A little story...Wanted to share this story with you guys, and future creators:A little story...1 year ago in Personal More Like This
After getting out of a slump, I wanted to share this story of something I went through a few years back. Bit of a read, but thanks for sticking through it
As you know, Comic-Con is arriving and as I prepare for it, I grow more and more anticipated with anxiety/joy in regards to the re-release of Last Man Standing.
As long, challenging, and mind-opening the creation of LMS was, something really stuck with me.
Before I had created LMS, I wanted to work for WETA Workshop. To those that don't know them, they've created props, designs, sets, costumes, and more for The Lord of the Rings, Avatar, District-9, Elysium, The Hobbit and many more films.
I was obsessed and inspired with them. The creator, Richard Taylor was always a huge inspiration to me. After viewing supplements on the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings DVDS, I knew right there: I HAD TO WORK FOR THEM.
So I al

StarCraft II is the hot tournament videogame that just may breakthrough as the harbinger of the esports phenomenon and one of the great cultural game-changers of all time.
Midnight in Anaheim. Caffeinated casters boom rapid fire commentary rattling the packed hall. Elite Starcraft players from around the globe execute complex strats that would have made Rommel the Desert Fox himself proud. 20,000 are in attendance, on the edge of their seats, and cheering as loudly as any soccer match as they watch the 30-foot screens hanging from the rafters. Another four and a half million are watching the streams live. The feeling is that of an NCAA Final Four game, set in a European soccer stadium, somehow shoehorned into a casino showroom in Las Vegas. It’s all of the skill, the fan devotion and the spectacle anyone could pos

Did you thought that by default the pen will it be like using butter on bread?, you try it for the first time and you love all of it, you said i have sooooooo much control on my strokes im having a blast. Then only to realize you only have total control of the brush but when you are moving it really slow?. But when you do quick strokes the pressure drops a lot of paint making you redraw tons of stuff?
Did you ever thought that painter its hard to handle with new tablet? Too much pressure? If it has more pressure why i cant control more easier the beggining of the stroke which is more crucial?.
Have you ever open the customize option in wacom settings, only to feel dumb and no

it's a challenge. it's a challenge to be happy, to seek out happiness and to hold within you.
it's a challenge because so many people can give you attitude, can give you hateful looks.
so many people can yell at you, tell you you're crap or something.
There are people who just won't like you.
And that's ok. That's ok. There are reasons behind those actions, most of which i'll never know.
But the one thing i do know is that you can't let other people take that away from you.
People can rain on your parade but the hardest part and one of the most challenging things to do is to look into yourself and find a reason to smile.
It sounds like such simple advice that's been quoted down many times in history..
But the pathways to it.. the pathways that people take in order to reach a CONCLUSION, a REALIZATION are so vast and different.
Today i was myself. But i was more than myself. Alot of times, you have to fight to be happy, and alot

First things first: The original problem.
Ever since age 10-11 i've developed a very abstract way to see things. I've started thinking more and more how it would've been, If I could control the world. If I could be anything.
Create my worlds, live my worlds, die many times but keep the experiences before.
Rebirthing myself in another body with the experience I have now: I would be great. Phenomenal. I could fix my past mistakes.
And be so much more. Live so much more. Without fearing consequences. The world itself would be my playground.
It has fascinated me since, greatly. ( Monochrome is the artistic embodiment of this abstract emotion and thought.)
It has also been the fuel to my (soon to be developed) depression and suicidal thoughts.
I hate not having control. I hate having to feel bad, when I thought that by dying I would esca

Wow, so my deviation seem to have struck a nerve with alot of people both positively and negatively.
I just wanted to say im sorry if I offended anyone who just wanted to give some constructive criticism it truly wasn't the point of the deviation.
There were two main points in this "protest" pokeball, they are:
1. To make those who bombarded me with the "you are an art thief" comments, I explained my stance on this and some people didn't get it or they wouldn't read the previous comments I made to other people so they just wrote what they wanted and the whole thing started up a flame war, which I assure you I did not want in the least.
2. The other side of it was to those who wanted my artwork off DA because they have seen it "way too many times and DA is sick of it", I really don't feel that a small group of people could tell me what ALL of deviantart wanted to see you know? Also, I was sent many many many notes with insulting and uncalled for rude language and threats towar

5 Year Plan*Because I'll be teaching in about a week at SCAD, I've been thinking a lot about what to tell the students. And I wrote it out so that I could solidify it in my head. This stuff is for younger artists mostly, so feel free to skip.5 Year Plan3 years ago in Personal More Like This
When I spend time with another comic artist, sometimes I'll ask, "What's your 5 year plan?" In other words, what steps is he taking in order to gain control over his career in order to move up the ladder? Usually I don't get much of an answer.
The reason I think many comic artists aren't forward-thinking has to do with the way our industry is set up. Whether by conscious design or through the neglect of its participants, younger freelancers get into a habit of complacency while hoping for a chance to suckle from the teet of a major publisher. Waiting around for a career doesn't promote the idea of freelancers taking active control of their OWN careers.
If I had to sum up the 5 Year Plan
The Derpy Issue Part 3Seems like I need to clarify a couple things for people. If you don't know what the hullabaloo is all about, please read through the next couple paragraphs. If you're already caught up to the situation please skip to the second half. The Derpy Issue Part 33 years ago in Personal More Like This
In the first season of Friendship is Magic, an animation mistake rendered a background pony with "derpy" eyes. The producers thought it was cute and left it in, occasionally sticking the pony in various scenes. While many people liked calling her Ditzy Doo (based on a remark made in Winter Round Up), the general internet population started calling her Derpy Hooves. Derpy became such a huge phenomenon online that the producers decided to include her in more episodes for Season 2. In Season 2 she started appearing more up close and doing strange things in the backgrounds, making for a fun game of "where's waldo" for the fans. The capper to all this was when Derpy got a speaking role in an episode and was referred to AS Derpy by Rainbow
Yay for American Independence. No, really! An odd statement for a quasi-neo-imperialist to say, I know, but if the Colonials hadn't (justifiably) got shirty over lack of representation in Parliament, the British Empire would never have become the behemoth that it did.Yay for American Independence. No, really!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Thanks to the rebellion/revolution, the British Government changed the way it conducted itself so as to ensure such an incident would never happen again.
Had they not, a revolution similar to that seen in France, 1789, would have very likely occurred on home turf.
The French leadership maintained their "all powerful" façade, and in assisting the American colonies, spent a fortune. This further angered their already irate people, who, in seeing that it could be done, decided to have a little revolution of their own.
So, with the economy booming thanks to renewed transatlantic trade between Fair Blighty and the newly formed United States and with Britain's arch enemy France focused on tearing itself apart, there was nothing to stop the Empire's expansion.

"Yes [Name]?" He asks me.
"Permission to enter your tent sir?" I ask from outside his tent. I hear him chuckle. Then, the curtains pull back. I step in, and see my commander sitting on his bed cleanng his sword shirtless.
"Is there something you needed this early in the morning?" My commander smiles. I blush, and turn my head away. I hear a Clink! And i hear foot steps walking towards me. My commander's shadow engulfs my body. He gently puts a finger under my chin, and faces my head upwards towards him. His soft blue eyes peer into my soul. I notice that my commander isn't wearing his bandanna.
"I repeat: Is there something you needed?" My commander's breath is hot amd sweet on my face.
"Commander, I-" My commander smiles softly at my stuttering.
