Luna's Socks - Deluxe Edition
Starring Twilight Sparkle and Princesses Celestia and Luna
Written in collaboration between Butterscotch Sundae and Foxxy Hooves
It had been many many pony generations since the clacking and clattering of young hooves had regularly enlivened the halls of Canterlot Castle, and Princess Celestia knew it. Even in the best of times there was more arthritic creakings of limbs from stiff and stiffening old diplomats and dignitaries than ponies at play, and sometimes she wondered if the life were going out of the old place.
But now the hammer and nails had come out and the constant buzz and flutter of pegasuses around the old south tower had stirred in the Princess memories of livelier days of fun and play in the wide marble halls, and that is how an invitation made its way from her study to the Ponyville Publick Library. The Princess had spent many weeks anticipating her student's arrival and the evening finally came late on
Luna's Best Night Ever: 3Luna pulled the last of the confetti from her mane and tail. She sighed and tossed it over the side of the chariot, watching the colorful paper drift away. Celestia had given her a proper sending off, complete with banners saying things like "Do your best!" and "Go, Luna, go!" Luna wondered whether her sister was using her pranks and outrageousness as a coping mechanism or a punishment. Possibly both, she mused, a hoof resting on the suitcase where her own coping mechanism lay. She had insisted that Abby's suitcase remain by her side for the duration of the trip and managed to keep even Celly from seeing inside it.Luna's Best Night Ever: 34 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
It was somewhat saddening to think about for too long at once and Luna attempted to distract herself with mental games. She counted the clouds and imagined what object their shapes represented. Surely there was an artist among the weather patrol, because each fluffy lump of white was carefully sculpted into a delicate floral arrangement. The trails of vapor connecting each o

Trixie found the days passed by quickly and peacefully from there. She began to develop a routine. By the time she awoke Fluttershy was making breakfast, typically oatmeal, a warm and filing meal that started the day right. Trixie would take her mornings easy, still recuperating. She had gotten her books back from Twilight, and would review them, often in the garden if the weather held. She would then usually accompany Fluttershy into town in the afternoon, having lunch with her or just taking the chance to stretch her legs. She began to fill out little by little, her coat gleamed once more, and she regained her former energy. Only one thing stood between her and true health. That was why, nearly a week since her first visit, Trixie found herself in the Ponyville library again, Twilight Sparkle staring at her.
"Absolutely no magic?"
"None at all." Trixie shook her head. Twilight frowned.
"What happens if you try?"
Trixie shuddered. "Nausea. Trixie would rather leave it at tha
Teamwork is Magic: Chapter 2"So lemme get this here straight" The man said, still a little dazed from his discovery. It had been about ten minutes, and Twilight had convinced the man, Who didn't give his name and said to just call him Engineer, to sit down and listen to their story. "Right, and y'all with the horns can do magic?"
"Okay, and you two" He pointed at Trixie and Twilight "somehow messed up and transported everyone here, to my world"
"Precisely! So you do understand!"
"Not in the slightest, but I think the jist is that y'all need to find a way home?"
"... Well, as long as you realize that part, I suppose it's all okay"
A bright light flashed in the small room. "Well, looks like someone's respawning. I get to see if all this work finally drove me crazy or if I really am seein' talkin' ponies"
From the room a giant of a man lumbered out, looking fuming mad and muttering what sounded like Russian swear words under hi
RCFS Part 2Rainbow Dash had escorted Luna home that night so that Luna would be able to get some sleep before her next lesson. Luna hadn't slept much at all though because she was too busy wondering what pink pie would taste like. Perhaps it was some sort of fruity flavor. Luna placed Abby upon her bookshelf. She didn't know what she was in for today and after last night she worried that she might break her dear friend so today Abby stayed home.RCFS Part 24 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Luna made her way through Ponyville that afternoon with her saddle bag stuffed full of bandages and various other first aid. A pony could never be too careful, especially when the circumstances were unknown. Luna had also decided that day to strip herself of her princess decor and opted instead for a purple cloak. She didn't want to feel too out of place. She also didn't want to make other ponies feel uncomfortable hence the normal sort of clothing that she chose if you could call a cloak mid day normal.
Ponyville was busy as ever as ponies were rushing a
Teamwork is Magic: Chapter 3Dash grabbed the freshly-modded scattergun, specifically made for hooves instead of hands. Engi had made special weapons for all of them, capping it off by modding the regenerator so that the ponies could respawn. He even modded some of the clothes to fit the equines. Everyone stood around, firing their weapons to get a feel. Once they were ready, one by one they ran out the door.Teamwork is Magic: Chapter 34 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Of Course, Dash was out first, flying over the bridge, past the enemy respawn, and down their spiral.
"I'll just run in, grab the intel, and run out. Easy" She peeked in, and the sight that greeted her was not a good one: A level three sentry pointed directly at her. She screamed and ducked behind the corner as the rockets missed by inches. "Okay, maybe not so easy. At least no Engi's were around. That would have been embarrassing"
"HI DASH!" Pinkie yelled right behind her. She jumped backwards, back into the sentry's sight.
"PINKIE! wait..." She looked around as the sentry beeped to confirm her pr
Luna's Best Night Ever: 7The front door was locked and Luna felt awkward standing there in the long silence between knocking and Twilight finally opening the door. Luna ached all over and smelled vaguely of sweat, blood and dirt. She could still feel the chill along her horn from the black fire, and although she supposed it was keeping a splitting headache from forming it was uncomfortable in its own way. She smoothed out her mane and tail as best she could and was in the process of wiping her horn down a second time when the handle turned.Luna's Best Night Ever: 74 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"Welcome back, Luna."
Twilight was absolutely beaming and Luna momentarily forgot where her hoof was rubbing until Twilight's cheeks began to turn pink, then light red. Luna's face lit up scarlet as she released her horn and her hoof made an audible thud as it struck the ground. Both of them attempted smiles that did little to make the situation any less embarrassing for either of them. The silence dragged on and Twilight gave a small cough. Luna faltered for a moment befor

