The Legend of Korra: ControlKorra woke up the next morning feeling a lot better. She was also a bit hungry but she didn't know if her stomach would be able to hold anything down yet and she didn't want to risk it. She had her head on Mako's chest, and didn't move for the longest time. Korra didn't know if he was awake yet and she didn't want to wake him up. Luckily for her he broke the silence.
"Are you awake Korra?" he said rubbing the back of her neck.
"Yeah" she answered with a laugh, it tickled.
He slowly got up and sat her up in bed. She winced at the pain in her side but didn't complain. He checked her back. He had concern in his eyes. "What is it Mako?" she asked.
"Your back is bleeding a little" he said. "I'm going to go get your mother".
"Wait" she said holding his arm when he started to leave.
"What is it?"
"I don't want to stay alone" she whispered. Ever since she had found out Amon had died, she feared that he'd appear to her in her sleep or worse hallucinate about him.
He looked at her and cradled he

Bolin could read it all over his face.
The frustration Mako gets everytime Korra gets hit by a strike. And Mako takes out his anger on those poor Pro-benders. How big his smile is when she comes around. But he hides it.
She wore his scarf, for crying out loud. And Bolin was scared that Korra took it from Mako. However, Bo realized that Mako happily handed it over to her to wear.
They were walking through the park, all three of them. Mako was carrying Korra on his back. Bolin made her twist her ankle on purpose. Just a simple flick of the wrist, and the ground Korra was standing on crumbled, making her skid and fall.
Mako was right next to her, catching her as she cried out in pain.
"Sorry Korra," Bolin whispered softly. "But you and Mako really need to get together," he said. Korra insisted she could stand and was able to walk. But she stumbled with every step.
Mako reluctantly carried her on his back, not knowing Bolin was behind all of this. His heart beat so fast and
Warm Me With Your Touch MakorraKorra had always been cold. Growing up in the Southern Water Tribe, the wind seeped through her bones and settled there permanently. Maybe that's why her heart was hard? No matter how anyone tried to crack it, they would end up getting hurt (sometimes physically). Korra could handle anything. Or so she thought. She could handle an ambush of Equalists or intense air bending training with Tenzin. She could handle leaving her home to become a fully realized Avatar. She could even handle the weight of the world's problems on her shoulders. But why had he walked into her life? This pain was more than she could bear. Her icy heart threatened to break and shatter. Mako took Korra's hand and laid it on his broad chest. She breathed in and out slowly to calm her nerves. "Relax," she told herself, "this is just training." She couldn't help but notice how warm his body was. Were all fire benders that way? He seemed to radiate heat an

"How long will she need to stay here for?"
"The rest of the week she could start hemorrhaging again... it's completely unpredictable. She can return to the Island after that, but I'd like her to be kept under close watch. We can't have this happen again next time, she won't be so lucky. Also, Tenzin, I must inform you that because of this, the birth will be even more difficult. It could have similar effects to the degree of this anything could happen, but we'll do our best."
"I understand. Thank you, Saiyu."
Korra awoke to two voices conversing somewhere in the room she was in, one of them a familiar, gruff voice and the other a hushed, whispering tone. She kept her eyes closed, a headache splitting through her head, and heard footfalls as one of the two left the room. She suddenly heard more footsteps, some further away, pacing, frantic, quick. Some more then as someone approached her.
"Oh, Korra," she heard the familiar voice say, and
Shadows Of The Past: Part 3"Korra? Ah, you're finally back, I- What happened to you?" Tenzin cried once he saw his young charge slink back into the house, her face blotchy and exhausted, her mask gone, and her body soaking wet. While he didn't approve of her activities, he knew that this was the only way the young girl was going to accept her choices, and move on, even if it was unorthodox and dangerous. He watched sadly as she swiped at her eyes and started to remove the black clothing, her top and leggings beneath.Shadows Of The Past: Part 34 years ago in General Fiction More Like This
"I got caught in the rain... and by Mako, and Bolin." She finally whispered, and in an instant Tenzin was beside her, enfolding her in his arms, already knowing the pain she must be feeling. She clutched at him, and he felt her start to cry again, burying her face in his robes. He rubbed her back, calming her with soft words as he guided her to the table, where a pot of tea, the world's best calming agent, still sat, thankfully warm.
"My dear... are you alright?" She shook her head as she

