First, open terminal and write:
apt-get source nautilus
sudo apt-get build-dep nautilus
The build-dep command will install all the build dependencies for nautilus.
In nautilus sorce folder you just downloaded, navigate to: src\file-manager.
Find the file named: fm-desktop-icon-view.c
Open with your favorite Text Editor and find the line:
real_supports_labels_beside_icons (FMIconView *view)
Below it you'd see this line: return FALSE;
Change it to:
On GNOME3 and Nautilus 3.x+ search for the file: /src/nautilus-desktop-icon-view.c in the directory you just downloaded.
And look for this line: "supports-labels-beside-icons", FALSE,
Change FALSE to TRUE
Save the file.
Now start to compile Nautilus.
sudo make install
Choose Text Beside Icons in the Preferences.
Nautilus now should draw Text beside ico
New SystemSo, I decided to put my tax refund to good use and build myself a decent desktop gaming/designing computer. I had a budget of $830 dollars, but I did end up going a little above that in the long run. However, I think every penny spent was extremely worth it.New System2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I ordered the parts from Newegg on Monday and surprisingly they shipped from a warehouse just an hour away from my house, so they arrived first thing Tuesday morning. I was so excited, like a kid on Christmas, to open up everything and put it together. The first box I opened was the case, and I bought a case that was supposed to include a power supply (that was a mistake) and they shipped me the case without the power supply. So now I had all these parts and no way to give them power.
I spent an hour chatting with Newegg customer service, trying to avoid having to send the case back to them just so they could send me the new one with the power supply. I didn't feel t

Art in Contemplation of Its Own BecomingDuchamp finds a discarded urinal. He alters it (by signing a name to it not even his own, but obviously “the artist’s”) and names it “The Fountain”. The most mundane, even off-putting, of objects is transformed by Duchamp into art. He submits it for exhibition and it is rejected. You might say the judges “pissed on” his idea. But the idea was born and persisted. Duchamp insisted the object was art because he as an artist presented it as such. “Conceptual Art” was born.Art in Contemplation of Its Own Becoming2 years ago in Personal More Like This

Help support our application to manage .ARTView in SpanishHelp support our application to manage .ART1 year ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
DeviantART announced a month ago that through a new organization, Dadotart we applied to manage a new Top Level Domain (TLD) called “.ART.” We are committed to having the .ART TLD — the Internet addresses that could end in .ART — organized and distributed with the full participation of the global art community.
We need your help!
We need your help to show public support for the Dadotart application. The application process to manage a TLD is long, arduous, and intricate. Help us gather as a true art-centric community. And please spread the word to everyone who loves the arts or is part of the arts because we aim to have .ART be home to everyo

BackDid anyone miss me?Back11 months ago in Personal More Like This
I kind of disappeared 6 months ago. A lot has happened since then. The house I was renting a room in was shut down for violations and the landlord, being the kind-hearted, nice person he is, waited until the very last minute to tell us of this, giving us a whole 7 days to find a new place to live. I was forced to move into a halfway house in Brooklyn and it was an absolute nightmare. I wound up having to stay there for 3 months while I looked for work and dealt with the stress of having a drug addicted, unstable landlord. Two shitty landlords in a row, how lucky am I?
Anyway, I finally found a job. A pretty sweet one at that. I'm working for a company that does sound and video installation for celebrities and other big name clients. It's a very small company, with only less than 15 people on our floor at all times, but I love it. I'm starting at the bottom, working in the shipping side of the office and prepping
How to use Network-Manager in BE::ShellIf you use Networkmanager and multible network connections in BE::Shell it could be that you are missing an applet for it.How to use Network-Manager in BE::Shell11 months ago in Personal More Like This
But you can take network manager from GNOME (tested in Kubuntu 12.04):
1. Install network-manager-gnome
2. run nm-applet from runner (or krunner (alt+F2) if it is not disabled)
that's it! If you test it in other distributions, please give me feedback!

4.2 cd be-shell-code
4.4 cd build
4.6 sudo make install

GTK theme preferences - Customize GTK themesCustomizing a GTK theme can be frustrating, especially with both GTK2 and GTK3 themes lying there. And why go through all the hassle when you want to change just few things. You no more have to! I've made a GTK theme configuration tool that allows anyone to change some basic elements of a GTK theme easily (both GTK2 and GTK3) with a simple interface.GTK theme preferences - Customize GTK themes1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Customize selected background color
Customize Xfce panel, Gnome panel and Unity panel
Customize menu colors
This works for any theme (If doesn't work correctly with a theme, please report bug here https://github.com/satya164/gtk-theme-config/issues). You can revert all changes with just a click.
If you use Ubuntu, Linux Mint or any Ubuntu based distro, install the tool from the Shimmer Project PPA. It is available for both Precise and Quantal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:shimmerproject/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gtk-theme-config
