up to YOU to decide what the word "fat" and "fit" mean.
And really, "fat" is such a curious, loaded word. To many, it is an insult. "You're too fat." But everyone has fat. Some have a little, some have a lot. Some peopel interpreted the "fat female superhero" as someone who is overweight or obese. Some saw her as simply someone who has fat deposits on her body that exist outside he
Birthday Feature [Selina]Hello everyone, as many of you already know, today is the birthday of one of the dA's most lovely people you can imagine. She is a very kind hearted and such a nice person. She is our dearest Selina :iconsesam-is-open: May you live happily and there is no sorrow and problem in your life.Birthday Feature [Selina]8 months ago in Personal More Like This

Reverse Nice Guy SyndromeI'm just going to dub it "Reverse Nice Guy Syndrome" for now because I don't know if there's a proper title for it, but I've noticed that there's a peculiar little bug that hits various people (although certainly not limited to "guys") that causes them to genuinely believe other people (or certain individuals) "owe" them attraction. In short, it's basically like "Nice Guy" syndrome in that it involves a feeling of self-entitlement, but in this case it can sometimes be a somewhat backwards attempt at empowerment in that the "syndrome" causes people to believe that if another person does not feel attracted to them, physically or otherwise, it is automatically the other person's fault entirely, and they are labelled as "shallow" (or an asshole, jerk, bitch, haughty, etc.) simply because they do not have an attraction to or possess a desire to sleep with the "deserving" individual. Like the "Nice Guy," the person always feels like they are the victim in the situation, and in many cases isReverse Nice Guy Syndrome2 years ago in Personal More Like This

News and experiences, features, all in allHello, my dear friends! I hope you'll have time to read this sort of all-in-all journal. I've been a little bit unactive and I missed you a lot!News and experiences, features, all in all2 years ago in Personal More Like This
One reason for being so active is that I had two important exams in the week from three subjects. I know the results of two, they both became 5, what is the best grade here in Hungary. These were the oral exams, and it was told to be crucially good. The another one became good as well, I hope. Unfortunately there is that "end of the school year-run", but I hope I'll be able to look up here as much as possible.
I would like to thank you all who helped me with the Debi proect. The charity week will be organised next week, and I will bring the book with myself to collect another encouraging lines for her. When I've begun it, I didn't even thought that there will be so many volunteers. God bless your amazing soul!
I would like to share something with you I've learned. A we

10 facts for being proud of your artI wanted to update my journal to forget that depressing crap and write something positive that hope maybe can help someone ^^10 facts for being proud of your art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
those are 10 things we can do to love our art, many time we think (so I do) that our art is crap we want to be as good as somebody else but we just can't, in most of my life I just underrated my art, thinking that the others just say they like my art to be nice to me, lucky enough I learned that my art is good, is great in it's own way and everybody is
1) enjoy doing it, there's no point to make art if you are not feeling it, if you just draw for the others comments you won't ever like at all, there will be something missing, so let's have an awesome time, putting all our effort, and our feelings on it.
2) don't draw what people likes just to be popular, that's just wrong, and also don't stop drawing something you like because of people, our art tell us who we are, tell us about us, what we like, what we want, what we can't stand, if you can transmit something w

