You'll see from my gallery here that I'm working to put together a portfolio of Star Wars art. It's fair to say that there's no shortage of incredibly talented Star Wars artists out there - so to try to make my work stand out I keep challenging myself to create drawings that I hope people will find interesting and original.

This one might seem a bit wacky - but Yoda is actually closely related to Kermit - so I've imagined a scene where Kermit steps up and confronts the Emperor!

Kermit doesn't have many facial expressions - so I thought it would be funny if the Emperor's force lightning didn't hurt Kermit - just tickled him a bit - so he could keep his usual wide-mouthed look. Even if it does hurt him a little - I'm sure Miss Piggy will show up soon to give the Emperor a piece of her mind and save her frog

I wanted to draw the Emperor's Royal Guard (aka Imperial Guard aka Red Guard) - but I didn't just want to have them standing motionless like they do in the movies. So I've put them in battle with Yoda as my take on the scene in Revenge of the Sith when Yoda confronts the Emperor.

In the movie Yoda uses the Force and dispenses with the guards with a simple shrug... but here's what it might have looked like if he'd had to work just a little harder to deal with them.

This is an entirely original depiction of George Lucas's characters. I drew this in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. This is an optimized version of the original - which is 600dpi.

I've always loved drawing Star Wars and have already posted some of my pictures:

Star Wars has been around a long time now - so I really don't get anything from seeing images that copy stills from the movies or don't add any originality. So I always try to paint something that you haven't seen before - and with this one I've attempted to mix the epic 'movie poster' look with the feel of a super-hero team cover.

I really went all-out with this piece and it took a very long time to complete. I painted it at a very high resolution (it's a 330mb PSD file) but I dramatically reduced it here to make it quicker to load.

Las Vegas is an amazing place - but it's missing one thing... a Star Wars themed resort! So here's my drawing of what some of the characters might look like if George Lucas ever decides to take Star Wars to Vegas.

This piece came about because I wanted to draw a US-flag themed Stormtrooper. I thought the only place where you might find such a gaudy costume would be somewhere like Las Vegas. This was just going to be a drawing of a 'Vegas-Trooper' - but I decided to add to the concept by also including some Star Wars showgirls.

I put a lot of time and effort into this one - but I think it's been worth it. It gave me a chance to show some creativity with the concept and the custom colour-scheme for the Stormtrooper. It also gave me the opportunity to show that I can paint a lot of different textures and effects.

This is an original drawing of George Lucas's characters - first drawn in pencil, then scanned and coloured in Photoshop. This is a much lower resolution version of the original - which is 600dpi.

The character of Boba Fett was first conceived as a kind of 'super' Stormtrooper - and initiallly had a white outfit. Even though the white armour never made it to the movie I thought that would be a cool look to draw.

What I've done here is mix elements of Jango Fett's Mandalorian outfit with a Clone Trooper armour in an attempt to come up with a plausible reason for the armour to be white.

For the purpose of this picture... Jango is testing out the standard clone armour - but insisted on wearing his own superior body suit and helmet to protect his vital organs. He knew that the clone armour was being mass-produced cheaply and he didn't want to get killed on account of a test! It's a stretch I know!

If you've got a better excuse for why he might be wearing a white outfit - let's hear it!

I like Star Wars - but Predator is another all-time classic sci-fi movie. So I thought it would be cool to merge both of those universes - and here's my depiction of a 'Sith Predator'.

Can you imagine the mayhem he could cause with his cloaking device, shoulder cannon and twin lightsabers mounted on his arm!

I've made some changes to the standard Predator costume - to make it more in-keeping with the look of the Star Wars universe - and if you look closely you might pick up some subtle design cues I adapted from notable Star Wars characters.

I've drawn this Predator with a mainly white skin colouring - although I added some black and grey blotches in stripes as I thought this would suggest a tiger-like pattern. I also thought that the Predator would look even more menacing with some red dreadlocks - instead of the usual black.

I took a look time over this - because I'd originally thought of drawing it in a movie-poster style - but I decided that it would be easier for the viewer to take in the concept with a less cluttered approach. I also tried a few different versions of the armour and colouring - but this is my favourite.

I have also drawn this Sith Predator wearing a redesigned Star-Wars-inspired helmet - and I'll probably post that at some point if I see that there's any interest in this character.

This is an entirely original illustration - taking inspiration from George Lucas's universe and Stan Winston's creature design - first drawn in pencil, then scanned and coloured in Photoshop using a Wacom pad.

Yesterday, I posted this:

Today's a new day - so here's an alternative version of my 'Sith Predator'... this time wearing his helmet!

I'd intended to use the helmet in the earlier image - but ended up drawing the Predator's face and was pleased with it - so left it. As you can see - basically I've just added the helmet on top of my other drawing - but I also ended up re-working the colour scheme because I wanted this to clearly stand out from the other version.

I haven't tried to do anything revolutionary with the helmet design - but instead I went for a subtle cross of the Predator helmet with elements of Darth Vader's - and I'm pretty pleased with the result!

As with the other version - this takes inspiration from George Lucas's universe and Stan Winston's creature design. The character (and the helmet) was first drawn in pencil, then scanned and coloured in Photoshop using a Wacom pad. This is a reduced resolution version of the original - which is 600dpi.

Here's my drawing of the baddies from the prequel trilogy of the Star Wars movies.

For this picture I started off with the idea of drawing a sister piece to my 'Empire' drawing:

... but I had to be selective when choosing which characters to use as I wanted this to be representative of the Clones from both the second and third movies - but that means, I necessarily had to leave some cool characters out.

This is an entirely original picture. First drawn freehand with pencil on paper, then scanned and coloured (over many, many hours) in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet.

Don't be afraid - no actual Stormtroopers were harmed in the making of this picture!

I was contacted by :iconlodgeboy: - who asked whether I'd be interested in drawing a picture for his Left 4 Dead 2 Mod which he's calling ZombieTroopers. He said it would be based on the book Deadtroopers and feature Boba Fett, Aurra Sing, IG-88 and Bossk - all battling some Zombie Stormtroopers in a destroyed city that looks like Corusant.
(Find out more at: [link] )

I liked the idea very much (I like drawing Stormtroopers - even if they are all ickey and bitey) - so I took the brief and turned out what you see here!

I originally drew this in pencil, then scanned it and coloured it in Photoshop using a Wacom tablet. This is a web-optimised version of the image (it is a 100mb bitmap at 600dpi!)

Hope you like it... and please don't have nightmares!

I saw some Marvel vs Star Wars ideas by :iconfurmanjon: - and after kicking myself for not thinking of the concept first - I decided to draw two of my favourite characters going head to head.

I picked The Punisher and Jango Fett because there are a lot of similarities between them. Neither character has super powers - instead they both rely on weapons and training. Also, they both owe a lot to characters played by Clint Eastwood: the concept for Jango is borne from Boba Fett - who draws from Spaghetti Western characters like Clint's 'Man With No Name' - while The Punisher owes a lot to the 'Dirty Harry' character.

I emphasised the similarities between the characters in my drawing by setting them in almost symmetrical poses. I've drawn The Punisher as a typical 'comic-book' character (inspired by Mike Zeck's work) - with an exaggerated physique - while Jango has more realistic proportions. I chose Cloud City as the battleground mainly just so that I could use a lot of warm orange highlights.

I'm not taking any bets on who'd win this one! :)

This was first drawn in pencil, then pen - before being scanned and coloured in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. The resolution here is much much reduced from the original.
