You know, there was a time when I wanted to change my name to ANYTHING other than SonicRocksMySocks. I thought it up when I was 15 without realizing I'd be saddled with that alias for potentially a lifetime.
When I started gaining renown on the internet, there was even a time where I considered making a new DeviantArt account JUST to change my username, but by then my reputation was already cemented. It's silly and childish and doesn't fit a 20-something artist who is trying to get serious about her art...
After working on my 8th DeviantArt anniversary flash and going back to my roots, it sort of dawned on me.
No other username fits me better.
Maybe I was embarrassed of it for a time, but now, after 8 years, there's no way in hell I'd ever be anybody else. My art is ABOUT childhood and youthful spirit, and that's what I remember when I think of my nickname. It reminds me of where I ca
Comics Class at UC BerkeleyComics Class at UC Berkeley3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hey! For those of you who are students at UC Berkeley this year, it's time to sign up for classes again!
My excellent roommate and friends will be teaching a comics class this semester I will not be teaching it myself (though I might visit from time to time to pester them lol). If you like storytelling and want to create comics with others, this is a place to start! People will work to create 3 comic projects through out the semester, both group and individual comics. These comics will be published online as they are finished.
My roommate helped teach this course spring last year, and it was a great way to get in the practice of drawing in a group, as well as for a deadline. It's also a great way to meet a lot of other people who love comics through the course. (I met my roommate through teaching a digital painting class 2 years ago XD ).
If you are a
Tracing in the ECOK, I promised myself that 2012 would be the year to get back into my art and try and find that motivation/inspiration that I used to have but before I do, there's a couple of things I need to get off my chest and who knows? Perhaps after talking about it, I'll be able to move on and take my art to the next level. I logged on to dA this morning to find several journals regarding tracing and I knew exactly who they were all directed at... I've spoken about this to a couple of people over the past few months and this will come as a shock to most of you, but there's something you need to know: I've traced.Tracing in the EC3 years ago in Personal More Like This
There you go, I've said it. Now before you stop reading and hit the "unwatch" button, please hear me out. Earlier last year, there were accusations going around that I traced my work. It was very low-key and although I was expecting a shitstorm of dArama to emerge, nothing ever came from it. The accusations were that I traced my work line-for-line and that I simply rotated/flippe

Those politicans are from Ruch Palikota party.
In Poland peoples protest, not only behind PC. Peoples go at streets and protest, loud and clear say that we don't want ACTA, yet goverment don't listen and signed ACTA anyway.
After signing ACTA protests don't stop, they become even bigger. Each day peoples gather and protest at streets.
That was mostly young peoples, but not only them - in crowd was everyone.
There was younger and older, peoples who fight for cross and peoples who was against them in past; there was really lot of different peoples who shared one target - to show that they now are against ACTA, to show that they fight for their rights.

We spent about two hours there with one of their story artists, Adrian Molina. *u* Although the first 30 minutes we just all sat and talked and ate delicious burritos underneath a gorgeous painting from Toy Story 3.
Then he looked at my portfolio, which he liked quite a bit. He said I was twice as good as he was at my age, but I ought to loosen up my figures. Then he looked at my sketchbook, which he was super impressed with. He said I should just make my portfolio look more like my sketchbook, and I'd be a shoe-in at CalARTs. xD So that was super cool! He's super nice and says to email him with his portfolios or any art or questions and he'll give me suggestions. c:
After lunch he showed us a little bit of the studio (although we weren't allowed anywhere with actual work going on, which was too bad). But I got to see TONS of concept work for Brave, which looks pretty cool! I can't really disclose any info about it obviously, but it definitely looks a little better a
Net Neutrality WarThis is a big issue and it’s very complex and confusing, so if I get anything wrong here, I am sorry I am doing the best I can with the available information I have. Drawing anatomy: how do you learn it?We all know that the human body is perhaps one of the most difficult things to handle properly when we draw. You know when you have that particular pose in your mind that "oh, would fit so well with that character!" but you can't simply make it look ok? T_TDrawing anatomy: how do you learn it?2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The main reason for asking you this is that, despite all the years I've been practicing with anatomy and body proportions, I just haven't found a proper and definitive method of learning yet. I struggle to make the bodies look right but eventually there's always something wrong in the shoulders, the hips, the balance... and, more than anything else, sometimes my characters are, like, frozen in stiff poses! I can feel it very often and this bugs me quite a lot!
What's your favourite method? Is there any particular way you follow to learn how to draw the human body (and this applies for anything else, of course)? Do you prefer to look at guidebooks or to copy someone else's artwork? Do you like to attend real-life classes or do

