Stratiform 4.0 Alpha 1SURPRIIIISE!Stratiform 4.0 Alpha 14 months ago in Personal More Like This
SoapyHamHocks and I started working on Stratiform 4.0 a fair while back but we hit many setbacks including time availability and personal stuff. That plus this is essentially a complete rewrite of Stratiform in every sense.
Check out the screenshots to get a feel for the new UI and options. This new version works quite a bit differently to what you've used in the past but it is much more flexible and just a better platform for us to develop from. It's safe to say there's nothing out there quite like this add-on right now.

Firefox 29.0+ is required (currently in beta). Please note that this release is a very buggy alpha release. We are on
[MacType] New font smoother for windowsHeya folks,[MacType] New font smoother for windows3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I don't know about you, but I was always sick of the default windows font rendering, that's why I used GDI++ with Windows XP and GDIpp with Win7, until a few months ago GDIpp worked great, but then there where a lot of compatibility issues (Google Chrome/Firefox).
Now I found this http://www.mediafire.com/?8cnc6v7z7w4e647 on a chinese board http://bbs.themex.net/forumdisplay.php?f=88 (yeah yeah yeah, at least with google translate I could read something )
Works awesome and you can switch language, still a pretty shitty translation, but great tools to create configs and it runs as a service.
Check it out
PS: added a screenshot http://dl.dropbox.com/u/70350/screens/201112190832.jpg
there is a new google code site available with a new installer http://code.google.com/p/mactype/
PSS: the update fixed some issues with chrome/firefox
How correctly install GDIPPHi, i receive a lot of messages by people who want install GDIPP( cause GDI++ is crappy!!), so here is the good way:How correctly install GDIPP3 years ago in Personal More Like This
➊ Install GDIPP 0.7.6 in Registry( not in services, you will see it during the installation) , download: http://code.google.com/p/gdipp/downloads/list
➋ Copy the 2dll's in "C:\Program Files\gdipp" to "C:\Windows\system32"( for 64 users: 4 dll's: "sytem32"( for 64 bit dll's)+"syswow64"( for 32 bit dll's) ), like: http://img11.hostingpics.net/pics/423903436372Capture.png
➌ Restart( done)
Edit ( 12 oct 2012):
Now, i use 0.9.1 version, it works better and no replacement of dll needed ( only install it and go..!), if you use Firefox or other: uncheck "material acceleration..." in Firefox ( or other) options!!
If some characters look a little craps in some applications: make an exeption in "C:\Program Files (x86)\gdipp\gdipp_setting.xml" with your notepad.

Some sad news...I just recently found out about a brony fic author who passed away back in May. :iconAce2401: From what I can tell, everything lines up and it's not a joke. It hurts, I've read a couple of his works, mainly the silent Ponyville stuff. I pray that his family will stay strong, and that he is in a better place. He seemed to be struggling with the last few weeks, if not months of his life. That is very rough. It makes you sit down, look to see what is around you. To be grateful for what you do, and don't have. Grateful for a roof over your head. A bed to sleep in at night. Even good health. There are far worse things we could have, diseases and illnesses. I've spent a lot of time thinking about those things. On my fathers side of the family, there has been a deadly desiese that has taken my fathers father, his sister, and soon his brother, called Huntingtons Disease. It's a very nasty thing, what it does to you both physically and mentally. The good news is since my father is in the clear,Some sad news...2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Litestep on Windows 7 (UPDATED)UPDATE: this tutorial has gotten a lot of attention since i posted it 2 years ago.. so i decided to update the information, add information and even a nice video tutorial by andredk which is a little long, but very detailed. i updated the old journal and submitted a new one for good measureLitestep on Windows 7 (UPDATED)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
installing litestep is not a big deal. it has dependencies like any other application, and without them it will error. assuming your system meets all the requirements right now you can stop reading this and install litestep using the Omar Installer. (omar is the guy who created the installer) litestep was built using the x86 architecture so a x86 system is a prerequisite, however people have managed to install and use litestep on x64 systems.

With the vast amount of artwork on deviantART, it can be easy to miss something, and it's common for artwork to get a spike of traffic long after it was originally submitted. Our new “What’s Hot” browse mode surfaces artwork that’s receiving a recent increase in exposure, regardless of when it was submitted.

