Thank you all for entering.
Hey there, watchers! I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate your kindness and support - it motivates me to keep creating! I thought it would be nice to do a little giveaway as a way to say thanks.
I have a number of older dragons that have been searching for a loving home. They tend to get passed over because, let's face it, they don't really measure up to my more recent work. Here they are:
The winner of this giveaway gets to pick which dragon they'd like to have. I'll pay for shipping - it's fine if you're not in the US, feel free to enter. I'll run this until 11:59pm Friday October 4th, Pacific time. The winner will be chosen via random number generator, and will notified by note. I will also post the result to this journal entry. The

Spring Feature of GrimGloomTale It's been rather green, birdy and flowery outside for quite some time now, so it's the proper moment to post our Spring feature. As usual, you'll find here works that have gathered below 100 favourites - and I hope that you'd help to change this lack of appreciation.Spring Feature of GrimGloomTale 1 year ago in Art Features More Like This

The Captain's tour of interest continiues!I'd like to thank amazingly awesome :iconGreteh: and her brother John for helping us out in Chicago to manage the table and to build our cardboard fort of doom (boxes for which were provided by cyanide and happiness team). The Captain's tour of interest continiues!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
John was a toasty Mr Snippy and Greteh was Captein! We also crafted cardboard cutouts of snippy and Captein, and built a sound cannon and blasted ponies music at people.
A special feature of deliciousness goes to :iconsargemav352: for being a tasty :iconcaptainfanclub: in Chicago!
Also, Porter is best airline because their airport in Toronto isn't clogged to all hell, totally opposite of the YYZ.
I recommend Porter for all flights between Toronto, Chicago and wherever else Porter flies.
Next stop on Captain's tour of doom is Calgary, Alberta!
If you're coming to the Calgary Expo and would like to cosplay as captain or snippy, send me a note!

Don't Drink the Turpentine!Hello folks! I've been meaning to discuss this topic here for a while, but I always forget! Well, this blog's topic is about dunDUNDUUUUN studio safety! Now I know, I know, the majority of you, myself included, don't have a private studio to work out of. Your studio may be you livingroom, bedroom, basement, or garage, but there are definitely precautions to be aware of while you're madly creating art. Note: none of this information is here to scare you or deter you from making whatever art you like, it's simply here to help you develop safe studio practices. So let's get started shall we?Don't Drink the Turpentine!2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This part is specific to those of you who use traditional materials to make your artwork. The supplies we use today are much MUCH safer than those the old master's used, but there are still chemicals and materials you need to be aware of for your own health and well being (as well as those around you). I'll list the materials by

The website http://imagixs.com/ is posing itself, it seems, as an online coloring book... One their page it says....
"Imagixs is a free coloring page search engine. You can find any kind of coloring page with Imagixs!
Just type what you're looking for in the search box and get your free coloring pages and pictures instantly!"
This website is taking all of OUR art, and posting them online as coloring books. I was alerted that a lot of my art is one it. A lot of other peoples art is on it too. You can pretty much type anything into that search bar and stolen work comes up. I strongly urge everyone to search their most well known DA screen names on that website and see what pops up. And if your work pops up, contact the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page and complain. If your work doesn't pop up, and you are just outraged that they are stealing at, do the same thing. Please. It helps us all out.

I can't resist making a contest somehow related to Halloween every year XD. Let's say it is kind of tradition XD
So this year I decided to make a combined and long one, so it will not only last for more time, but also it will have 3 themes, all kinda related though :3.
For the contest you have to draw stormy (my character) at 1 of the themes or at all of them etc.

