UPDATE: I didn't make semi finals or finals or anything, so I wanted to show the work without the dialogue and text, because I prefer it like this.
Finished! I'm not a big fan of lettering. But I'm glad I know how to do it . Other than that I had a lot of fun doing this. I used to be terrified at the idea of painting sequential pages. Rather than the traditional pencil, ink, color. But I'm very much inspired by people like *nebezial who pull it off so nicely. Time to build my sequential portfolio all over again from scratch starting with this.
As soon as I saw that DA was having a Darkness contest I jumped out of my chair. It's one of my life goals to draw The Darkness comic. I know it's just a contest and it's just one page, but it's huge for me. I love this character. This is the first dark, gritty, non super hero comic I've ever read and it's one of my all time favorite stories and characters. As long as this comic series keeps running I will find a way to work on it someday. It's on my bucket list. So I'm excited about this contest!
My teamwork (collaboration) with awesome buddy *PearlPhoenix for the Gears of War 3 contest. We are totally "Pearl" team
We represent that scene more to show for what they are fighting. For what they are using guns and for what they are battling? For something what they're seeking? For what they lost? For.... safety and peace?
We mixed our Traditional and Digital skills together into one image. Pearl did the concept and scheme for basic coloring, I did whole image by traditional medium (paints, markers and colored pencils), then on last day she did extra finishing by her amazing digital skills!
It was great fun challenge to do something totally different!
Here is fully traditional WIP painted illustration (sorry for photo quality!)
Thank you for your wonderful comments, support and critiques- I'm disabling comments since I'm unable to manage with all messages to work during my hiatus. :]
So! My entry for the Skribble contest. It was really hard to come up with something that would use the shapes from the template in the main composition rather than in a detail (the more that one person snatched my first idea just before I started to work on it ). Hope you like it!
Happy birthday dA. Even though I bitch a lot, it's been an amazing 11 years on your side and over 6 years of great fun for me.

edit: added watermarks just because
When I say "moon fish" i didn't mean the puffy one that everyone calls moonfish (btw, why do they call that thing a moonfish anyways? it's so..urgh). i actually mean "moon" fish, lol. (or maybe Clock-moon-fish? It'll get fatter and thinner depending on the "lunar" fazes 8D)
The cat is fishing .
