When lacking something better to do,
The shunned child often delved into daydreams--
That beautiful, potent, mystical creature
That twists and weakens alongside caged minds.
Warm emerald eyes would peer down from high places,
And soon be accompanied by those of amber.
Blue and grey were soon to follow, watching with their freezing orbs,
And lastly a dull hazel would gaze tiredly at the dirt.
Fascinated by the many shapes they took,
I would wander into them and pretend they cared about my presence.
A flicking wrist would turn into a sword,
Never eating flesh or bone and never shedding Dragon's scales.

Tired of being everyone's hero
I shed the cape and suit
Letting my wings spring out
Becoming twice my normal size
My eyes glowing green of earth
Teeth becoming razor sharp
My skin turning blue as water
Back to the dragon I once was
I need to go back to me
Before the world sunk in
When I had a pure heart
Before my first taste of pain
When love flowed freely
Smiles weren't shields of tears
Pain was a thing mom could fix
With a kiss and a band aid
The road for me has been long
Many times I walk the wrong way
When that fork comes up
I took the easy way out
My form changing with each heart strike
I decide to rest my weary eyes

Prologue:
We all sat around the fireplace big eyes and out mouth's open. Old grandmother Willow was about to tell us a story.
"Story time!" Yelled my brother Timmy.
My three sister and two younger brothers sat waiting for grandmother Willow to begin. As for me I stood by the window with my arms across my chest staring out to sea. Slowly grandmother Willow sat down in her old oak chair and smiled at us.
"What kind of story do you want to hear tonight?"
