Stop the perfectionismOn my Tumblr site someone asked me for some general advice for an aspiring comic creator. This is what was on my mind. Thought I'd share it here on Deviantart as well.Stop the perfectionism3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Right now all I can think of is something I've been thinking about lately. And that is the depression some of us artists get about our art. Like our expectations aren't just "My drawings need to be good!", they are "My art needs to be PERFECT."
So I would suggest always try to improve, gain confidence, but expect good/average output. Don't expect perfect art, ever. By doing this only causes you to be frustrated, which in turn causes mistakes, which pisses you off more, then you're stuck in a lame spiraling circle downward to the pathetic whiny artist. Which in turn kills your deadline. Giving yourself freedom from perfection makes drawing much easier and better art is produced and on time.
I'm currently working on this piece where it started out difficult, I had high expectations for it, I was in a bad mood, nothing was

This new trailer has everyone doing super cool stunts and Tony Stark with a bit of that signature deadpan sarcasm. Hell’s Kitchen in New York City was a pretty rough place
Like many areas of the city in the 1950s and 1960s, poverty gave way to hardship which in turn created crime. The New York of that time period would be unimaginable to people only familiar with today’s Disneyland–inspired Times Square. But back then things were tough.

Mayan Warrior Queen UnearthedIf you are familiar with the great warrior queens of history, then you are probably thinking of Boudicca of the Iceni, Zenobia of Syria, or Tomyris of the Scythians. Sadly, the New World civilizations are lesser-known to most people.Mayan Warrior Queen Unearthed3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I am a total nerd for pre-Columbian civilization, and that's why I totally squee'd when I spotted this news article today about the discovery of the tomb of the ancient Mayan warrior queen, known as Lady K'abel.
Lady K'abel was queen of the city-state of El-Peru-Waka', from 672-692 AD. The Mayan civilization was not a singular kingdom, but a collection of independent city states. Lady K'abel was married to the king K'inich Balaam, and apparently held the title of military governor.
From Discovery.com News:
"Archaeologists in Guatemala say they have discovered the 7th-century tomb of Lady K'abel, one of the greatest queens of classic Maya civilization.
The most powerful person in Waka' during her life

EDIT PART 4 - Here are some images that help make more sense:
"You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes." Doesn't this sound oddly familiar?
By picking the blue or green options in Mass Effect 3, you basically agreed to give up, stop fighting and just die. Picking the red beam means your still fighting, struggling against the Reapers, not going to just lay there and die like they want you to. Live to fight another day..
-Cosplay Bullying PSA-As of recent I have noticed a continuing trend of cosplayers who deem themselves "professionals" bullying other cosplayers. They throw out demeaning insults like, "your cosplays suck", "your not a real cosplayer because you bought your costume items and didnt make them", "your too fat for that", "your not the right race/color for that", "your not good at making props, you should give up", "your not allowed to create your own versions of characters", "your not on my level" & "I'm so much better than you"....-Cosplay Bullying PSA-2 years ago in Personal More Like This
All I can say is that this has to stop. This is wrong. Since when did having fun, letting go and enjoying "make believe costume time" become such a horrendous, hateful, drama-filled competition? What gives people the right to bash other people, or to tell them they are "doing make believe wrong"? When did the egos become so unbelievably huge??
Cosplaying is supposed to be about having fun, about being someone else, about creating something awesome and showcasing what you Made. W

2. Who is your favorite character? Why?
Carlisle, I suppose, because he was the only one who had a backstory I actually was interested in. Why couldn't this story have taken place 400 years ago, been about Dracula-type vampires, had no teenagers in it, and been a deep, physiological tale about young vampire-slayer Carlisle being bitten and trying to reconcile himself with his new 'cursed' existence and find his place in the world- all while trying not to be found out and murdered by the other vampire slayers? Huh? I would even have tolerated a romance- one that was intelligent and well-done.
3. Who is your least favorite character? Why?
Bella. Because listening to her thoughts makes me want to stick a fork in my arm. Or eyes. Or brain.

How to help someone depressedWhat I hate about our apathetic and stressful and greedy world is how people are too cold to know how to help someone with their depression. I should know, since I suffer from depression. How to help someone depressed1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Professional headshrinks and psychologists and such can go kiss my ass when it comes to depression - they might be good for guide lines and such things... but to help someone with depression? Fat chance. And same goes for people on Youtube and such sharing their videos on how to "deal with depression". People think you should get instructions - like some sort of manual on how to deal with depression, and that it's this complicated mess you need to explain well-worded for a long-ass time.
It's not. It's just not. It's only "complicated" to people because we as said live in a apathetic world... a world where there's no room for empathy, love, compassion, and caring comfort. Nothing could make me realize this better than Justin Carmical's (JewWario's) last words he gave the world before passing away:

One of the questions I get a lot are "who do you buy ____ from?"
I always assumed that all sites were pretty equal,

they have broken their our rules but still refusing to refund the purchase,
and because of the way they worded the product paypal is refusing to step up.
I'm pretty burned,

or have had major problems from dealing with people online.
As well as people who have had amazing experiences.
Here is my list,

A Note To All Gargoyles Fans:I'd like to start off by explaining that I am a long standing fan of Disney's cult-classic series; Gargoyles. I was five years old when I first became interested in the story and it's characters, and looking back on it I may have been the only one among my friends watching it at the time. And now as I have matured, I find myself enjoying the series much more because I better understand the writing and progress.A Note To All Gargoyles Fans:3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In my observations of discussion boards, forums and fan-art postings, I've noticed that most fans have been disappointed that they have yet to see the release of a live-action movie based on Gargoyles. And while a live-action adaptation of one of my old favourites would excite me, I'm kind of glad they haven't tried it yet.
First off, over the past several years I've seen a number of adaptations of comic books, video games and TV series' that happened to be notable disappointments towards longtime fans. Case in point: X-men franchise and Transformers. I've also noticed that in l

You will soon be watched as if you are nothing. They would have us believe that there are threats to us. There is no threat, there is only the Dictators and the Corporations, some of which overlap closely.
