Metal Ornaments and Metalparts for Jewelry
I use metal findings mostly for jewelry and to embellish my featherquills.
You can find such things on backyardsales and fleamarkets, but the most reliable source is Etsy or Ebay.
Here some of my favourite Etsy-shops for metalparts, stampings and ornaments:

Okay, so I got an ask about plush making as a full time job. Plush making as a full time job is A) Time consuming B) Expensive, and C) 100% harder than it sounds.
I’m going to be using my love ness monster as an example. I’ve talked a bit about the cost of plush making before, but the cost of turning it into a business is even higher. Please pardon any math errors. I’m doing a lot of rounding and generalizing, but I hope the general idea still gets across.
Let’s assume you’re starting with nothing in terms of equipment and you want to build a plush making business. You’re going to start by making a love ness monster.
Before you even doing anything, you’re going to need a pattern. You’ll have to make one yourself or purchase one. Let’s assume you’ll make one to save money.
You’re going to need to have paper, pens, tape. We’ll assume you have that already. You’re going to need to spend maybe 5 hours
Greetings from MoerasDear whom it may concern;Greetings from Moeras3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I’m very happy you have come here, for it proves you have shown interest in Moeras. This is of course not surprising, as I believe just about everyone eventually finds themselves drawn here. It’s a very peaceful place, yet at the same time can be as bustling as Cita Erbonde during a festival. Countless immigrants come here, so there is a mishmash of cultures in just a small marshland, but you’ll always be welcome here. Our patron legendary is Articuno, which is rumoured to fly over the region every few years and cause the snows to fall.
There are two, close to three, main sections of Moeras. My home, the town of Nreole, is the “capital” of one culture, and also the capital of the province. We’re the indigenous to Moeras, which can sometimes lead to harsh feelings to the immigrant-originated Olanites, but I’ll have you know I hold no such quarrel! In fact, all in all, we get along together in the end, espe

StarCraft II is the hot tournament videogame that just may breakthrough as the harbinger of the esports phenomenon and one of the great cultural game-changers of all time.
Midnight in Anaheim. Caffeinated casters boom rapid fire commentary rattling the packed hall. Elite Starcraft players from around the globe execute complex strats that would have made Rommel the Desert Fox himself proud. 20,000 are in attendance, on the edge of their seats, and cheering as loudly as any soccer match as they watch the 30-foot screens hanging from the rafters. Another four and a half million are watching the streams live. The feeling is that of an NCAA Final Four game, set in a European soccer stadium, somehow shoehorned into a casino showroom in Las Vegas. It’s all of the skill, the fan devotion and the spectacle anyone could pos

talent follow upso after a great many debates, here is what i am seeing.talent follow up3 years ago in Personal More Like This
there are 4 types of people responding.
1. the hard working artist agrees, they understand the time they have put into it, and in turn they are seeing the improvement they desire. they study the right things, like life, to understand how things work. they fight being completely self indulgent 100% of the time so they can better learn the skills they need.
2. the casual artist who doesnt really agree because they see somebody better, they are happy with what they can do and know they can be better, but they compare themselves to others too often.
3. the lazy fuck that thinks they must not be talented because they dont put in much time. and since they are so frustrated with seeing how great others are, they must not be talented while the other person is.
4. the people who see some little kid copy a drawing and imagine that they must be some kind of naturally born incredible artist. most of these people arent much beyond a part time
The Pitfalls of Speed PaintingI've been meaning to write about this for a while now, but recently a video popped on up Ctrl+Paint about the same topic and it encouraged me to finally talk about it. It's a practice that's been misconstrued and misunderstood for a while now, so I wanted to help people get a proper understanding on the subject. The Pitfalls of Speed Painting4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Speed painting has been something of a fad for 4 or 5 years now, even back when I was first starting digital work. Like many artists out there, I thought, "Sweet, I can do really cool work, really fast!" And like many artists out there, in the back of my head I was probably thinking, "This is easier than learning the normal way!"
Well, here's the main problem in regards to speed painting. Any of those really cool, realistic and well done speed paintings you see are done by professionals who have been painting for years and years. These a

