The Doctor stands in the mirror of the TARDIS wardrobe as turbulence is hit and the cloister bell sounds. Adorned in new clothes instead of the one his previous incarnation wore, he runs from the room to the main control room. The Doctor approaches the console. He checks for a status report on the TARDIS screen.
Doctor: Weapon systems down, a few rooms jettisoned... I'd prefer it that way. I think this old death trap needs a recharge.
The TARDIS emergency materializes on grassy mountain cliff. The Doctor steps out of the sliding TARDIS door and looks out upon the city scape before him. He licks the tip of his finger, and sticks it in the ai

I was only stranger here,
trying to rebuild my home,
looking for some peaceful place
in this broken world;
never thought I'll find you here
on the ruins of my past
asking for my helping hand
with the smile on your face.
Just tell me what you're hiding
behind your words and eyes.
Will you be my friend or rival?
Will you fight by my side?
Will you grant me sanctuary
of your opened heart,
or will you add the poison
to my glass of wine?
In the dust of Kirkwall's streets
I'll find my destination,
I'll find my joy and sadness,
glory and humiliation.
So, when you see me there
in the middle of some struggle,
just don't hesitate
and give me your han

Coming CleanDakota moved in the cold darkness, shuffling across the Observation Deck with her fish-blanket safely draped across her shoulders. The plush microfiber glided just above the ground and hugged her legs, snapping static at her ankles with each footfall.Coming Clean1 year ago in Sketches More Like This
Her ears perked to the sound of quiet breaths in the corner; she froze in the middle of the room and scanned her surroundings, turning her head from side to side. There wasn’t enough light to see anything properly, but the faint noise was coming from the darkest part of the deck—the one farthest from the window.
Slow, deep, even—Kaidan was asleep.
The nervous commander wrung the ends of her blanket around her shoulders in a bony fist in a feeble attempt to find solace and exhaled sharply, snagging her lip on an incisor. Hunching forward, she bundled up tighter in her fish and locked her knees, curling her toes in the cold floor.
She’d originally come down to talk to him and tell him that she was sorry for being

Dakota wandered around to the back of the Normandy with quivering limbs. She did her best to still and hide the tremors, but the last of the adrenaline was wearing away and making it increasingly difficult. She was waiting for Dr. Chakwas’ meds to take effect and though it probably would have been best to calm down in private, she didn’t want to be alone.
The lack of stimulation in her quarters would have left her helpless before the merciless jaws of her mind—the fear would come back to swallow her whole. She needed sound and movement to cope. She needed to run in order to chase away the ghosts that still lingered in the back of her brain.
My squad…
Unfortunately, her ship was too small to go free-running, and if she started pacing, someone was bound to notice. Then…then they’d know.
They’d know she was crazy. Unfit to lead, to serve, to even exist…

I stood staring at the place Kasumi had disappeared. Was she even listening when I said I was leading this mission?
I faced Kaidan, trying to keep a look of indifference despite the emotional ache I felt. "I'm headed to Hock's quarters. If you still want to talk, come along. Otherwise, good luck. Stay safe." With a lump in my throat, I began walking away.
Why do I feel so defensive when I'm around him?&

Description: This is an old short story I wrote in college and re-tooled a couple of times. I tried to get the original version published in the annual literary circle magazine back then, but it had massive grammar (among other) flaws at the time, so I'm glad I didn't make the cut. Besides, it was clearly too fantasy genre for what they were doing that year. I swear I've posted it on LJ before, but gods know where it got to, and it's been a very long time. Oddly enough, it's a story that I still like how it came

The gentle hum of the engines always finds a way to calm me down. Maybe it has something to do with my childhood, who knows? I feel like a child now, huddling in an air vent as close to the engine as I can get. My crew would laugh at me if they saw this. Me, Commander Shepard, once dead and twice removed, lying in an air vent on her own ship. I don't think any of them would pay much attention though, not with what they're all going through.
We could die. We probably will die. And I... Would die again. But this time it will be on my own terms. This time I'll have a bullet through my head rather than have my insides

Nowhere to Go But Forward - Questions"To fire, set the firing solution to the coordinates of your desired target, keeping in mind of the trajectory of the ammunition and the average velocity of the wind, calculated with the planet's gravitational and centrifugal force aw hell, this makes no sense." Shepard furiously ruffled her hair, puffing the messed up strands out of her face with an exasperated breath, "Why can't it just say 'Aim and hit the pretty red button'?" She tossed the firing manual aside.Nowhere to Go But Forward - Questions1 year ago in Short Stories More Like This

Dakota Shepard had only been there three times before, and each time the planet had catapulted her well beyond her limits of physical and psychological endurance. It had been a violent struggle each time she’d put a foot down into the dirt; it had been a hard fight for survival every time she’d drawn a lungful of the air.
The first time she’d gone to Tuchanka, she’d faced her greatest fears and blew them to bits with a dear friend and a rocket launcher.
The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end as the hollow roars of the thresher maw rang in her ears.
She stumbled into her cabin and wiggled out of her armor, the bitter tang of radioactive Tuchankan s

"So this is the Normandy? I've got to admit, it's one of the more impressive vessels I've boarded."
I turned to the newest member of my crew, Kasumi Goto, a thief so legendary that few know of her. We needed her on our side, according to Cerberus at least. Before she could give me her undivided loyalty, she had a favor to ask of me. How could I refuse? I was anxious to see her skills put to the test, so I had

I can see my breath when I breathe.
I stop and stare into a store window.
I imagine having the beautiful necklace,

I continue walking,
In search of what I'm looking for.
I keep my head down,
staring at the ground below me.
I sense something closing in,
But I pay no attention to it.
I feel the sudden pressure
On my arm
As if I ran into something.
I fall to the ground.
I look up and apologize
To the gentle man I ran into.
He extends his arm out
As if wanting to pick me up.
I grab his hand
As he lifts me to my feet.
I thank him for his kindness.
He looks into my eyes,

"I know it's not a big, fancy mansion like Asami's, but you guys are more than welcome to stay here as long as you need," Korra said, Bolin walking by her side as she gave him a tour of Air Temple Island.
The previous nights events had worn them all out. Korra couldn't help but feel terrible about everything that had happened; especially for Asami. They were all shocked. Mr. Sato was the last person they had suspected to be one of Amon's followers, let alone the manufacturer of the equipment for the equalists.
Bolin smiled, "Really, Korra, this place is great! I can't thank you enough for everything you've done for us."