but still nothing happened.
I don't remember how long I lay there, slumped in the chair, face down, tears dripping onto the wooden top of the dresser. I think I must have cried myself asleep for the next thing I knew I could hear a most peculiar noise.
It sounded like someone eating quickly and messily.
"Om nom nom nom nom nom!"
Wait I was dreaming, right? I still had my eyes closed, so it could be a dream one of those drunk, overheated, feverish dreams I often had after a few too many drinks. But then I felt something nuzzling the side of my face something soft and furry, with warm, moist breath that smelled of vanilla and... hot-sauce?
I opened my right eye a crack and I couldn't see anything but a great patch of colour and I suddenly panicked, thinking I must

Twilight was still lying on the floor of the library, but Dash and Pinkie were no longer beside her and Zecora and the others were nowhere to be seen. She stood up and as she did she noticed that sunlight was streaming in through the windows. She opened the door to the library and looked outside. It was a beautiful sunny day. A light breeze ruffled her mane, while above her fluffy white clouds floated serenely against the blue vault of a summer sky.
"Is... is this really a dream?" she wondered. But it all seemed so real! Twilight didn't know what she'd been expecting gloomy forests, twisted buildings, labyrinthine streets filled with grotesque illusions maybe?
She was about to go outside when she stepped on something lying on the floor. It was an envelope! She floated it up for a closer look.
To Twilight Sparkle! From your bestest friend forever, Pinkie Pie!<
Luna's Best Night Ever 10 Part 1Celestia giggled to herself as she lowered the last doll into place and tied a rope around it, attaching the other end to the large metal spring. With a flick of her horn she levitated pigments from their pots and gave the blank face the scariest expression she could think of. It ended up somewhere between terrifying and shocking, and she smiled as she examined her work. Silver Verve would be coming back any minute now, and when his hooves caught the thin tripwire in the doorway it would spring the trap, locking him in a wicker cage and dangling the hoof-crafted horrors over him.Luna's Best Night Ever 10 Part 14 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Celestia smirked. It would serve him right for the stunt he pulled with the mane gel. Addressing the court at Canterlot with an afro was anything but dignified, especially when everypony was too intimidated to mention it. She wondered if Luna had put him up to it, or if he simply felt inclined to continue the prank war on her behalf while she was away.
The sound of hoofsteps from the hallway caught her attenti