Korra peered at herself in the mirror, touching at the area that she knew that there was a fifty-fifty chance would be a bulging mass in just a few months. Swallowing nervously, she turned around and shook her head, trying to convince herself that it was not true.
That there wasn't the possibility that she was pregnant.
The idea had only just recently struck the Avatar after a month and a half of sudden, debilitating illness bouts. One second she would be fine, training away with the boys, and the next, she'd be rushing out of the gym to the bathroom. Mako and Bolin had been worried, but she had assured them that it was just a simple, passing sickness she'd be fine soon. And, sure, she got better - it just took too long for her comfort.
The week before, was when Korra really began to accept the possibility of it, dread flooding her veins. At one point, about three weeks ago, Asami and her had been hanging out when the non-bender had speculated if mayb

Korra raced around the rink, twirling and spinning around like the talented ice skater she was. Around her, people of every age and size skated in the spacious rink of Republic City Park. Snow surrounded them all, cold nipping at their cheeks, but no one paid it any mind they were all having too much fun, enraptured in their friends and families.
The Avatar was glad to be back in her natural element though the winters in Republic City were nowhere near as harsh at the ones in the South Pole, they were still pretty cold. And she loved it! Skating up to her Earthbending friend, she did a circle around the leisurely skating Bolin.
"Hey," she said, skating in tow with him then. "Don't you just love skating?"
"Definitely," he nodded at her, "we should do this more often I forgot how much fun it is, considering this is the first time I've gone in years. I'm surprised I still remember how, actually."
She laughed, and took his hand and spun them around then, ca

The light of morning sun fluttered through Mako's loosely drawn blinds, hitting him directly in the eyes, causing him to groan and turn over. He didn't *want* to get up yet. Curling into a ball and throwing his pillow over his head, he mumbled his annoyance into it. It was just one of those days for the Firebender he had come home rather late the night before from his job at the factory, sore as could be. It had been a gruelling day of work and it was still affecting him into the early morning hours he hadn't gotten more than three or four hours asleep from the never ending ache in his back. Though Mako was usually one to work his way through the pain, he just couldn't find it in himself to jump up and go like normal that morning. He was sore and tired, and all he wanted to do was sleep. And besides it was his day off... but even then, he usually got up early. But not today.
Bolin had other ideas, however this was his first day of his new job,

Another hour passed when Asami, Bolin, and the kids eagerly arrived. The children were already awake upon the pair arriving they were confused why they were being looked after by the sentries and not their parents. At hearing the news, they insisted they go and visit Korra like Tenzin had predicted to Asami instead of going back to sleep.
Upon arrival, the children began to ask Korra a bunch of questions, mostly "how much longer?". Korra laughed when they asked these questions she wanted an answer to them all, too.
Hour after painfully long hour passed, and each time Saiyu checked to see how much more dilated Korra was, it never seemed to go up. She was certainly dilated and it was definitely progressing, albeit excruciatingly slowly. The contractions grew so frequent and violent that Korra swore she was dying, and Mako did, too.
It wasn't until late that evening that it all started to happen. Korra was drifting off in between con

That's all she saw.
Not even a small spec of life, but her own presence.
Why am I here where is everyone? She asked herself in the darkness.
Suddenly a high pitch cry rang through the darkness, a baby's cry. She turned around to see a crib, light blue in color with a bright, firry red blanket draped over the side. She slowly walked over toward the crib, unsure about what was going on. But, something made her suspicions go away and left her with her maternal instincts taking over her body.
Shh, everything is ok baby. I'm here, I'll protect you. She said as she tried to sooth the baby with her calm toned voice. The cry kept ringing in her ears.
She then lightly placed her hand on the railing of the crib and leaned over to look down at the crying child. What she saw was unforgettable.
The baby's cry still rang through the darkness, but there was no baby to be seen. All that was in the crib was a massive pool of dark red blood.
She stared in horror at
FearKorra sat meditating in the front of her temporary home, trying her hardest to ease the stress out of her mind. It seemed nearly impossible. Amon's solid mask and deep, intimidating voice was replaying over and over in her head. She closed her eyelids even tighter, ignoring the sweat that dripped down the side of her face. Breathe, just breathe, she reminded herself constantly, parting her lips and inhaling large amounts of cool oxygen into her lungs. For a moment she was at peace, staring into complete darkness, feeling her body go weightless and relaxed. Her head wasn't pounding anymore and her heart was no longer beating in her ears. They were both rather calm and forgetful. Her head tilted back the slightest bit, allowing the sun's warming rays to tickle her cheeks with warmth, allowing the very edges of her walls to begin to break down. Then footsteps. Fast, light footsteps. Sneaky ones. Stealthy ones. She tried to ignore them but they kept coming. They were getting closer.Fear4 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

