Over the years I have produced a range of tutorials on artistic use of the computer. Most of them concerns rather general concepts and can hopefully give something regardless of which program you are using or even be of some interest for traditional, non-digital artists. Some examples of my art can be found in the gallery.
That said, to get the most out of these you should know that I mainly use the open-source image manipulation program GIMP. I also work a lot with the painter program MyPaint. These are both very powerful programs capable of great artistic expression. Being open-source programs, they are both legally free to download and use without any cost. They exist for many platforms, including Linux, Mac and Windows, so they are worth trying out if you haven't already.
The tutorials listed below tend are (ver

He was an artist you might not know.
But you’ve met his children…
It’s rare that a “new” iconic monster is born and becomes forever identifiable,—— no matter the variations, by generation after generation. So it was when George Romero created the ultimate “zombie” in his Night of the Living Dead in 1968. Zombie Apocalypse fans today may have never heard of George or seen the original “Night,” but the zombies they so love in fare like The Walking Dead owe their existence to Romero’s original vision.

When in contemplation of the eternal wellspring that is the deviantART project and how it has become the engine keeping my heart and mind on a full burn as I strive to be an upstanding member of the community as well as a helpful architect and eager participant in the conversation -- my thoughts inevitably settle upon my attempts to define my concept of Gratitude.

Grow Up Gostei woke up crying from a very emotional dream. i was with my friend Krie and we were walking past old graffiti and i said "hey we should do some of that again, u want to?" and he said no, so i was flipping through some drawings and said "r u sure, what about all this" and he shook his head. then i was walking around, just sad at the whole thing, so i told him he was my best friend, he was giving me his old motorcycle so i started crying heavily. still tearing up as i write this. i kept remembering the phrase my teacher said "who ur friends with now, most likely wont be ur friends after high school." he didnt mean ppl fight, he meant ppl just move on and time keeps on going.Grow Up Goste2 years ago in Personal More Like This

First, I'll talk about what you've probably been seeing the most from me this year. Im currently re-building my portfolio with some much needed boosts. I've also stepped up my game a whole lot this year, and im not looking back. Probably the most prominent bit of everything is the Sketchbook Shoguns collective me the dude's have going. BIG stuff in store and planned with that. Stay tuned for sure.
The second thing i want to mention, but im not going to delve into too much. Is my personal project SHE: Gōmon-sha. It's still in its pre-dev stages. But i've been going on it HARD CORE. Or at least harder than i have on anything in the past. Expect to hear more as it develops.

This weekend I painted a large mural in Chinatown!I love painting large and it is always an honor to be asked by a wonderful organization to paint at their space and represent their community visually. This week I was asked to paint a piece in Oakland Chinatown at Lincoln Square. An amazing community center the has droves of smiling people enjoying the giant ship like playgrounds, the expansive b-ball courts, and sword fighting in the lawn bowling court, to name a few. The ages ranges from 1 to 100+ and all the folks were super stoked to see this painting in process. My good friend Christopher Mackessy, ( who took most of the photos for the deviantART Gear Shop,) is also a painter, As well as a teacher. He procured the walls through the community center with the blessings and we spent the last 2 days painting. Many of his students came out and we fitted them with brushes and oversized tee shirts and they went to town with our instruction. With the help of these smiling pint sized 8 year old Picassos we crushed it with a mixtureThis weekend I painted a large mural in Chinatown!3 years ago in Art Features More Like This

What name do you go under, and what are it's origins?
The name i go under is Zen (Zener in piecing) mainly... i got given the name by a friend of mine who writes Beta, he gave it me because he though i was one of the most chilled out and relaxed people he knew...
What form of street art do you make?
I make Big legal productions with my crew HTB, we're based around liverpool and the north west of england but we travel all over the country to our linsk with other artists such as the NTR crew from stoke, Insektr from sheffield and Migs from leeds.
How would you describe you particular style of graffiti?
I would like to consider the pieces i paint as wildstyle, even the guys i write with, when i step back and ask them about a particular letter in the piece they just tend to respond with "sorry

-No uses la voz de un actor, personaje de anime, etc, tambien seria robo de voz, y no queremos meter en problemas al la creadora del programa AMEYA/AYAME

What is it about a fictional character first introduced to the public in Great Britain in 1887 that has kept him being reincarnated, with generationally-correct upgrades, over and over again in film and on television? Who is this literary hero whose portrayal over the past century by such past masters as Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett to today’s vanguard talents Robert Downey, Jr. and Benedict Cumberbatch has inspired such a continuing outpouring of fan appreciation?

Infinitum Preview 1It's here: http://sdrv.ms/15m1nI5Infinitum Preview 12 years ago in Personal More Like This
Keep in mind this is a preview and not everything works!
If you are using Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, you can use infinitum as it is. However, if you are using Windows 8, you will need to create a toolbar on your taskbar to make space for the start button (see here for example: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-enable-good-old-start-button-orb-and-start-menu-in-windows-8/ ). Windows XP should use a theme with a larger taskbar (here's a good theme: http://fav.me/d5bocyw ).
If you cannot run this application, make sure you have .net 4.0 or higher installed on your computer.
I will try to make Infinitum more flexible in the next release as well as get more things to work

I also had a lot of people asking me "How much should I charge for my work?"
I'll add a Disclaimer right here in front, as for whatever reason, something always offends someone :iconstunplz: . So I'll start off by saying, this is just my personal journal, and I'm just one person who has some experience with this. I'm not making a judgment on who should sell what, just writing some things I have personally learned along the way.
Well that's out of the way :iconyodawgplz:
So most artists starting off go through a period of confusion on how to price work. They get a lot of suggestions, or theories from well-meaning people such as:
"Artists always undervalue themselves. Don't charge less than minimum wage per hour"
This is true, and I agree. However, unfortunately,

Ok. Now i know what you are all going to chop this up to, so i'll just say it now. I'm not getting old, this world is getting dumber.
This new generation is basically ass leakage brewed in a rusty coffee maker with no cream and too much sugar. I'll start with music, since its probably where the common ground is for most of my supporters of this topic. What the fuck!? How is ANY. ANY OF THIS SHIT!! Considered to be good music? I grant that most of what i listen to my elders dont find too appealing. But at least it can be defined in a genre. When a song starts off with a bunch of whiny singing, continues with a techno beat, and ends with a rap verse. WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU CALL THAT!? The most confused person on the face of this earth! Dub-Step is whatever to me, seeing how its mainly DnB meets Industrial Techno. Not bad. Until you start classifying it as "ground breaking". All this SWAG and YOLO shit has to stop though.
