You Heard Something SilentA bird will never soar with broken wings.You Heard Something Silent1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
A tree will never grow with a splintered trunk.
A river will never flow with frozen water.
I'm a sound that the world would never have heard,
if not for you.
My Heart's Slowly ThawingI've never before met a fire so warm,My Heart's Slowly Thawing1 year ago in Free Verse More Like This
a blaze so endearingly devilish as yours.
You've a flame soft yet strong enough to thaw
my frozen heart of stone.
And only to your caresses will it be prone.
While I feel my bitterness retreating,
to my mind's recesses where it makes its cave,
I see only one thing in this world;
you, the beautiful woman before me;
my soul's saving grace.
I feel that my heart's (almost) beating now,
thanks only to you and your grace;
you must be proud.
I sincerely hope that your flame never goes out.
I'll always try to make sure that radiant it stays,
as I'll care for it with my best,
through all of my days.
I know now that I wouldn't be able to live alone,
not after your love,
a love I've now known.
So I'll keep that blaze alight,
even if it may burn me down,
for I've become dependent on your warmth;
a warmth enough to thaw the ice age in my heart.
For that, I'd gladly be ashes on the ground.