10 Simple Tips for Getting Your Art Accepted QUICKIt's troublesome for all of us when we have to ask you questions and, require you to withdraw and resubmit your deviation for one reason or another. Well, this document is designed to help prevent that so we can all have a nicer day!10 Simple Tips for Getting Your Art Accepted QUICK2 years ago in Personal More Like This
1. All Members:
- When you upload your art to dA, select the proper category. ex. When a member submits a drawing to our Digital Art folder, but we see that it's in dA's Traditional Art category, we will ALWAYS question that.
2. Digital and Traditional Artists:
- List the media/tools/programs and reference image links you used to create your art in your description. This is a practice of Pros, and it helps us to ascertain that your art is submitted to the proper folder.
- If your art is a photograph, and you did any editing besides tweaking, or BW/Sepia conversion then we will probably consider it a photo-manipulation. This includes selective de-coloration. Submit it to our Digital Art folder.
My Spider ExperienceSo i was walking to the kitchen to make myself some deliciously delicious food. As im walking there, on the wall infront of me, i see a BIG, HAIRY, LONG-LEGGED, LONG-FANGED, BROWN SPIDER! This thing must have been the size of my palm. It startled me at first, then I started looking for the bug-spray-killer stuff. I went to the kitchen, found the spray can, then came back out to spray the spider and it was GONE! So im sneakin around, turning on lights and stuff because its night time and its dark, holdin my spray can like a gun. Suddenly I see the big thing crawl around the corner towards the TV, so i rush over and see it on the wall. It see's me too and it did the WEIRDEST shit! It bent its legs inward and PUSHED itself, like LAUNCHED itself off the wall IN MY DIRECTION, then TURNS itself around in mid air FACING ME with its legs all out! While it was in mid air coming at me, I sprayed it - while screaming - matrix style. (This all happened very fast by the way.) AMy Spider Experience3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Next Step For Skullgirls: CrowdfundingWell, we now know that Skullgirls fans can raise money for charity. But how well can they raise money... for Skullgirls?Next Step For Skullgirls: Crowdfunding2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Beginning on the twenty-fifth of this month, Lab Zero Games will be running an IndieGogo site to help them raise funds to get the next batch of Skullgirls DLC, including Squigly, off the ground. Their bottom line is $150,000 -- but as has been pointed out before, this is actually pretty damn cheap for developing one fighting-game character, especially considering that Capcom has been known to spend seven-digit sums on the same thing... They're also planning stretch goals if they reach beyond their target amount, including more stages (for which Michiru Yamane has already offered to write more music) and more DLC characters after Squigly (which may well include the first playable male character in the game).
This step is regrettably necessary because Lab Zero's publisher, Autumn Games, is mired in a two-year-old lawsuit over a completely di

I'm only going off of my own personal experiences talking about these few things. (And I'm not specifically talking about ONLY dA here.) So take it with as many grains of salt as you can.
I've recently been asked questions like "How do I get people to see my work?", "Why am I not receiving commission inquiries?", "Why isn't anyone following my work?", "What can I do to get better?". Often, and I answered it before, the answer is as simple as this:
Create, as in, DRAW. PAINT. RENDER. SCULPT. You have to do develop a tolerance (or the obvious definition: LOVE) for creating if you want exposure and to get better. You have to LOVE the drawing or illustration that you HATE how it came out in the end. You have to ask yourself after every piece, what could I have done to do that differently. And you have to do this frequently.
Some folks come on the scene, post once or twice a week, and expect an audience to flock yo

WHAT IS DEVIANT DISCOVERY?
Deviant Discovery is a weekly Journal Feature that focuses specifically on Deviants that have good art, but haven't gotten much attention for it. Every week, a new Deviant will be chosen, and a few of their artworks will be show in this Journal, along with a description of the artist themselves. This weekly feature will serve as an attempt to get under-appreciated artists more attention then they already have.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It will work in a similar way to Daily Deviations - either I could select a Deviant myself, or someone could be suggested by another Deviant. Once a Deviant is chosen, we'll find their best five Deviations to be featured in the Journal. Then, we'll give a short description of the artist's work, and a small explanation of why they were chosen. The feature will remain on the front of my page for seven days [168 hours; one week], so that the Deviant can get continuous attention. Suggestions could be s
My Journey to Publishing a Manga in Japan - Part1My Journey to Publishing a Manga in Japan - Part11 year ago in Personal More Like This
I am an italian student currently studying and working in Japan. In the middle of the studying and working I am also trying to publish a manga. I wasn't able to do it yet but I learned so much by trying that I thought I would share what I know with others that have the same dream. And maybe those people might give me advice as well or talk about their own experience with Japanese Publishers.
So first of all, when did I decide that I wanted to publish a manga? When it became clear to me that I could actually do it .
I used to read manga when I was younger but it never occurred to me to dream of publishing one because I couldn't really draw, I wasn't in Japan, I didn't speak Japanese and I had no idea how the all publishing a manga thing worked.
Years later I decided to move to Japan not to publish manga but to learn Japanese (I studied languages in Italy but my University didn't offer any Japanese language course so after g
