My first attempt at drawing moving water and I can conclusively state it's HARD! I got better as the drawing went on but obviously still have much to learn.
Smooth A4 bristol board, a mixture of 0.3mm/0.5mm mechanical pencils from 6B to 2H and a couple of wooden HB/2B pencils. The black background was mostly completed with my new toy, a 2mm 6B clutch pencil. That sucker shades FAST!

Numerous graphite wooden and clutch pencils on Bristol Board 250gsm. Took me a long, long time, about 9 hours. For once I'm reasonably happy with this drawing once completed particularly her face, I approached this drawing in an entirely different manner which seems to work well.

Bradley Wiggins smiles as Cadel Evans struggles on the climbs in the 2012 Tour de France.

This took me about 300 hours. I had to clone myself, wait for that clone to grow old enough, teach my clone to draw and then we shared the effort. He did night shifts, I did days. Way, WAY too long. I am so glad this is finished.

A3 Smooth Bristol Board
Selection of graphite mechanical and wooden pencils from 7B to 2H, 0.7mm to 0.2mm
Blue tack erasing, dry makeup brush blending.

20+ hours A3 Smooth Bristol Board, numerous graphite mechanical pencils from 7B to 2H, 2mm to 0.3mm. Blue tack erasing. I didn't do much blending but where I did I used a dry makeup brush. Very, very challenging piece. Glad it's finished.

Awesome singer. Certainly one of the rock godfathers.
I liked this picture when I found it.

Took me a spanking 12-13 hours. Longest time yet.

Finished. Prematurely I might add. I just got tired of trying to draw smoke.
This is Wolverine, all in black biro. I used almost an entire pen for this. I did enjoy it though. On A4 Bristol board. About ten hours!!! I wish it was better for that amount of time.

Smoke is hard in biro, that's a little tip. I tried two methods of shading here. I feel more comfortable with cross hatching in ink but I've read some other guys tips and they've suggested that just shading ever so lightly produces a better effect. I'd probably agree but it's very hard.

Another tip would be not to draw the cage first, the indents that caused made shading much harder.

Audrey is perhaps the most beautiful woman in the world.

I completed this drawing remarkable quickly, probably about 3 hours in total. Some of the heavy shading could have been better but it didn't really show up till I scanned it in.

Bristol Board 250gsm card
A mixture of 9B to 2H derwent pencils with a 2B and 2H 0.3mm clutch pencil for the fine bits. I'm reasonably happy with her hair but felt that any more work in that area would make it worse so stopped where I did.

Critiques welcomed. This is one the my first pencil drawings that I am reasonably happy with so I do feel I've crossed a quality line but welcome any opportunity to advance further.

Craggy faced Daniel Craig. When I first heard he was going to play James Bond I thought he would be terrible. But then he turned out to be the best yet. He's clearly read the books so all the light humour had gone and he plays a hardened killer, has a pretty poor attitude towards women and generally does whatever he wants....just as Flemming intended.

This is my first pencil submission for a long time. I've been tied up with work and did a couple of commissions that the recipients didn't want online.

So. It's Craig on A4 Windsor and Newton Smooth Bristol Board 250gsm.
I used a selection of mechanical pencils ranging from 2H to 6B. The heavy shading was with a 0.7mm 6B clutch pencil.
An assortment of erasers with wooden tortillons and tissue paper for blending.
Took me about 20 hours probably. Phew!

I thought this would turn out a lot better. I was hoping for an abstract, high impact vision. Not so sure now.

I did of course use a reference photo and where better than DA.

My third Christmas Holiday drawing. Not very good to be honest but hey, I feel it's only fair to subject people to the stuff that doesn't turn out how I want as well as the stuff I like ;-)

Charcoal. An experiment really. Doesn't work too well on bristol board, I'll maybe stick to pastel paper with some texture to it.