New deviantART ThumbnailsIn the weekly Site Updates, we've been telling you all about the changes that have been launched to deviantART, getting your feedback, and reporting all the bugs that have been fixed.New deviantART Thumbnails2 years ago in DeviantART Announcements More Like This
This change is a little different, since it involves a feature that has been in place for a long time. We think it deserves an announcement of its own, ahead of time.
The current deviantART thumbnails (the smaller versions of deviations) have served the community well for years; however, there's always room for improvement.
Some of the problems with existing thumbnails are: they leave a lot of blank space around them, there isn't a lot of room for text for literature deviations, and the thumbnails don't present very tall/wide images well.
The New Thumbnails
Now, we've created a new style of thumbnail, which hopes to solve a lot of these problems.
We've made all thumbnails bigger! We're showing them in tidier row

Hello everyone, hope you're well.
My sporadic / non-existent DA presence has been due to an addiction that I have suffered through, since early last year. I'd promised myself I'd never get involved in it, but then I moved away from home, and circumstances were different.
I started using Facebook.
Yah, I promised I'd never do it, and then I went and done it.
Aside from a brand new social media addiction, I've been neck deep in book covers, and making some noise in the Horror Literature scene - good times. I'm now focusing FULL TIME on SurrealPSD, which will be my main focus for 2014..
What's that mean?? New content every week, and lots of it. As a little bit of a retrospective, here's a look at what we've done so far. It's a great site, and I'm, very proud of it. I look forward to reintegrating into DA - I hope you're all good, and that everyone isn't still arguing about 'copying' each others work and attacking little kids for copyright

Editing Rainmeter skins the nice wayEditing and creating Rainmeter skins can be a daunting task. You have to remember the names of lots of options and what values you can assign to them, you have to keep track of your variables, possibly distributed over multiple files, and between all that you have to make sure you get the syntax right. If you have been using the standard Windows Notepad to edit your skin files, it was probably a painful experience.Editing Rainmeter skins the nice way6 months ago in Personal More Like This
It does not have to be like this! There is a lot a good editor can do to make editing skins easier, so you can spend more time thinking about what your measures and meters should do, and less time thinking about wether it is called ValueReminder or ValueRemainder. In my opinion, Sublime Text 2 (www.sublimetext.com/ ) does the best job of this. It is a commercial editor that costs $70 but can be evaluated free of charge for an unlimited amount of time. The only drawback of

my 2 cents on name changeits an awesome option, so thank you DA for thatmy 2 cents on name change2 years ago in Personal More Like This
however, if you have created a reputation on your on-going name, and this is particular important for those of you who are looking forward to create a bigger fan-base, think carefully before you change your name.
i dont speak for everyone, but i know that when i look at comments, my order of reading is this, their icon and then their name
theres been a couple of times that i failed to recognize a friend's comment because they changed their icon, so even the icon is a big deal if you are trying to make a name for yourself, its really like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.
now if you change both your name and icon, its a pretty damn risky thing. I know DA sends your watcher a notice about name change, but you also have to know that there are lazy bastards like me who would fail to see those things when i'm distracted.
if you have created a name on the internet as, for example:"emerald-dragon" on DA, and people from

I've been asked to write a tutorial on skinning foobar2000, because many f2k users encounter difficulties modifying skins or simply using them. I'm not an expert on the subject, I've started by installing a few skins and trying to understand how that worked ; I still think it's the best way to get a good handle on it, though a long and sometimes frustrating way. I invite you to try and see by yourself, to keep in mind that errors come all along and to share any advice, question, difficulty or anything you want to say, may you be new or expert. I also recommend to read this good tutorial (though it's partly based on outdated PanelsUI), maybe this less developed one, some of the very useful Hydr

-The music video is still unfinished, but it's around 2/3 done now. There are no deadlines for this project, since I'm out of school now.
-I become almost inactive over on Somnova Studios, but I will be back once I become less booked.
-Just a few more animations to do for the Kontrabida team, and I'll be done with the current batch.
-deIz 1.5 is still cancelled.
-Draw with Me prequel/sequel is far from finalized, story-wise.
-iOS game is still abandoned, especially that I have no iPod Touch anymore.
-Bank account is still looking unappealing. But it's slowly getting pretty.
And that's all...
Exciting news are exciting.
Tutorial Showcase #11DeviantART is a great place to find not only art but also some awesome tutorials. It doesn't matter if you are interested in photo manipulation or writing, usually there is a tutorial for that. But at the same time there are so many great tutorials outside of deviantART and most deviantART users might never find them unless someone shows these tutorials to them. So I'm happy to introduce you a new journal series called "Tutorial Showcase" which features some awesome tutorials outside of deviantART. System is pretty simple. Every showcase journal showcases five tutorials from a specific category and this category changes with every new journal. There's no special placement, all of them are equal. So here we go!Tutorial Showcase #111 year ago in Art Features More Like This