The next morning, Fluttershy and Trixie shared a breakfast of oatmeal again. Trixie found it easier to get around and ate almost an entire bowlful. She realized most of her original wounds were healing nicely, and while her side was tender it wasn't painful to move, usually.
"The others will want to know you're up." Fluttershy said. Trixie glanced down at the floor.
"Will they really care?"
"They're my friends too." Fluttershy responded. Trixie nodded, understanding what she meant.
"Shall we... go out?" Trixie asked. Fluttershy paused.
"Are you...are you sure? They could come..."
"Trixie has healed excellently under such adept care." she smiled at Fluttershy, who blushed slightly in response. "Besides," Trixie said softly, "she promises not to exert herself. She doesn't want to spend a single day more bedridden."
"Okay. A day out would be...nice." Fluttershy smiled. Trixie nodded and waited as Fluttershy cleaned up breakfast. They made their way to the door. That same rabbit

Together Pinkie and I hurried over the surface of the moon towards Luna's castle, the glittering golden sand puffing up with each step we took. We soon left the field of polished black glass behind us, but even so, the castle still seemed an awfully long distance away.
"I thought Princess Luna wasn't on the moon anymore," I said. "Did something happen between her and Princess Celestia again?"
"Oh, Princess Luna doesn't have to stay here, silly!" laughed Pinkie. "She just feels more comfy here than in Equestria." She brought her mouth close to my ear and whispered conspiratorially. "Just between you and me I think she's still a teeny bit embarrassed about that whole 'Nightmare Moon' thing!" When Pinkie said 'Nightmare Moon' her eyes went wide and her face was lit from below like that of an actor in a B-grade horror movie

Trixie made her way down the stairs unsteadily the next morning, feeling rested but hungry. She realized as she walked down that she was being watched. Looking around, she found a white rabbit standing on a small end table, glaring at her. It made her feel unwelcome, but Trixie just glared back at it.
"Do not mess with Trixie, rabbit, or she may make you part of her next routine."
The rabbit did not look amused. A noise distracted her, and Trixie looked up to realize the birdhouses hanging from the ceiling were occupied, small sparrows talking to one another from their houses.
"What kind of house is this?" Trixie just stared on. Another bird emerged from a larger house. It was a robin that began to whistle a tune. To Trixie's surprise, a silky voice sang back, wordlessly, in perfect key.
"Good morning- oh, Trixie!" Fluttershy entered the room from the kitchen. Trixie realized she had a light blush on her face and immediately scolded herself. Why was she blushing?

Smokey trudged through the snowy paths of Ponyville, occasionally tossing a friendly toothy grin as a few ponies he passed by. If only he hadn’t shown his gleaming white fangs in his grin, maybe he wouldn’t have been retaliated by such responding looks of fear. Though he was long used to such responses, a hope that had been long dead--a hope that out there were ponies who would accept him despite his draconic appearance--a hope that had been rekindled by Fluttershy.
Of course there existed ponies who would accept Smokey as a friend in a heartbeat. He had misfortune to thank for following him in his early years to the present. Misfortune guided him to the wrong ponies at the wrong times, crushing all hope of acceptance out of the winged reptile. Now, it didn’t matter if any more ponies accepted him. Fluttershy and Chenoa--along with his own animal friends--was all he needed and all the fortune he was going to ask for

"Toniiiiight I'm gonna have myseeeellffff a real good time..." The blue pegasus punctuated the first lyric of his favorite song by doing a double barrel roll, pulling it off effortlessly as he sped from Canterlot. Soarin' had a reason to be excited. For weeks he had been trying to make time for this trip, but the air shows, celebrity appearances, and the endless practice sessions meant to keep his skills sharp had sucked up every second of time. By the time a typical Wonderbolt day was over, he was too exhausted to do anything but grab a little supper, followed by a post-supper snack, followed by a post-post-supper snack snack. Most nights he went straight to bed after this, completely missing out on his super-late just-before-bed snack, which rated as one of his top three favorite snacks during the day, after post-breakfast and mid-noon, of course.
But ever since that fateful night weeks ago, when Canterlot Castle was thrown into a chaos he had never seen before, he had been haunted b

