Lumi, a first previewHey ! :]Lumi, a first preview4 years ago in Personal More Like This
So I've made some new changes on Lumi, my future Visual Style for Windows 7. It will continue to change in some details, and it's certainly not over yet, different parts are still the one from Soft7.
Anyway here's the actual result :
White isn't it ? ^^
My main ideas were :
more "minimal", less transparent, and add a tiny color.
The window on top left is active, the others are inactive (mainly a difference in the shadow, but the windows themselves are a bit more transparent).
The "Yes" button is hovered, like the Music icons. The DVD drive is selected
I believe the caption buttons are too subtle right now, and I'm still trying to do a nice hover effect, subtle but visible.
It includes the new icons on the Navigation Pane, obviously based on the icons in Mac OS Lion, entirely made from scratch (all of them) with the subtle blue of the theme.
By the way, don't get it wrong, I hardly have time to play all t
How to (sort of) get Truetransparency on Win7A lot of people ask me how to make TrueTransparency play nice with Windows 7.How to (sort of) get Truetransparency on Win75 years ago in Personal More Like This
The short answer is: You can... well sort of.
Here are the general problems (I'm going to assume people with Win7 are on the 64-bit version, or Win7 x64).
1) Explorer windows are not skinned (or any 64-bit programs for that matter).
2) Explorer windows skin, but the toolbar is completely transparent.
First, you will need both TrueTransparency x86 and x64.
For your convenience, here is a zip with both (x64 can be hard to find): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7100381/TrueTransparency.zip
To skin all windows, you will need to run both the TrueTransparency.exe in the TrueTransparency x64 AND TrueTransparency x86 folders.
At this point, all windows should be skinned (with the exclusion of "special" windows like Google chrome, Command Prompt, GIMP/Photoshop, Task Manager, etc.
You may notice that the explorer toolbar is completely transparent. There are two workarounds for this.
One involves removing the too

Sans serif — Italics & weights
In the previous article of the typography series I presented some of the basic principles of type design and we started designing a geometric sans typeface such as Futura. In this article we will expand that typeface and add italics and alternate weights. Or rather, I will show you how to design italics and briefly present how you can modify your regular weight typeface to create alternate weights rather than having to re-draw the whole letter.

I used to watch it in shamed solitude until a few years ago Glee did a rocky horror episode and I discovered Cory actually watched the movie and liked it also! I was stunned! Normally he doesn't watch these kinds of 'out there' films. We've made it a point to watch it together since then. Sans serif — Roman
In this article/tutorial I will show you how to design a typeface. I will cover the basics and show you how to design advanced letters as well. There is so much I can talk about though, so if people like this article I might expand on this with future articles and get more into detail. I will only cover the design though, so you will have to research how to do the spacing and programming and turn your typeface into a usable font—or wait until I might do an article on that as well, but I don’t have such an article planned anytime soon.
What will we design?
I will first show you how to design some basic letters for a geometric sans typeface like Futura, because it utilizes geometric shapes, which is always my starting point for every typeface regardless of style. O
Canon 5DMk2 in the lake...Last month I was out shooting by a beautiful lake, all in winter spirit with ice along the shoreline. This particular day it was extremely windy and the sky were just speedin' past like lightning, leaving beautiful trails of dust in the heavens.Canon 5DMk2 in the lake...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
So, I decide I wanna get the more "low" shot and walked down to the surface. I gently place the tripod, with camera attached to of course, two legs on the ice and the third on solid ground. Checked it twice, it was sturdy and would be still. Yeah...
Composition is set and placing of the 10 stop filter for a long exposure, check. I stand up and look around, as the camera screams beautifully with it's open mirror, soaking up every glimpse of light around.
The shot is captured and I see it's being saved down the card. As I lean to pick up the camera I see the third leg slip from the rock and down between the ice and rock, where there wasn't a hole 2 minutes ago! Of course this ice wasn't solid, after all.... dumb idiot.. It gently moved back and f

The vibrant digital paintings of alicexz are fiery, emotional, and incredibly memorable.
The colors of her creations (mostly portraits of popular TV and Film characters) are unusually vibrant, which is remarkable considering how layered they appear to be. It’s sort of like what manga characters might look like if painted by one of the Dutch Masters. And this artist exhibits just the right amount of quirkiness to leave us wanting to know more: she has a penchant for painting redheads. But, then of course, there’s a lot of red and golden fire burning through most her artworks.