Another round of coughs racked the Avatar's body. She had caught a fever a few days back and was very cranky. She was restless, sore, sleepy, and annoyed with the fact she was sick. She had never had a cold in her life. Mako placed a cloth over her forehead, trying to cool her down. The Waterbender moaned.
"What's wrong?" he asked, grabbing her hand.
"I hate being sick," she mumbled. He couldn't help but smile.
"You'll get better in no time," he soothed, laying down next to her and wrapping an arm around her waist. She smiled and closed her eyes trying to sleep.
"How's Korra?" Sozi asked as she entered the room. Mac stiffened at her presence and Karah gave him a look.
"Mom's doing a little better. She finally managed to go to sleep," the little Firebender

After their 'adventure' in the ice caves, Team Avatar decided to stay close to the village for a while. Two days had past of them sitting around Korra's parent's house, listening to stories of the mistchief Korra would get into when she was younger.

She miraculously won every time, but then one day a man from the Northern water tribe came to visit and-" Korra's mother stopped as the tea kettle whistled. She got up to make their cups of hot tea.
Mako hadn't taken to the cold very well, he looked like Naga, all wrapped up in a mound of furry parkas, but Bolin had adjusted prety well. Maybe it was because Mako was a firebender. But at least Mako always had his scarf, and Korra at his side. Pabu switched to Bolin's other shoulder and sniffed at him, sensing his sudden drop in emotion.

Sleeping three to a bed wasn't the easiest thing to do but to Makko, having the two people he lovedd the most on either side of him was all that mattered. The morning sun shone way too soon through the single window in Korra's room and as Makko pulled a pillow over his head to block it out, Bolin sat up right, his nose sniffing the air before he yelled "Bacon!" And leaped out of the bed, taking the blanket with him and nearly faceplanting into the floor.
Makko couldn't help but groan, yet the soft laughter of the girl next to him instantly put him in a better mood. "He woke you up too?" Korra was still wearing his shirt, refusing to give it back the night before, her hair in a mess around her head. He'd almost never seen it free before and he reached out his hand to brush it out of her face. Not only did the jumble of colors reflect off the walls but so did noise. Their voices drifted around them in a spooky manor and Bolin physically shook with excitement "Ohh lets go deeper in! Maybe theres hidden treasure!" As he sped off, Korra took off after him "Wait up Bolin!" Makko could barely believe that just three days ago they were fighting Amon for Republic City, to defend their right to bend and live. How things could change so drastically so fast was strange to him.
Once Makko caught up the three of them slowed, matching eachother's paces and moving as one. Korra warned them that anything could be down here and to be cautious. Korra ran to the bathroom for the 4th time that morning. Mako had left early to help Tenzin out with some things and she was alone at the house. Moving back into the apartment, Mako tried to busy himself with dinner, but his mind was whirling with images and memories of Korra, and it was only when Pabu nipped his finger grabbing some carrot did Mako realise just how long he had been staring into space. Shadows Of The PastThe hooded figure slipped into the alleyway, and Mako growled. Whoever this person was, who'd been following him for the past week, was good. Always in the corner of his eye, if Mako even saw them, always vanishing when he turned around; and the tail always stopped once he returned to the arena, once he was home. Suspicious of this figure's actions, and motives, Mako had finally decided to find out what this person wanted, and who the heck they were.