Comics MentorThe responses I received to the last journal entry about the difficulty of breaking into the comic industry were really uplifting. It was awesome to see the next generation and my future co-workers /rivals fire!!!Comics Mentor3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here's another article, this time on mentoring written by Steve Lieber .
I'm proud to say that Steve actually became a mentor of mine, (one of many) when I found my way to Periscope Studio. If it weren't for him I wouldn't be a professional today. Most of the professional etiquette I know comes directly from his years of experience and hard work in the industry. And before that, he learned from his own mentors! I think its super cool to finally become a part of this chain, and I hope someday I'll have the chance to help forge the next link. When I was alone and miserable trying to find my way into this industry, into ANY creative industry, I vowed if I ever made it I would turn aro
Roses are grey, violets are also grey...What I am about to share with you is perhaps the most universally interesting conversation topic that I have to offer: my red-green colour blindness. I've only just realised that 'colour blind' is two words, thanks to a Wikipedia article being open in the next tab. My life so far has been a lie.Roses are grey, violets are also grey...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'll start by dispelling a misconception: not all colour blind people see in black and white. (Admittedly my misleading title isn't helping the cause.) This is only the case for very very few people, and so far I haven't met anyone with monochrome vision. The truth is that the majority of colour blind people simply have difficulties telling the difference between some (but not all) colours.
Right, onto the interesting part! The subtitle is doubly suitable here, since the term 'red-green colour blindness' does not just mean red and green. Makes it even more difficult to explain, huh? Speaking from my own experience, there's very

Also be sure to check out the other awesome interviews of his "Illustrious" series: http://alex-hurst.com/category/interviews/illustrious-book-cover-artists/
It actually took quite a few months for me to complete this interview. At the onset, I found it very difficult to speak confidently of my work and process, when personally I didn't feel very good about it at all. It felt wrong to pretend otherwise, so I put it off.
Probably all artists can relate to the overwhelming feeling of inadequacy. We see so much amazing work posted by artists everyday, but we don't see the hard years of struggle behind it. It becomes easy to question one's own abilities when we know our personal challenges all too well.
Of course, those feelings of doubt are just part of the creative process.
There's only one solution
Tekkit WoesAfter playing around with the Technic Pack for Minecraft in creative mode, I decided to try my hand at legitimately playing the game...Tekkit Woes3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Wow... it's friggin' hard. And not hard in the sense that it's difficult collecting all the various ores I need to smelt and make cool things... I mean it's hard in the sense that all these mo-creatures creatures are a royal pain in the ASS.
It's one thing when you have to dig into a cave and deal with creepers, zombies, spiders, and skeleton archers... it's another entirely to have to deal with all those PLUS wearwolves, ghosts, scorpions, snakes, rats, lions, and a whole bunch of other nasty creatures. It's almost overwhelming how difficult it is to mine without getting mauled to death.
I've died a lot already, and I've only been playing for 20 minutes. Tekkit is awesome, but damn... it's really HARD to do it legit.

(1) First, you get a 360 game and pull its contents and the paper cover out so that its a blank and empty 360 case.
(2) Next, you go online (google, bing, whatever...) and look for a pic of the Halo 4 front and back cover and everything. Resize it and print it off on viable/convincing paper.
(3) Neatly trim and cut it so that the image on the paper can fit perfectly into the emty 360 case slot.
NOTE: Make sure everything looks new so that it's convincing XD
Okay, so I did all that and put in a blank disk that said "GOTCHYA!".
I went to her house and said, "Hey, ya know Halo 4 is coming out on Nov 6, right?"
She said, "Yeah?... so?"
I grinned and told her. "I pulled some strings and got us an early copy."
lol... as soon as I showed her t

You received a Mirage Ball!
For contestants, as recognition of your hard work in the round! Even if you didn't pass the round, you are still entitled to this item.
What does it mean? Well, you can now add another Pokemon to your team. Time to rhyme it seems! All right, all right, now let me elaborate a little.
Firstly, only those who finished round one are allowed this, as they are allowed to get up to six Pokemon on their team now. (The exception being if your NPC already has less than three Pokemon--in which case they may get another!) This is, as I stated above, reward for your hard work! Therefore you must have sent us your entry in a note, and it was judged. Now, unfortunately this means you're out of the tournament and now an NPC. So, does that mean you have to change your a

~Sunday Features! #August favorites Part IIHello, again!~Sunday Features! #August favorites Part II1 year ago in Art Features More Like This
It's time for the second part of this month's features and this time I think I went a bit overboard
This time I haven't picked up the favorites by category, I chose them from among those that show up on the front page. "Why feature artworks that are already on the front page?" you ask? Because I don't do this in order to promote them but simply because I find them inspiring and downright amazing, regardless of their popularity.
On a side note, I might add deviations to my gallery again as soon as I fix my scanner (and get a new tablet -.-). I also need to learn vectors (is that how you say it, "to learn vectors"?) and Corel Draw so if anyone knows any starter tutorials out there, let me know.
Also, thank you for the lovely "Happy Birthday" wishes, it certainly brought a smile to my face (:
On to our topic, I know I am joining the bandwagon a bit late with this. Not because I am not a fan, not because I don't appreciate Robin Williams as much as the next person,
