Another one of my early papercraft models, I've always liked the design of the Deep Space Nine space station, so I wanted to make my own, paper version!

I really like the watercolour-look! ;o)

A gift for my boyfriend ~Mac-n-Dos for Christmas. His favorite star trek is TNG, if favorite ship is the Enterprise D and his favorite characters were Picard, Data and Beverly. I had to ask to realize that Data was also one of his favorite. I felt weird putting just Picard and Crusher in a picture and not making it shippy :P
I wanted to nebula to be purple, but for the life of me, I couldn't get the paints to blend purple (I just had red blue yellow white and black for this).

Yup :) I don't paint much. Acrylic paints.

I finally finished building Lulu, for "real" this time! ;o)

I'm pretty happy with the way she turned out! So now all I need to do is make the instructions, and then hopefully I can release her soon!

Stay tuned!

UPDATE 2

As the original artist has finally, and quite suddenly, decided to release his template for the gear cube, and has...less than politely asked me to remove mine, I've agreed to take down my template, since in all fairness it was originally his idea, even if it was abandoned for 5+ years...

I will still be willing to provide support on it for those that already have the template, so don't hesitate to ask

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

First things first: THIS IS NOT AN ORIGINAL WORK. At least, not entirely. While I did design and build this particular instance of the gear cube, the rights to the original idea (and inspiration behind my attempt) go to Hiraku Nakamura, who only recently released/began selling his template (for the gear heart anyway, the cube has still yet to be released).

This one's got a little history to it. Videos and pictures of the original heart-version have been floating around the internet for several years now. When I first saw the cube-version some time ago, I decided to try my hand at making my own. At the time, there was no real information available, let alone a parts release, so I had to model one myself.

It ended up being a disaster. The gears meshed nicely on the outside, but when I tried to use it, the inner edges caught where they shouldn't have, some of the axes ended up being off-centered, the gears in the gearbox kept slipping and ended up partially crushing each other... ugh.

Long story short, it didn't work, and I ended up having to put it aside to concentrate on life for a little while, until recently when my muse started jabbing me to try again.

All this aside, I present my attempt at a working replica! The cube itself came out to 8" (20cm) long, 8" (20cm) wide, and 8" (20cm) high (including the gearbox makes it 12" (30.5cm) wide and 16.5" (42cm) high).

Please note however, this model isn't solely paper; I used liberal amounts of cardboard, wooden dowels for the axes, a plastic straw for the "drive shaft", and hot glue in a few places. I go into a full explanation in the instructions.

Now that I know this gear configuration works, it should be easy to do just about any other design that will fit around the core... maybe I'll experiment with making a few other templates.

Shaymin (Land form)

Here's a lil cute one which has been in testbuild limbo for a while. The model is a bit simple, but we can't really go overcomplicated with this one.

I'm not sure if someone has started working on the Sky form yet so we might probably not post both together whenever we'll post this one on Paperpokés.

I'll maybe do another picture for it later, but I kinda like the cheesiness of this one.
