Last year you guys probably remember the really controversial SOPA and CISPA bills that were trying to be passed. If not, a quick review is basically they were ways to regulate and monitor the internet of private citizens. These aren't people who were suspected of doing anything wrong, they aren't people who had been involved in criminal activity and their computer might have evidence, these weren't people that the government had any business looking into their internet activity because they didn't have a warrant and had done nothing wrong.
Basically, the people that SOPA and CISPA targeted were you and me.
Private citizens with rights to privacy.
Both bills were beaten back with tremendous public outcry and politicians were hammered and called and people really put up a fight. However, for as much as we wanted to believe we'd won and sent the message, I think a lot of us knew it was only a matter of time before they tried again. Because lets be hones