No matter the brave, fierce constructs we build and serve that would have us believe we are each one of us all alone as we make this journey, we make our way toward the end of all things side-by-side in our community of the living each day defying death. Our paths may be wildly divergent—the way of the hungry and impoverished traveling the same timeline with the grotesquely indulgent, the very best of us side-by-side with the most evil of us; but all headed for the same fate: dust. Space Art: An important key to our futureWhy do YOU create space art?Space Art: An important key to our future3 years ago in Personal More Like This
For me, there's a couple reasons. It's not just because it looks "cool" and "badass," but the meanings for me run much deeper into the roots. I am not just creating a fictional world on a desktop, I am creating a place that may exist in reality and bringing you there with me. The sheer thought of viewing a space scene so close in hyper-realism chills you to the bone in awe- to be able to view something that humans may never set eyes on ever.
As a space artist, it is important for me to bring the viewer important and factual images and information to educate and enlighten every human. Our existence on Earth is just a small blip in the in the whole time-frame of the planet's existence. Before we were conscious of our surroundings, amazing and unimaginable things were happening in the cosmos- Super novas, comets colliding with planets, Suns eating their humble orbiters, and black holes swallowing solar systems. Those are just a few to name, but you know what,

Now we are going to open up our gallery, with a new folder, specifically for these workshops! This means you can write up your own Workshop or Tutorial to teach others the great functionality of Rainmeter!
We do however have a few submission rules since without rules we would descend into chaos!
There should be an accompanying example skin if applicable.
It should use current coding standards at the time of submission.
It must be an original concept that does not duplicate existing workshops.
Furthermore you can submit them in 3 different ways.
A deviation with a screenshot and downloadable rmskin package. Suitable for simple workshops.
A Sta.sh entry with a thumbnail of the linked deviation with a rmskin download. Suitable for complex workshops.

[Featured Skin] Rainsweeper[Featured Skin] Rainsweeper3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Rainsweeper by Kaelri is another leap in making Rainmeter do things that no one ever thought possible. Through the use of a clever Lua script Rainsweeper is a clone of the classic Minesweeper game. The ingenious design allows for many features including a GUI options editor, saved high scores, and it has no images or other resource files making it light as it can be.
Thanks for the hard work on another amazing skin!
1M Downloads and GithubThis day marks a special milestone of achievement for the developers of Omnimo. A humble project that started almost two years ago reached one million downloads today. Most of you probably don't know that this project was supposed to be much smaller. When I came up with the early concept in the middle of March, I intended it to have approximately 12 panels and several text items.1M Downloads and Github4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Omnimo: The Beginning
Nothing more. However, shortly after the concept, Xyrfo joined the project. And with our combined passion and ambition, as well as with some help from others, we managed to create the biggest Rainmeter suite ever. Xyrfo did some amazing stuff for the project. Things without which it would just remain but a dream of a madman. But he did it! For that, he deserves no less recognition than I do.
And of course, we would like to thank the community for all the support! You guys are awesome! Nothing motivates doing a project better than to see people use and enjoy the product. W

Today we're bringing you some major changes for Film & Animation deviations, and also some new tools for deviantART muro and Sta.sh Writer!
Film submission through Sta.sh
The first major change for Film is that Sta.sh is now properly equipped to support film submissions! While it was sort of possible in the past, Sta.sh can now store and submit film files the same way other filetypes can be stored and submitted.
Keep in mind that you have to have film submission privileges in order to submit films to deviantART. For more information on this, please read this FAQ: :faq842:
Film Deviation Page Changes
The second change is regarding the layout of film deviations. The old film layout was designed with an older version of deviantART in mind, and this change places Film submissions back up to speed with the rest of the site. The Film deviation page has been updated to
