So you want to make a ponyI get asked alot of questions on how to make pony plushes. I really don't think I'm the best person to ask since I'm a total noob, but I will try to help! First off, you need a pattern. I don't sell or give out my pattern, but there are plenty of nice ones online! All it takes is a bit of searching but I'm going to make that part easy for you.

So you want to digitizeIn this tutorial I'm going to attempt to explain how to autodigitize images into embroidery files. There are many different software programs out there. Here is a link to some free software called Stitch Era: http://www.imprimeo.net/howget.htmSo you want to digitize3 years ago in Personal More Like This
In this tutorial I'll be showing you how to digitize using PE Design Lite!
This software is best used in conjunction with an image editing program like Adobe Photoshop. I've found that PE Design Lite is quite finicky with colors so you need a high quality vector image of the design you want to digitize.
So the first thing you need to do is find or create your design. Once you have a good quality image open your software.
Note: PE Design Lite has only the most basic of functions. For more embroidery options you'll need to buy/download more advanced digitizing programs.
Step 1: Open software
Step 2: Import your image
This is the file I want to digitize:
Step 3: Click the autodigitize button and the color grid will pop up.
Your digitizing sof

Pony ResourcesI'm routinely updating this post with new resources that people send me. So feel free to send me links to tutorials or other informational posts/deviations/links that you think might be helpful to plushy makers!Pony Resources3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been putting together a new list of pony resources over the last few weeks. It's been a while since I did the first journal post on the topic and unfortunately a lot of the original links went dead when BabyLondonStar deactivated her account. I also wanted to include some links for other non-eye and mark related things that I've found over the time I've been on deviantART.
There's a really cool tutorial by BeeZee-Art for making spiral plushie horns that I thought folks might like to see for their unicorns. I think you could also apply it to plushies where the horn is sewn in already, getting your needle in there might be a little harder though.
Once you've finished sewing your pony you may want to take
Tutorial: How to machine stitch heads onto bodiesTutorial time! This is another basic tutorial that will show you how to machine stitch a plush's head onto its body. Please be aware that I can't teach anyone how to make patterns. I'm just putting together a few tips and tricks that will hopefully help someone.Tutorial: How to machine stitch heads onto bodies1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Sew your plush's body together, leaving the entire back open.
Sew your plush's head together, also leaving the back open.
Match the head to the body and pin. When making your pattern, make sure the circumference of the opening at the bottom of the head is equal to the circumference of the neck opening of the plush body.
Sew a straight line from one end to the other.
The plush's head is now attached!
You should now have a plush with the entire back open! All you have to do now is finish it!
MLP Resource: Pony Plushie Shopping ListHi everyone! As the winner of my poll, I've decided to make a journal consisting of a plushie shopping list!MLP Resource: Pony Plushie Shopping List3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now, I've tried to include the average prices for everything, but keep in mind that prices will vary, especially with fabric because it depends on how many yards you get! But I've tried to give you just a general idea...
Also, you'll notice that there are multiple sections for putting the eyes and cutie marks on the pony. You only need to choose one section (hand embroidery, machine embroidery, or applique) depending on your personal preference.
Rotary Cutter $11.00
Cutting Mat $13.00
Sewing Machine $100.00
Fabric Markers (assorted color pack) $6.50
Hand Sewing Needles $2.00
Note: I like to have an assortment of fabric marker colors because I use different color fabric, and some markers don't show up on particular fabric colors. My general rule is, use the lightest fab

What: Minky is a polyester, microfiber fabric that is extremely soft. It is often used in baby blankets and quilts, but also seems to be the fabric of choice for many plushie makers.
(Please keep an eye out for more helpful journals centered around plushie making! More will be made in the future!)
These tools can help make your experience working with minky much easier...
Rotary Cutter: http://www.beverlys.com/olfa-rotary-cutter-28mm.html You can use this to cut the minky directly around your pattern pieces on a flat surface, instead of trying to pin the pattern and hold up the fabric while cutting with scissors. The smaller the blade size, the better, because they go around tight curves easier.
Walking Foot: These sewing machine accessories are very useful. When sewing, because minky is slippery, the fabric may slide around a bit and get off track, making your plushie (or whatever you're making) not as accu

Message Center Performance Upgrades Message Center news to know!Message Center Performance Upgrades3 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
Today we completed a three-month process of implementing performance upgrades to the Message Center. With these improvements in place, we're able to increase site speed and decrease the amount of errors deviants may experience in their Message Centers. Our Devious Technology and Tech Ops teams have been working hard to move Message Center data to its own dedicated database cluster. We made a considerable investment in servers with 96GB of memory and 12 CPU cores to handle 6 billion messages and 6500 queries per second.
What does this mean for you?
Absolutely nothing. We hope. The upgrades have already taken place and you shouldn't notice any change in your normal deviantART experience. Eventually, you should notice an increase in site speed and a decrease in Message Center errors.
If we do run into hiccups, you may experience slowness and possib

When you make your gusset pattern, leave a little hole where you want the horn to be.
Pin the horn to the gusset hole. They should be the same length.
Now match the back of the horn together and pin.
Sew from the end of the gusset to the tip of the horn.
Now you have a horn that's machine stitched to the gusset!