Concerns about PETAClive here. I just want everybody to know that the whole PETA issue is extremely troubling to me and there is no question of me rubber-stamping the issue without me talking to people on every side of the argument and then making up my own mind.I became involved with this project out of my love for animals.I will not put funds into the hands of those who are not the life-loving souls they claim to be.Until I am certain that I am dealing with those on the side of the angels, I am walking with a cautious stride, and ready to take on anyone who hurts the innocent,as I'm sure would all of you.Thank you for your concern for those who suffer simply because they were born into a careless world.Concerns about PETA3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Back from Berlin - a bit of talking and ZOO PHOTOSHi peopleBack from Berlin - a bit of talking and ZOO PHOTOS3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Muhaha, I am back from Berlin - it was AWESOME trip!
Thank you all for journey advices - we finally decided to not buy a sticker, to park our cars as close to the center as possible and to get to the hotel by underground. We in fact had no clue where to park or where to even leave a highway, but it somehow happened that we accidentaly left the car on the best place, which was really right next to the beginning of "eko" zone and just next to the tube station of the line which got us directly to the hotel. Yay!
The first thing I saw after getting out of the underground area was... CHECKPOINT CHARLIE!
One of the things I REALLY wanted to see in my life
And even our hotel was on a street, which used to be divided by Berlin wall! The remains were still lying just few metres from the hotel! Just AWESOME, AWEEEEEESSSOOMMMEEEE!
It really meant a lot for me.
I wonder if YOU know about Berlin wall and so...?
I think I will write a report about it next time

"E" is still not working properly :/
But I have to say that the last art-thief who told ME whole made up story about how she took a photo, which in fact belongs to me, totally cracked me up it was just soooo funny that I even could not report her she gave me such a good laugh, that I am almost GRATEFUL to her! I wish all art-thieves here on dA would be so stupid and funny hahaha!
Also, one thing really pleased me - I had my public transport ticket on the table. As I always pay for three months, I have to have an ID card with a photo of me. This small ID photo was taken in spring 2011. Next to this card, I had a little pack of another "ID" photos I got for my driving licence. Those photos were taken some week ago, so spring 2012.
I just took 2011 ID photo and compared it with 2012 ID photo.
People, I just gazed at a result!!!
There is SUCH a difference...
In 2011, with all that fat, I looked so much older, my face was just pig-pink and round ball wi

Oh my, I am so tired, as I am not used to move that much XD so that everyday's excercising makes me sleep until 1 or 2 PM XD well, I should mention that I go to bed at 5 AM or so, but still, that's a LOT of sleeping!
Hurray, lions! This journal is dedicated to Svenimal and amrodel, who love lions
There is a family of Barbary lions Lily and imon and their cubs Mark and Éta and there are two adult females Gina and Buzeta, who are imon's sisters and who inhabit neighbouring exhibit I like imon, he is wonderful young male with amazing dark and huge mane, but he is also very gentle and patient father and protective partner
All photos were taken in ZOO Olomouc yesterday.

Haha, my family went shopping and they brough me some new trousers - next time they had to went to that shop again, because I needed smaller size
I do not know if it is possible, but it seems my feet are smaller too I used to have size 38, but now I need to have 37 when I buy new shoes. I would welcome size 37,5, it would be fitting. Interesting!
Now I get back to work!
I am not a fan of B&W animal photos, but for a change......

Today I had a special little trip with my friend Kajula: in my city, quite close to my home, there is the biggest habitat of Pulsatilla grandis in whole Europe. Pulsatilla grandis is a wonderful spring flower, which is somehow fluffy, mysterious and also very poisonous. This location is very well-known and people always visit it in spring, admiring some 55 000 of flowers which grow very close to normal city buildings in a very tiny and steppe preserve. I have always missed it and I have never been there. So finally, this year I went there and I was just happy about all the beauty around me. I want to share some shots
And finally, there is some thief who posts computer sample images - http://beautifulnorthwolves.deviantart.com/gallery/ reporting (not flaming) can help
Crazy Crafts III: tweebearsI can't live with all this cuteness! I see miniatures all the time (seriously, stop me, it's an obsession) but these tiny bears are among the best miniatures I've ever seen! They're needle felted, the face details are sewn and somehow this amazing deviant makes them posable! I can't believe how tiny they are... I hope that you'll like them as much as I do. I am really stressed now - I study so much but I do not remember anything
Those texts are so complicated that when I finish reading, I am not able to say what it was about
And those are some 6 000 pages!
I feel really uneasy about it. I have no time to learn that!
Also, this winter is so bad when it comes to snow
I am really happy I took many photos of wolves on snow last year, because it seems that winter 2011/12 will not offer any nice photo oportunity. There is NO snow here only on mountains, but not here. I love snow, so it makes me sad
Well, time for new Kiriban!

