Spidey 700 2nd printing coming soonI'm not a big fan of variant covers or 2nd printings namely because it deludes market values later down the road (10 or 20 years) on the original first print-first cover. To me, first print-first cover should be the most important because it is the most original...but some how because of the Image Comics market flood of the early 90s, this idea is totally ruined. Don't believe me? How much is your Spawn #1 or WildCATS #2 worth now verse 5 years after initial release? (Side note to further my point: WildCATS #2, with the cool hologram BG, was/is worth $100s...only if you got the print error version that had a double cover accidentally stapled to the front...why is that, the original work is ruined but yet its worth more?). Plus, the story for any variant (or reprint, naturally) has not changed a bit...whats the point of a variant if is the same. On the 1st Saturday in May, comic book companies do a big promotional effort to bring in new readers into comic book stores by distributing lots of unpriced comic books to the public. I live very, VERY close to a local comic store (It's literally right around the corner where I live), so I always look forward to this. It gives me the opportunity to read some new material without having to actually pay for it, which is always a good thing.
It also just so happens that this year's FCB Day coincides with this year's International STAR WARS Day, May the 4th, where fans celebrate the culture of the SW films and media. I originally wanted to draw a pic to celebrate the occasion, but I couldn't come up with a strong enough concept for one. Oh well. But then again, SW has plenty of fan art in the world.
I did manage to create an entire playlist of SW related videos on YouTube in preparation of this. So feel

Superior Spider-man:So I'm reading it anyway even though I still think it was kind of a dick move to make it be about Not Peter and mindfuck the fans by having the Superior Spider-man be Dr. Octopus who body-snatched Peter Parker's body, got together with Mary Jane again just to dump her and say he was over it (/things) within the very same issue they got back together, etc. I am however a little curiously wondering through this run what kind of funky gadgets he will come out with next or what sort of ethical lapses in judgment this "Dr. Spider-pus" will make next. I mean Peter was already a scientific genius who has a masters degree in biochemistry and has done chemical engineering (to make web fluid) + dabbled in electronics (for the spidertracers and the occasional one off/one shot plotline relevant gizmo) as well as having some knowledge of physics (he designed the webshooters for cripessake). Spider-Man Fan RantWhat the hell is the deal with some Spider-Man fans? I'm not talking about that Superior Spider-Man stuff either, that is truly garbage. No I'm talking about them hating the Raimi movies, saying they changed too much, but they love Amazing Spider-Man! You what what that changed, um just about everything! Now don't confuse me someone who hates Marc's movie, I like it, it's just that Spider-Man fans are being @$$holes. I'll admit Tobey Maguire may have been a bit whiny at times, but go watch Star Wars Episode II and see how bad it could've been. Others say they hated the Green Goblin design, well they went for something different same goes for New Gobby, and I like them just as much as the original designs. Venom's design could've been awesome, if they got a better actor, and made him bulkier. Too much CGI? Go ahead, I would like to see you do all of the acrobatic movies Spidey can do. Tools of the TradeHey guys. I figured I'd go ahead and do a FAQ journal entry. Just a basic list of the tools I'm currently using for my marker work. Markers: Prismacolor Cool and French grey markers. I think "Copic" has become another word for "marker" these days, so it's assumed that I'm using Copics for all of my work, but I actually use Prismacolor for all of my figures and detail work and only use Copic markers for backgrounds. I use to use "Warm" greys but I like the sepia look of French more now. I also occasionally use Copic color markers when I'm doing a full color marker piece. Why do I like Prismacolor markers