"My apologies, again." Luna said, in all sincerity. "I'll be pulling an all-dayer at this rate, with my night ahead of me!"
"No, no, if I go back to the palace before the sun has set I know my sister will find time to ask me what's wrong, why didn't I enjoy myself... she tries so hard, but I wish she wouldn't sound so much like mother used to." Luna ended with a huff. "Though to be honest I've spent more time amongst ponies today than... well, for significantly more than a thousand years, I'll tell you. I wasn't expecting this bustle, it's enough to wear on one's patience."
"But, what if we went back to Ponyville? It's so much quieter there, and, couldn't you explore there?" Fluttershy offered. Lun

"I promised I'd try my best, Luna. It simply isn't going to happen; it's out of my hooves."
"Bah, I should've known." The princess of the moon sulked, staring at her teacup. Across the table from her, her older sister sighed and sipped her tea before continuing. These mornings didn't give them a lot of time to bond, and she felt all the worse when they spent that time fighting. At least alone as they were in Celestia's study Luna could be convinced to speak candidly.
"It's not that I don't want to spend more time with you, you know that." Celestia said gently. Her little sister was having none of it, and she looked up from her tea with a glare.
"It's just that you've got more important things to get to than your own sister." her words were sharp, but Celestia didn't cringe.
"Now Luna, that isn't fair. I think you're overreacting."
"Oh yes, we wouldn't want that to happen." Luna replied, rolling her eyes.
Celestia kept her expression calm. On the inside howeve

Trixie awoke slowly, feeling an odd peace about her that she hadn't felt in a long, long time. Her entire body tingled pleasantly, her muscles were entirely relaxed, and she found a smile on her face. She stretched a little and opened her eyes.
Almost immediately her mood fouled. There was less light than last time, but she could still make out the same yellow ceiling as before. She quickly remembered where she was and why. That pegasus, she had... tricked Trixie. Tricked her into accepting food and aid, Trixie realized. She wasn't sure what exactly the pegasus had done wrong. But the indignity of it infuriated her.
Trixie looked herself over and gasped slightly. Her body was more bandages than not, her legs entirely covered and several pads held to her sides with medical tape. She realized her muscles were relaxed thank to several damp clothes placed around her shoulders and hips. She shook them off and immediately regretted it, yelping as her bandages rubbed and made her aw

With the largest pot Smokey possessed filled with broth, sliced vegetables, and herbs simmering upon the wood burning stove set on low heat, he prepared meals for his animals. The dragon opened the left cabinet door to the storage space built in under the counter and reached in to retrieve one of two industrial-sized bags. One was filled with bird seed, the other had grass pellets. The clawed hand grasped onto the rolled up top of the seed feed first.
As the crinkling sounds of the bag's material reached the ear holes and registered themselves into the brains of all five doves, they immediately took to the air and gathered at the table, disturbing the rabbit. "It's so awesome that you guys could all come!" she said, grinning at her friends. Then she bowed to Celestia and Luna, saying "Spitfire sends her apologies, Your Highnesses - she's still not happy with some of the choreography and she wants to fit in as much rehearsal as possible before tonight."
Celestia smiled. "It sounds as if you have a wonderful show prepared for us tonight."
Rainbow nodded enthusiastically, but then frowned suddenly. "I just hope everything goes according to plan " and nopony screws anything up! A vision of a certain blonde-maned Pegasus pony with quizzical eyes appeared before her and she resisted groaning out loud.

"Wake up, Pinkie Pie!" Dash sobbed. Her head lay on the little earth pony's unmoving chest, tears streaming from her eyes and soaking her pink coat. "I love you. I love you!"
Outside the black storm raged unabated, the shrieking winds whipping around the Library, the great tree creaking and groaning as if it would splinter apart at any moment, the rain pouring against the windows as if they were trapped in the course of a surging torrent. But none of the ponies inside could hear any of it: all they could hear was the soft sobbing of their friend, and her desperate, unanswered prayers. They all watched, heartbroken, in silence except for the soft weeping of Spike, whose face was still buried in Twilight's chest, unable to look at either Dash or Pinkie.