Here is a great movie explaining what it is http://vimeo.com/31100268
Gosh how much I hate this insanely crave of protecting everything someone makes. Sharing is not that bad. Besides lots of things got more popular after it got shared. >:C
I have no problem with people sharing or uploading stuff I make to other places aslong as they dont claim it as their own. Which very very veeeery rarely happens. And when it does, its not like I take an arrow to the knee and die( SORRY I HAD TO I HATE THAT MEME BUT I HAD TO XDDDD! Man I cant stay serious for more than a few mins )
Im just spreading the word now after reading about it myself.
Dat is all :'D

Thought it would've been good for me to take a mental break from it. It was stressing me out beyond belief. You all know I've been struggling with an art block for a good time now. And again I apologize for the lack of activity. But really, the more I tried to force myself to draw, the more difficult it became. I had gotten to the point to where I'd literally have a mental/emotional breakdown just from trying to sketch out something in my sketchbooks. Horrible. Simply awful.
You also know that I have mental illness. So that coupling the stress of trying to be productive was starting to get to me. I haven't enjoyed drawing in a very long time. Well, it's not that I haven't been enjoying it. I seem to have just, lost the meaning and reason as to WHY I do it. I've realized that the reasons I once had upon a time, the passions I had... they

"There's going to come a day when we've all grown up, had a career, maybe got married and had kids, when we're all going about our daily routine. Maybe you're driving to work with the car radio on, or you're making dinner with the tv on in the lounge. Life as usual, and then we hear a name. It's the name of the person you had a blog dedicated to when you were 16. The person you had posters of up on your bedroom wall, or as your desktop background. The person off that show you used to watch every week, as soon as it came out, or that band you used to love. The person from the cast of a movie that changed your life, or the character who you scrolled through page after page of fanfiction of. You haven't heard that name in a long time, and it brings everything back. And then the name is followed by three words you thought you'd never hear. Has Passed Away. And then you put down the potato peeler and lean back against your kitchen bench, or you pull over to the side
Justice League: The Flashpoint ParadoxOver the last few months I have been getting a lot of questions here on DA about what my next project would be and when it might be announced and released. Also, I am thrilled to say, that a lot of you awesome friends and fans have expressed the idea that following Young Justice, you would like to see more DC animation work from me. Well I am happy to reveal that the next project featuring my design work is the recently announced Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox, directed by the super talented Jay Oliva, and it will hit the streets on July 30th. I did the designs for this film last spring and summer (after production wrapped on YJ: Invasion) and we just finished post production on the project last month. I gotta say that thanks to all the tremendous talent involved in making this thing, it's looking pretty epic. I personally pushed my style into a slightly more exaggerated look for much of this film and I hope those of you who dug the look of Young Justice will get a kick out ofJustice League: The Flashpoint Paradox1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Is TMNT flop already? And what can we do about it?Reviews from critics are already coming in for the upcoming Michael Bay produced TMNT movie and... lo-and-behold... they’re pretty shit. Over on Rotten Tomatoes it’s already got a score of 38%.Is TMNT flop already? And what can we do about it?3 months ago in Personal More Like This
One of the prevailing themes of the new movie, apparently, is that everything is predestined. April was predestined to meet the turtles, and the turtles were predestined to become mutants. Everyone is connected to everyone else in ways that are flabbergastingly stupid. So much for random chance creating the turtles... Another theme is that this is more or less April O’ Neil’s movie. Not the ninja turtles. April is the main character. April is the focus of the film. The turtles are there, but they’re side characters in the same way the Autobots were side characters in the Transformers films.
The reason I’m bringing this up here now before the film is even out is because... well... I want it to fail. That’s a little selfish, I know, but I honestly don