How to make a viking dressI used to be a part of one history reenactment group some time ago. Such groups basically reconstruct elements of daily life of people from a selected time period; my group was interested in early Middle Ages, from the 8th to the 11th century, from the Eastern and Northern Europe. Personally, I used to reconstruct a viking woman from today's Sweden areas. Most of you will be shocked, but vikings were not half-naked barbarians with horned helmets. They had no horned helmets. Really. How to make a viking dress3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Anyway, my favourite part of reenactment has always been all the suit making. Buing materials, planning, cutting, sewing (hand sewing!), embroidering. Then, wearing. Generally, viking clothes are very easy to make, though I admit that the materials aren't the cheapest, if you want to make it as much accurate historically as you can.
Our goal: a simple dress, no emboirdery. This is actually my first viking dress I've ever made.
I've prepared a simple tut
An Introduction To Fine MetalworkingCommunity WeekAn Introduction To Fine Metalworking2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Co-written by melzika!
Fine metalworking is most often considered a medium for jewelry making, although it can be used for other works as well. Many artists have made wall pieces, sculptures, reliquaries, vessels, and other less traditional works with metals. Fine metal is a very versatile and exciting medium that challenges the artist to create beautiful works of art from something that, at first glance, might seem very hard, rigid and unforgiving. Fortunately crafters have been working with metals throughout history, and contemporary artists can still rely on the techniques of those pioneers to see metals in a new light - as soft, malleable and functional.
This article will introduce you to some of these basic metalworking techniques. This is in no way meant as a tutorial, and reading this article won’t qualify you to begin working immediately in metals. There are a lot of safety precautions involved in working wit

In this we agree, Tiarnan--Father Burke: As a culture, we've lost our reticence. What a beautiful thing--holding back the whole of it. That is not to say that truth should remain unsaid but more to observe that we've all been in such a hurry to reveal ourselves that we don't permit truth to sink into our souls. We act on impulse--on feeling--without taking the time to anchor sentiment.
I do not believe people lie when they profess their love or disgust, but these are such delicate feelings. They deserve proper care and tending. Waiting for that first kiss--that first sign or first sight of someone after sex--well, fine. [Laughs.] I won't talk to a priest about sex.
It is not a missed opportunity to remain silent if what you have to say doesn't need to be said. When did we stop trusting other people to understand the power in a touch--a glance. [Laughs] I see your look, now. You think I'm getting romantic in my old age. Maybe I am.
But how beautiful, to be in an o

Ok, ok, ok, I am almost scared - what happaned? It seems that this site is totally empty for last week!
I wonder what caused this: Sandy? Or do Americans have some Halloween holiday so they are not online? Or... is there some secret and slow Zombie attack?
Of course dA decided to use this time to announce free shipping usually they do it before Christmas and I usually get pretty nice money from it. This time I got just few dolars, so I hope dA will repeat the action - just before X-mas as they did the last year. Because this site really seems to be empty now! as a response to a free shipping, I released Free calendar for 2013 - I think I have never had so few faves, views and downloads on it. What a pity, what a bad time
I know about Sandy, it was covered by Czech media a lot
Poor people, I hope everything will be fixed as soon as possible. I did not know it affected so many people
You also know I asked you to vote for Allerlei's photo - thank you

Origins of most popular tablet weaving patterns. With the increasing popularity of historical re-enactment and fantasy-themed events came an accompanying curiosity about ancient crafts. Many now are thinking of how to make things as they were done ages ago. Thankfully the technique of tablet weaving was revived!Origins of most popular tablet weaving patterns.2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Basing on Viking period excavations, archaeologists developed a theory around the use of pierced bone and wooden squares that was confirmed in the Oseberg ship burial and also ethnological research into modern handiwork. It became obvious that the selfsame craft had been preserved in isolated regions of the Caucasus, Algeria, Burma, Slovakia, The Yemen and Anatolia and is exactly the same as had been practiced by Vikings ages ago.
With this knowledge we can now reproduce even the most elaborate pieces of weaving, however one must remain aware that tablet woven artifacts have been dated back to the 6th century B.C. and have been found as far away as Norway, China, Egypt and Anatolia, and only a portion of them were
